The whole Moza product line looks really styling orientated. I can only think they didn't come up with their own bom cost / price calculation, but only looked at similar products and put their price tag on. The classic half chinese UI in the driver software for a fully released product... The Dash MFD with premade proprietary layouts. No editor for dash layouts. Then you never know if they leave the market after the first try... I wouldn't want to be an early adopter, just to find out they've left the market two days later. Nobody to turn to for RMA or spare parts.
Great to finally have some impressions on how they actually drive. It is hard to screw up the DD experience itself, so it seems to drive well enough, but they are over-reaching by going head to head with Fanatec and Simucube on pricing, especially with undercooked software and no one able to vouch for long term reliability.
Can't ever complain about more competition in the market. Seems like they have some interesting ideas. Hard sell to the community with those prices and the issues they have had, though. Appreciate the video, Dave!

Interesting thing I did notice is to compare the price listed in Chinese yuan and the British pounds, the listed price in British pounds is around 200£ more than that of the Chinese yuan
totally agree Dave, I am in the market for a complete setup so these grabbed my attention but the price is just too high compared to proven brands/[products. Great video as always

If I was in the market for a complete setup I would obviously shop around and compare lots of products.
Unfortunately I don't think this kit would be on my list of possible purchases.
I tend to agree that they are priced too high compared to tried and trusted equipment available.
As I said in the unboxing video, they don't seem to fit in any particular place from beginner to enthusiast in my eyes.
While everything seems to work reasonably well, I think they have work to do before anyone would seriously consider spending their hard earned cash.
New equipment suppliers can only be good news for the sim racing community at the end of the day.
Time will tell and it will be interesting to watch any developments.

That wheel flex at 06:20 is an instant turn off. Love the screen though!

Assuming they'll sort out the software ASAP, this looks like a very solid first attempt. However, they'd really have to price things at least 10% below Fanatec's competing options for me to consider them.
Moza makes amazing stuff im super glad i choose Moza over fanatec and thrustmaster
I think Moza have a good future if they reduce the price of their wheels more people will get this set up I am taking the chance and have already ordered the complete eco system it was based on reviews and my own research paying extra for a power bank and the play in the DD drive when connected to the rim is what made my mind up

For a first attempt this is not a bad effort. I'm awaiting the 2nd gen of this product where they learn some things and improve the product.
Seems like a they jumped into the game a little too soon and didn't consider pricing would be the main selling point rather than styling. I remember when Simagic 1st came out and looked like a cheap Chinese product but people gave it a chance because of the price. Then they were able to refine their product through customer feedback and still keep the price just below the European products to keep them competitive. Moza has a thing or 2 to learn from Simagic. Hopefully, they stick around and refine their product and realize they have to price their product according to perception for people to take the plunge. Thanks for the great "review" Dave.
I’m totally with you about the design.
With the Simagic Alfa Mini and Fanatec CSL DD this kit looks way over priced. The only competitive edge they may have over Fanatec is if they can fulfil deliveries more quickly. I love my 2nd hand HE Sprints (thank you), so £500+ for those pedals again looks over priced, especially for a company with no track record. Nice video Dave, it's the kind of detail I want from a review, i'm not too interested in dismantling the product to look at the inner workings.

the way the Moza Pitbox shows you the wheel rotating and what UP is and that you can change the steering angle and whatever and see the results in the settings is great for a noob like me.
more competition, hopefully puts some fire under Fanatecs ass and makes them at least think about maybe almost possibly perhaps work a bit on their fanatec settings..
For a company with no track record to speak of whatsoever, I'm afraid they're asking double the price they should be asking. You need to spring upwards of 2000 quid for the wheel + base + pedals. When you put it that way, they'd be hard pressed to find people to spring even 1000 for the lot.
Not sure if it was the rig or the pedals, but that brake pedal looked like it had some flex.

I would like to get the CRP pedals. However, I do not have a rig and would have to set them on the floor. Think it would work? I will put them against the wall so they will not slide. My chair will not slide. My concern is that the base will tilt when I apply the brake. Your thoughts? Thanks.
Base on 100% and FF on 8.3 Not sure why anyone would want to run it that high ? A car doesnt give that much and your arms will feel like mush after half a race. You must have strong arms Davey Boy ! :)

I'm impressed with how well everything works and the effort Moza has put into the setup, but I don't think this is the one for me. For 16nm that's a high price to pay. But hey, maybe this will get Fanatec on the ball to release something in that torque range for cheaper similar to the CSL DD? Thanks for the solid review as always Dave!
My initial thoughts were if the quality is great then i understand the price, but after seeing so many youtubers having issues with these wheels and having to send them back for a repair or replacement, i think im going to save my money and either go for a Fanatec DD CSL or something from Thrustmaster, the prices dont sit well with me considering the quality control needs work imo
The FFB Effect Equalizer screen works just like the graphical equalizer on fancy HiFi systems (Dave must be old enough to remember those); i.e. it's a bank of tuned band-pass filters that allows the user to boost or attenuate certain frequency bands. FFB signals can be thought of as low-frequency sound waves.

