I am Chandrani Sarma and this is my official RUclips channel.
A bit about me: I was an international guest singer on Zee TV SaReGaMaPa 2016 (June) [www.youtube.co....] [www.youtube.co....] and I also did the opening act for Dance Singapore Dance (Season 2) [www.youtube.co....] in November 2016.
Though I have been learning music since Childhood, I started my professional singing career when I performed with Ali Zafar in 2014 [www.youtube.co....] in his Singapore concert and also started doing RUclips video covers. I performed with Mika (in March 2015, also in Singapore) and had my first solo concert in 2015 at Fort canning in Singapore. Over a course of 2 years I have uploaded some 20 videos and performed at various private and public events.
I shifted to Mumbai January 2017 and have been pursuing my musical career here since then. You can check out my Facebook page ( sarmachandrani), or Instagram ( chandranisarma) for more videos and photos! :D
I wanted to start these online classes for those who have limited access to knowledge and tools of how to go about learning Classical music. Because I feel basic knowledge of Sur and Taal as well as musical terms like Scales or Saptak are important for any music lover who aspires to improve his/her singing projection. These classes will be uploaded every week, on Saturday, for 12 weeks.

Went through all the videos from week 1-12 not in 12 weeks but in a week & several times!!! - it had been really an amazing experience - so motivating and interesting - in terms presentation and making things very clear, making one to know ones limitations ! It is really unbelievable Chandrani- being a professional artist you could take out some time with so much of passion to prepare such presentations-no words! The Vocal Pitch monitor is really a great app which cleared my basic doubt 'How do I know when I say S, Re, Ga.... I am progressing with right pitch..' without which it is never possible to sing! No doubt you have a great future! It is nothing less than a face2face session of Guru-Sisya and soon you will have unlimited sysyas with lot of love and affection!

Mam you have taught all the 12 lessons in a very interesting way..A big Thankyou to you Mam...but I am finding difficulty in finding scale, some of the times I get correct scale but sometimes I get confused in 3-4 keys... Mam can you please make a video on it and show us finding scales of some more songs... Please mam...

I totally agree with all the steps you told. But there is a BIG BIG rider attached to it. Humming in the accurate key is not everyone's cup of tea. A large section of people are tone deaf. They can not identify the pitch and hence they just can not figure out the difference between sur and besur. For such people, your steps will not work at all. And I am 100% sure that you know it yourself !! 😀
But your technique will work wonderfully well for people who have the ear for music and just want to master the technique of identifying the scale. So thanks a lot for bringing out such a wonderful tutorial. I will definitely share to other folks who are pursuing this craft relentlessly.
