- Dua is of two types;
1)Dua which is a 'ibadah (act of worship), and 2)Dua which is a mere calling out to someone or something.
The differentiating factor between the two is the intention and belief behind it.
For Dua to be an act of worship it has to be coupled with a belief that the one you are calling out to is a God.
As for a Dua that's made without such a belief behind it then it cannot be considered an act of worship.
The Action of Umar RAA, in which he called out to Sāriyah is, linguistically speaking, considered a Dua. But it's not an act of worship because obviously, Sayyiduna Umar RAA didn't believe that Sāriyah is a God.
Understand this difference and you will be able to understand, even if you don't agree, why scholars deemed Istighatha permissible.

The incident with Sāriyah is so well known in the history of Sayyiduna 'Umar (رضي الله عنه). The fact that this guy doesn’t know about it shows his ignorance. He doesn’t realize he’s exposed himself. May Allah guide all of us.

It's strange how he acts very confident and smiling when it's clear as day he is ignorant and has been completely refuted. He thought his 2 volumes were comprehensive and all inclusive☠️

Either ibn katheer is kafeer or mushrik according to wahabi.
Because if ibn katheer would have rejected this hadeeth then he would have becomed kafeer as he stated that this hadeeth is hasan(sahi) and if he would have accepted this hadeeth then he is mushrik,cuz one cant call a person who is very very far.
If umar would have done this act ,then he was mushrik too according to wahabi.
Actually,wahabi have made their own concept of tawheed and shirk that doesnt have anything to do with Quraan,haeeeth,sahaba ijma ie they have made their own islam.

"You dont know how books work", at the same time trying to take shar'i hukm from history books. Biographies are not a source for fiqh. Besides that, did he calk out to Sariyah, or did he just merely shout his name ? Cause it seems like your changing the very substance of this incident. If i scream at my TV go Algeria because of football match, im not calling out to the players ya jahil. Your very own source debunks you. Why didnt Umar go to the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم when they had a drought and instead to Abbas ? Why wad Muawiyah so eager to call Yazid ibn Awsat so he would do dua for rain instead of asking the prophet for rain ?
You don't know how fiqh works, fiqh rulings are made from Qur’an, Hadith, Ijma' and Qiyaas. The biographies that have verifiable hadith can be put forward to support or even establish a fiqh ruling.
Plus calling out while giving a khutbah, with the expectation of them hearing you, isn't the same as shouting at your TV. There were no TVs back then 🤦♂️, Sayyiduna Umar wasn't watching the battle from a screen, he saw it in front of him. Might be hard to understand if you're someone who thinks science is more powerful and believable than abilities that ALLAH gives to whoever He Wills.

Are other people better then the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم ? Why didnt Umar call out to the prophet but went to Abbas when they literally suffered from a drought ?
