Kiddieland was located at 1st Avenue & North Avenue in Melrose Park, Illinois. We went there as children, and I (Pamela) worked there in my teens. So many wonderful memories, sad that it is gone.

This ride is one of my most prominent memories of being a kid. Was such a unique ride being able to go into the parking lot and into tunnels. They really don't make em like the used to

i just want to thank you so much for making this video. no one has commented so let me be the first to say this is great and brings back such memories forever of being a kid. i can look at this video over and over to reminisce like im seeing a long gone relative. means so much, especially since it can never be lived in reality again. but we can cherish this little adventure thanks to your thoughtfulness. Best Wishes.

My parents took me and my brother almost every weekend to Kiddieland. The train was my favorite ride. I felt like I was entering an enchanted forest. So glad to find this! However, in the late 60's early 70's, when we went, the train ride not only was faster, there were about 4 individual scenic areas that had a wishing well, a small windmill and some other scenes, I can barely remember, but they were not in this video; all gone. Looks like later they took down the park grottos with scenery and put up parking lots. Yeah. Like the song. They changed paradise and put up a parking lot.

What happened to Kiddieland? I never thought that place would go anywhere. It seemed like that train went a lot faster when I was a kid. Here, it seems like it’s moving at a snails pace. It’s too bad my daughter wasn’t able to experience Kiddieland.

It basicly fell victim to a divided family. The 4 brothers who owned the park were split on keeping ot or selling it. Ultimately we see which won. It is a shame the park i went to as a kid is gone. Not sure what happen to the train but the little dipper is at Great America and the Kiddieland sign is at the Melrose Park Library.

@@BobMocarski that’s because the kids that inherited it we’re only concerned about the money not keeping their parents dream alive and keeping it running. Sad.

Boy, would Arthur Fritz be sad if he were alive today that his old amusement park was carpet bombed by a Costco.
