Just finished cutting out the scalloped border. It came out great. 😊 Followed your easy instructions using the Quilt in a Day ruler. Thanks so much.

Wow, I never thought a scalloped boarder could be so easy. I need to get one of those templates. Thank you Jen for sharing this.
Yes, this template is amazing! Here is the link for you to shop on our website: www.shabbyfabrics.com/p10753/scallops-vines-and-waves-template Happy that you enjoyed this video and thanks for your comment! - Abby

You are welcome! Glad that this tutorial has helped you! We appreciate your support and comment! 😊 - Abby
😍😍 this is going to be so helpful with accuracy. Thanks you for the very clear tutorial.
We're glad you enjoyed this tutorial. Thanks for watching!! -Michelle
Fabulous video! I bought the template because I was sold on the fact that the ruler guide would do the math for me. It did not disappoint. I have successfully cut my first scalloped border and I am so excited about it! My only critique point is that it would have been nice to show what to do if the numbers don't come out evenly. The book tells you to start on either end and work towards the middle. I found I had to 'fudge' the middle three scallops a bit, making each one up to 1/2" smaller. It will never show when it's all done, though. Thank you for making this video. It sold me on the ruler and I appreciated your talking through the process - and referring to the book as you went.
Happy that you enjoyed this tutorial and glad that we could help you! Thank you for your support and comment! - Abby
Thanks for an excellent tutorial. I have ordered a ruler and look forward to using it. Blessings, Jo Anni in mississippi
That is great! We hope you enjoy! - Yajaira
Such a beautiful Christmas quilt! I love it! 🎄❤️
Thank you! We love Christmas quilts! ~Leah
Brilliant, I bought this ruler ages ago but have never used it!!! You have given me the incentive to give it a go, thank you. 🐢
Yay! We love to hear that! Let us know if you have any questions, and how your project turns out! - Morgan
Jen, this is a great tutorial, and Eleanor Burns is wonderful! I found your tutorial on the "keyboard" border and will be viewing it to learn that skillset first...and then on to the "scalloping"...lol. Thank you for sharing, and God bless you!
You are so kind, so glad you like it and found the other tutorial! That will be so helpful! Let us know how your projects turn out. - Morgan
I've been looking for the tutorial on the keyboard border. Can you put the link or exact name? Thank you
Excellent tutorial. I will get that template today.
Thank you! Let us know how your quilt turns out! - Morgan
Thanks for this video. I bought this scalloped ruler a year ago, and have been afraid to use it. Now I must!
You're so welcome! Definitely give it a try, and let us know how it goes! - Morgan
Hi and thanks a lot for another great tutorial! What a wonderful tool that scalloped ruler is AND the instructions book. Thanks for introducing them to us! 🌸🌸
Thank you so much for watching! It's really a great tool, and so fun to use! - Morgan
Beautiful quilt and another great video! I have this tool also. Thanks Jennifer and Shabby Fabrics!!
Thank you for enjoying our tutorials! - Madison
Here’s a tip: mark your measurement (the 8.5” in this case) on the ruler with washi tape or masking tape before you start marking so you don’t have to go hunting for it every time. I love this ruler! I’ve actually used it before and it makes the scallop process so much easier!
That's a great tip, thank you for sharing that with us! - Morgan
That's what I do! If I don't, I have this habit of doing just one cut incorrectly, throwing the whole thing out.
Great video! I have used this tool in the past. I've had other scalloping tools, but this is the best. Thanks for those wonderfully clear instructions.
So glad you found the video helpful and clear! Thank you for watching, and let us know how your project turns out using this tool! - Morgan
Just saw a quilt with the edges scalloped and loved the look. Thank's for this video.
It's such a nice look! Let us know if you try this, thank you for watching! - Morgan
Gorgeous
Thank you! - Morgan
Great video Jen! You can also use a chalk pencil with a color that would contrast the color of your fabric as well.
That's a great idea, thank you for sharing that! - Morgan
Hello !! Happy Fall Jennifer and all at Shabby Fabrics!!
Hello! Happy fall to you, too!
I have the ruler from long ago, have never made a scalloped edge though. Great video. Maybe I will use that ruler finally.
You should try, it's such a great tool! Thank you for watching! - Morgan
Love it. Thank you for showing us how the tool works. I purchased one a couple of years back, but there was no book instructions with it. Where can I get the book on its own.
Hi Carole! So glad you found this helpful! The book isn't sold separately from the template, unfortunately. - Morgan
Good morning. I know this video is fairly old and I hope that you still get notifications on comments. I have 100 year old quilt that has a scalloped address and it will be going to a show in September but I need to attach a sleeve to it. Could you give me suggestions on how I would do that? Not sure if I should set the leave low enough so it does not peak out in between the edges or if I should make individual sleeves and attach them directly to the curve on the scallop to keep it hidden. Thank you so much for any help and feedback.
Hi Sabrina - Our suggestion would be to make one sleeve and attach it below the scallops so it didn't show when a rod was placed in it. Definitely pin the sleeve in place, insert the rod, and pick up the quilt by the rod. If you need to adjust, simply re-pin and try again. When you are sure it's where you want it, hand stitch the sleeve in place. Hope this helps! -Michelle
@@ShabbyFabrics thanks soooo much for your help!
I always pin my sleeves before I see them on by hand but I can see how in this instance it’s particularly important!!!
I so appreciate you taking the time to respond. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love your tutorials. So easy to follow. I have learned so much from you as a beginner quilter. Do you have a downloadable pattern for this quilt?
Hi Carmela! Thank you for watching! We do have a downloadable version of the pattern available here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Holiday-Charm-Pattern-PDF-Download-P80126.aspx
Stay safe and happy sewing! ~Leah
I’ve never had a white marker work as great as that one. What brand is it. Will have to try this border.
It's great, we love it! It's a Sewline Fabric Pencil! You can find them here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/sewline-fabric-pencil-white-1-3mm-P47432.aspx

Can the template be used if only quilting a small table runner?(14” x 45”)
Being that the scalloped template measures approximately 8.5" across the top, a smaller template may be more beneficial for a table runner that size. We have the smaller scallops that we use for our scalloped table toppers available here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/search?sortOrder=6&q=scallop+template -Michelle
What happens if you don't have a square quilt (length differs from width)? For 51" you made a scallop of 8.5, but what happens if the quilt is only 45" wide, will the scallop of 8.5 still fit in?
Great question! For a quilt that is not square, you'd adjust the space between scallops. The Scallops, Vines, and Waves Template has instructions for making those adjustments for custom quilt sizes. www.shabbyfabrics.com/scallops-vines-and-waves-template-P10753.aspx - Yajaira
Can somebody show me how to cut out numbers from 1through 10 and sew them
That's a great question! I'll pass that idea on to our video team! - Morgan
Is there a pattern for this or a kit?
Yes! The pattern is available here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/holiday-charm-pattern-P5977.aspx
