It’s definitely one of the silliest most interesting man-made materials that people work I’ve been seeing it for as long As I have been in the industry but believe it or not I’ve never seen it ever being used and a piece of jewelry I’ve held onto a piece for many years that I’ve planned on making a video with but I haven’t done it yet
I discovered bowlerite through Keith Horst former lapidary instructor at the yavapai college. Bowlerite is so fun to work and easy with some of the most unique and beautiful colors, it's light and not a heavy material so you can use large pieces.
Totally I love when I find slabs that are set up with drawings of calves that other artists have drawn Sometimes they could’ve been drawn 50 years ago :)
I like it a lot more than the Denver show it’s definitely a buyers market fair at quartzite I believe since it’s a lot of mom and pops and they do their own slabbing a lot of times their own harvesting and a lot of their own cabin it’s a good place to connect with the material that you were buying that close with Luv that was works for the people who worked it unfortunately a lot of foreigner dealers at jam shows do you not do any of the cutting of their stones and are paying someone next to nothing to do all the work where the mom and pops hair in America at shows like this one do all of the work
Yeah they were totally awesome pieces I really enjoyed it Ben The gentleman who does all the slapping in this video but in my honest opinion his prices were just a little high for me I find a lot of the same material A lot more affordable from different vendors that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t buy from him it just means that I would wanna negotiate better prices and I wasn’t in the position to buy enough material from him to where it would make a negotiating worthwhile for both of us I should’ve bought at least two pieces of that black J though I’m beating myself up over it however Ben is a super cool guy his information is in the video and I can always give them a call

That’s one of my favorite things to do while filming these shows :) I almost never forget a vendor after I chat with them and there’s nothing like striking up life long friendships with new rock family much like with Ben from this video I will never forget him and I’ll always be a pleasure to see him as often as I can at different gemshows around the country

@@chadatchison145 Do you know the gentleman talks about how he’s not very computer savvy towards the end of the video so I don’t think they do have a website there might be a Facebook page at most but he says he’s always getting banned on Facebook LOL I would think the best way to get a hold of them would be to call them I only gave the phone number for Ben the other phone number was his recently deceased if you do call him don’t be afraid to negotiate the gentleman is extremely kind and let him know that the guy who bought that box of rocks for five dollars Uploaded a video and that I say hi

Definitely had a blast in courtside this particular vendor was one of my most favorite people to me definitely kind and genuine Rock loving people I’m still not quite rested up from the super long 13 Hour Drives though :)

I collected them all untill they turned into beading in the 2000's and have some doubles. I cant wait to see the whole show! I enjoy the small show people:) like Prineville and Madras , Peace brother and stay safe!
I’m trying to do the full collection from the 40s up until right before they started beading If you’d like to trade some of my doubles for your doubles that would be nice or I could straight up buy your doubles or a trade you for some material or crystals if you were interested
@@lapidarydave ,I got them all the ones from the 40's are small size, I even have a checklist like baseball :) my favorite was June Zeitner , I was in contact with her before she passed ,we used snail mail and I bought her last book and she sent me a signed picture from her classroom! She taught right up to the end. I will see what I have brother, and I collected R&G I have piles of those and the other lapidary magazines that are gone. The 60's and 70,s were the best issues!!!

They probably cant find rockhounds that can tell the stories like the old writers! I would love to sell the whole collection or donate them to a big club or musuem !! peace brother

Hi Dave,i dont understand why the write the prices on the stones,i bought a pièce of ametist and i dont get the ink off the piece a bought.how can i remove the ink?😘🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🤗
Most of the times if you see writing on a stone it’s usually a slab which is intended to be cut and polished later down the line in which the writing will be removed however much like your situation I have seen people use sharpie to write on CRYSTAL’s or other materials that are not intended to be cut and carved which is a shame because it can be hard to remove and sometimes the ink from a pen or permanent marker can seep into the material or CRYSTAL making it even harder to remove I was just soaking it in a little bit of acetone or perhaps using some store-bought “goo-oof” which can easily be bought in small quantities from places like the dollar store or Walmart it shouldn’t damage the CRYSTAL at all but it is very good at removing ink :)
Me neither, but my first boulder opal pendant was the first that had a profound effect on my depression. I couldn't open my eyes before 930 and the first time I wore it was the day I woke at 630 with no alarm. Completely unexpected as I don't really get into crystal healing. Weird but 100% true. That said, peizio electrics as a starting point is proof of there being more to the story.
Most of the time Tucson is Jan-feb but this year it got “rescheduled” there’s a good chance it might not happen at all Most years there are two types of people that go to the show for more than casual buying and those of the people that show up early to buy a quality the first few days of the show to get the first pick of the litter and then there are the people that show up at the last days in the show who want quantity They try to get the best deal possible in my opinion the quality people are a lot more respected then the quantity people but The vendors at the show are used to people haggling and lowballing the last few days of the show So it’s a little tough to answer your question on when the best time to be at the Tucson show I would say if you can try to stay the whole month this way you get a bit of both worlds

@@lapidarydave may I recommend you promote a platform that doesn’t demonetize you based upon your audience’s or your political or religious belief? One that can’t do censorship? My friend Diamond Miner Ivan’s was just demonetized for no reason, he went from 10,000 followers to just 70 today.
@@joycerobertson3238 I appreciate the thought but I don’t do the religious or politics thing myself I never get involved with that kind of stuff on social media RUclips and it’s nothing you’ll ever find in my search history as of right now RUclips is treating me really well it seems like I’m getting paid more than folks that have more than twice as many subscribers as me I keep everything PG I never curse I never let anybody curse in my videos either But if anything better than RUclips ever pops up I’ll definitely start uploading there as well I didn’t start the channel in order to make money I started to help people so if it ever happens where I’m not making money like I am today I don’t think I’ll let that stop me from using RUclips
