@@bryankehler I feel like there are two ways to take this. On the one hand, we've already established that Scotty like to tell people things (like repair estimates) are longer than they actually are. On the other hand, that's an attempt to minimize people's expectations so he can then exceed them.
If Kirk's crew once again does time travel in the 4th film, they should go to the late 90s. Then Mister Spock can meet the Beastie Boys before they're finished writing Intergalactic.
It maximizes the amount of "noise" in the signal. Suppose the adversary is sending the message "the swift brown fox". I try to jam that with a signal with a predictable waveform, so the message becomes "sid tvjeu asnxm gny". A sufficiently clever adversary would be able to determine they just need to +1 -1 every other character to filter out the jamming signal. But if I jam it with a one-time pad: "mez keuzq okroz mne". Much more difficult to filter. Louder, high tempo sounds like breakcore music are going to contain more noise (in every sense of terminology) than a classical symphony, hence the louder, the better. (But then again, hooking it up to a random number generator to produce white noise would be ideal.)
Also they said they needed a VHF transmission... but that has nothing to do with the medium something is recorded on. My cd player or tape deck isnt a radio station.
I only watched this once, missed all this dialogue for some reason, and had no clue why Beastie Boys music started killing everything. Now i know. Still not gonna rewatch it
Genuinely couldn't tell it was an outtake, and it absolutely should have stayed in. Incredible work as always.
I guess they didn't want Scotty's unimpressive length to become canon.

I feel like everyone reacted as if that was gonna stay in.
@@nitehawk86That's what she said.
"i've got just the thing!" *_It's been a long road..._*
That would definitely work.
"Ugh Scotty I hate this song."
"Listen to it more cap'n, it grows on ye!"
@@secretpandalord Aye, that it does XD.
Especially the full version
I’m givin’ her all I got, Captain!
I cannae take much more of this Cap’n… I’m gonna blow!
Is it in?
Poor Scotty. At least he's honest about it.
I'm surprised they were all able to avoid laughing.
Kirk starts just as the scene cuts away.
Oh yeah, I can see that Chris was smiling. The dark scene kind of hid it. But that is not out of character, haha.
Uhura is smiling too XD
I heard laughing after her saying, "It's too short" but it was at least partly behind the camera
A "that's what she said" in Star Trek. Monumental.
From Scotty, of course. The only one of the lot who's always practical.
Seamless. Even Kirk smiling at that fits.
"You bet your ass, captain. I'm giving her all she's got, captain!"
--Scotty on an energy drink while running around a beer factory
If this hadn't been posted to your channel I legit would have thought this was a clip straight from the film. Amazing!
I gotta watch this movie again. It was surprisingly fun.
If Kirk's crew once again does time travel in the 4th film, they should go to the late 90s. Then Mister Spock can meet the Beastie Boys before they're finished writing Intergalactic.
And meet the alternate version of "I Hate You" guy blasting it on his iPod.
the ABSOLUTE DEADPAN really makes you think Scotty's medical files got leaked 🤣
Well, if he can't find it in himself to stand up and tell the truth, then he doesn't deserve to wear that uniform.
Simon Pegg is, as always, class
"Aye lassie; It's not the length of the nacelles, but the pulses of the warp core that matters..."
Hey, that innuendo for the female body is going a little far for RUclips, there...
I don't know where you've been, lad, but I see you've won first prize!
"Captain, I canna change the laws of physics!"
No reaction from anyone on set. Professionals every one of them, except Pegg. :D
Chris definitely smiled.
For better and worse, that's exactly a kind of joke a Kelvin Trek movie would have for real, so this outtake doesn't stand out at all 😅
No wonder he drinks...
0:23 his face looks like my Grandma and a bully
So... where's the intake?
Aye, that's what she said
Why would it need to be loud, surely it would need to be powerful?
Cut them some slack; This was clearly the very first time any advanced civilization had thought about the idea of interfering with a radio signal

Neither me or my gf could tell what the outtake was on first watch, I literally just thought she was showing me a random clip from the movie.
Must not tear into the stupid scene again. Must...not....
A little sad seeing Anton Yelchin in this clip. He died tragically young.
Chris pine smiled
Lollll 😂😂
Hegh'bat by words
0:22 0:23 0:24 the song 😂
god this movie rules
I reluctantly rewatched this movie recently as I watched all the Star Trek films. Star Trek V looks like a masterpiece in comparison to this film.
Scotty not the best engineer on deck? You go, girl boss.
She bypassed the compressor!