Dave, please tell me. I live in Russia and for me the price of fanatec CS v3 pedals comes out the same as moza CRP pedals. If with the same price, what would you prefer? I now have Fanatec csl pedals and I don't have enough of them for iracing
I would go with the V3, although the CSL LC pedals are great and much cheaper 👍

which steering wheels are compatible with the moza? (that is not a moza steering wheel)

A year later Moza is still going strong they are expanding the product range and the software is phenomenal now and the gear itself is built to a higher level if quality to fanatec it cost a little more to get into the eco system but add ons cost less than fanatecs like clubsport rs wheel vs cs wheel by moza very similar wheels but Mozas wheel cost $100 less and there is never to no plastic on anything they make where as f as natec loves there plastic
21:26 Clutch is stuck on ca5% and then moves by itself on braking.
Good spot. Looks very sticky. Probably needs modification, because it'll quickly get worse with time.
All I want is a break and pedal set up that is spaced further apart for a decent price. Maybe something intentionally made for 2 feet
With some time, you can adjust everything to your liking, I myself have the Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Ultimate - 3 Pedal Set which can be changed quickly, I like the 21 nm steering column in black and I also don't like the steering wheel with the prescribed text on it, I also like the pedal plate, and the set of 2200 euros plus ,so this is not too bad nice info thanks

Dave, How long do you think it will be before we see a truly affordable Direct Drive wheel base for the masses?
I juzt checked their website out and they have a 21nm model which looks better BUT £1100 wth, who would choose that over a simucube 2 pro (amazing piece of kit i got 3 days ago) and fanatec DD1.
Feels like a money grab but who can blame them and we wanted more options so maybe they can re model their prices because i cant see anyone buying their bases at those prices and 2 cherry picked samples were faulty.

another reviewer also had problems, not the best look. And as another commenter mentioned, the steering wheel flex at 6:20 is way worse than my round thrustmaster rim and that did not even cost 200 euro's

@@Simlife101 we have looked at a few rims and tried momo, motomec, and omp, they all seem to have a similar degree of flex at the top tested on our midge that has zero flex.
Agree with Dave. Zero reason to buy this over whats already out there. Price would need to come down nearly in half.

Those Chinese labels in the wheel software make as much sense as having FFB Strength listed under Graphics Adjustments in that iRacing box in the bottom left corner. 🤣
As others said - this is simply priced too high. Doesn't mean it's a bad product or that things such as the language in the software will not improve. But at the pricepoint for the wheelbases I can get a VRS or a Simucube 2 Pro which both are arguably better and more established products than the Moza R16 / R21.
I thought the ffb felt really good. But yes, weds to be much lower to sway people their way.

@@davecamyt Are you sure that is correct and not the opposite way. I spoke to Mika from Granite Devices who said for DD wheels you use linear mode
Linear mode just softens everything. With the force of DD wheels why wouldn't you want the sudden forces such as kerbs etc. Linear mode just makes it a bit meh for me.
With it on it raises the weak forces and lowers the peaks.
Edit, turns out I've been using it wrong all this time and it's the opposite of what I thought. I'm sure I read it that way, or it could just have been a dream. Don't listen to the internet. 😁
Servo motors themselves are pretty hard to get wrong. It's just electricity and magnets ulitmately.
The software will be it's Achilles Heel. That and long term support.
The bits you all like hardware wise were ripped straight off a Simagic wheel and base lol.
Agree with you on the toy looking aesthetics, it looks cheap and kinda bad. They also missed an opportunity making the screen locked into the ecosystem, should have just been USB interface.
Pricing is all kinds of wrong.

Oof, shipping multiple defective units to reviewers is a horrendously bad start. Unknown small brand, warranty might be a problem going forward, especially as they seem to have outsourced much of it to China - you just don't know if they'll still be around in 6 months time. Prices just aren't good enough to justify the massive ownership risks involved, especially when more reputable competition is undercutting them in price and options.
Hard no from me.
After seeing a couple reviews I feel like this product needs a few iterations. Almost like it needs another year of play testing and R&D on the software and hardware end. However, this "Early Access" experience combined with a pretty steep premium price is gonna deter a lot of potential customers. I'd consider this set with an early bird discount, but not at premium from a 0 track record Chinese company building camera gimbals.
Competition is good but it is way to expensive. Im more than happy with Fanatec can't complain.
If they added PlayStation compatibility.... It would be worth the price where it's listed right now. But it launched too high a price for anyone to consider it.
i think qualy management has not been done yet. What i acctualy dont like at all. This should be a finished product!!!
