  • Norwich's first game of the 1984-85 season was an eventful one for debutant Steve Bruce. He scored an own goal and nearly knocked out a team mate in an entertaining draw.

I remember this so well, particularly the disbelief when that Steve Bruce own goal went flying in the back of the net, right in front of me. Great game.

Shocking dive for that last penalty, lest anyone think that's strictly a modern phenomenon in the English game.

This was a great game. Took my wife's brother here to see his first ever live game. Think this was the game where standing just behind me was that curly haired guy from the soap Brookside.

Who'd could have imagined that Norwich would have a rock solid spine of Chris Woods, Dave Watson and Steve Bruce, win a League cup final at Wembley, yet end up getting relegated 🤔

I seem to remember Bruce giving away many bad headers like that. I was glad that we sold him on !

You'll probably think this is a strange request from an Evertonian, but do you have any news footage of Norwich's 4-2 win over Everton in 1984/85 season? I'm collecting anything at all from that season relating to the Blues, but have no footage of that game.

Haha ! Lawrenson you muppet. You give away a penalty here and you scored an own goal for us in '83. No wonder you never have anything good to say about us !!

Groblelaar was vasty over rated. Always running around the penalty area, and beyond like a headless chicken. Poor Mike Hooper never really got much of a look in.
