BSS are made up from the 3 ‘funniest’ members and started as a joke actually, so I understand the confusion. They “debuted” during caratland 2018 and fans loved it so much they finally ended up having an official comeback in 2023. It instantly became a huge hit in Korea
FYI, during Mingyu's segment when the guys pranked him by hanging up, the blonde-headed guy sitting next to Mingyu is Bumzu...the unofficial 14th member of Seventeen as they like to say. Bumzu was Seventeen's vocal coach during their trainee days, and he's also the one who recognized Woozi's genius in writing/producing and thus began mentoring him. To this day you'll see Bumzu's name next to Woozi's on most of the songs. Woozi said that when they finished writing/composing "Cheers to Youth", both he and Bumzu started jumping around the studio they were so happy, because they KNEW it was that good!
sweet. I believe Bumzu went fishing with Jin of BTS and helped him write Super Tuna.

NU’EST had some successes back in the day and their songs are quite good, but since Pledis merged with HYBE in 2022 they’ve disbanded. You might know Hwang Minhyun tho, he played a big role in the series Alchemy of Souls and has a successful acting career now!

You made the comment that S. Coups is scary to you. Believe it or not, S. Coups is scary to himself. He's battled severe anxiety, stage fright and depression...so much so he had to go on an extended hiatus for his mental health. They were on tour, and he left in the middle of it, things were so bad. He doesn't think of himself as a great leader, and he's always thanking the members for following and supporting him. If you want to really hear his heart, this past year (2023) when he was on medical leave for his injured knee (surgery), he wrote and recorded the song "Me" which is all about the duality he deals with: the idol S.Coups on stage that everyone loves, and the regular person off stage Choi Seung Cheol, who he doubts people would love if they really knew him. It's about negative self talk...one part of him telling the other part how stupid, awful and two-faced he is...and his battle to stop those thoughts ("shut your smelly mouth, those lies could stick"). The lyrics (paraphrased) say that though there may be two different personas, they both share the same heart; and that he will become one persona (whole, healed) for Carats (though he doesn't directly mention Carats...you get the meaning). The killer part for me are the lyrics when he speaks of how Carats supported him...held his wrists...when he wanted to die. The mental visual of Carats holding his bleeding wrists giving him enough strength to hold on puts me in tears every time: he seriously contemplated suicide. So though S. Coups may seem a little intimidating at times, he has a heart bigger than Seventeen and the whole Carat fandom combined. If it weren't for the members and Carats, he would've checked out a long time ago. The road to become an idol is NOT easy. You should watch their pre-debut TV series "The 17 Project" to see how painful and difficult it was for them prior to debut; and then if you want to see the challenges they face when touring, watch "Hit The Road"...about 15 or 16 parts...and worth every second of each one. And if you REALLY want to see how hard trainee days were, look for the TV reality series of when they were still trying to figure out if there would be 13 or 17. They lived in the basement of a house...a large lime green room...and slept on the floor, using cardboard boxes as blankets. (Or at least those that were lucky enough to have found a cardboard box, that is.) When you hear lyrics about them building a skyscraper from a basement, that's what they're referring to. Those days were EXTREMELY hard, especially for the foreign line (Joshua, Vernon, The8/Minghou and Jun) since they went years without seeing their families who they loved and missed VERY much (especially The8...I think it was the hardest for him, as he was/is VERY close to his mother).
If you'd like to listen to S. Coups song "Me", here y'go. There is no MV; only lyric videos. I think it will deepen your insights into an amazing young man who has overcome much to be Seventeen's great leader.

I really did not know he struggles this much. From the exterior he seems tough. He has too much pressure on him. And everybody has expectations and he is afraid of not fulfilling those expectations and feeling like being himself would let carats and the members down. That is very hard. I hope he will be happy and healthy and himself. True carats will love him for him anyway. He does not need the fake ones anyway. 💜

S.Coups is very shy and fluffy and cute but he can be scary too, yes. That's our Alpha Leader.
Wonwoo is one of the quietest and shyest so whatever he does,the members think it's cute lol.
Mingyu cooks very very very well. He's their go-to chef. But he's really clumsy. Always breaking and dropping things. Walking into, crashing into or tripping over things. Even over his own feet lmao. That prank, they also pranked him on stage at recent concerts. They all did that jump at the end, as an inside joke that carats know about. But the next day, he thought it was still part of the choreo and they changed it, so he was the only one jumping. 😂😂😂
Whenever Vernon does anything, carats just say: "Vernon is Vernoning" 😂

Wonwoo lost his mother to a sudden illness in April 2022, and that devastated him. He is the reason Woozi wrote one of Seventeen's most iconic songs, "Circle"...and it's the one song Woozi has never been able to sing live without breaking down in tears, never finishing the song. Seventeen's parents are all VERY close, and the members see each others parents as their own. So Wonwoo's mother dying was a great loss to Seventeen, too. To hear more of his precious singing voice, in August of 2022 Wonwoo recorded a cover of IU's song, "Knees". It's a tribute to his mother. Wonwoo doesn't express his emotions much at all, so for him to share his heart through song is deeply profound. 💔

For the record, Wonwoo talks/prays to his mother often (he stopped regularly at different times throughout Nana Tour); so when Seventeen won MAMA's Album of the Year in November 2023, when asked to speak to the audience Wonwoo said he was happy he would have something to brag about to his mother later. I was already in tears, SO PROUD of and happy for Seventeen; but between Woonwoo saying that and Seungkwan thanking Moonbin for HIS support, I was crying like a baby!

15:55 they are playing a mafia game here. They are the best at the game and it so much fun watching them playing it. Mafia series is the best series in Going Seventeen, we call it Don't Lie series. There's 6 seasons of Don't Lie in total. They wrap up the series last year but who knows they might surprise us again in the future. You should watch it if you are planning to react to going seventeen in the future. No one play mafia better than seventeen. I can guarantee you😂

Anyway, if you're searching for another self produced team, i would like to recommend Day6, it's a band from JYP Ent, same agency with Stray Kidz (Day6 is Stray Kidz's senior and they got along very well). Fun fact that BSS (the Seventeen's unit mentioned in this video) also love Day6's song too, they mentioned it many times.
I know of Day6 as Seungmin is a big big fan. And I heard his cover for Zombie, which I absolutely love. 💜

BSS is a subunit of Seventeen with Seungkwan, DK and Hoshi. You could maybe compare it to 3Racha in Stray Kids to make it easier for you to understand.
BSS first debuted with a song in 2018 and their song Fighting was one of the most successful kpop songs in 2023

Yeah Mingyu and Jungkook are friends as well as DK and SVT The8. Stray Kids Bang Chan to along with GOT7 BamBam and Yugyeom, NCT Jaehyun and Astro Cha Eun-woo. All of them born in 97 and were well known for being on a friends chat and their interactions with each other is wholesome

@lorydannagr Don't worry, this happens with a lot of carats. Most tend to confuse Jeonghan and Joshua a lot, and sometimes, they act similarly, being mischievous. XD
Edit: I'm not sure if there's an easier way to recognise them but I see Joshua as the American or foreigner, and Jeonghan as the prettier one (no reason but he definitely is pretty and that's what I thought the first time I saw him), he also has long hair in most comebacks except in the middle when he cut his hair.
Also, Jeonghan is older than Joshua, and they are very close to each other (because they are also the same age, 1995)
