Ezra wants is your favorite food
Maybe Ezra can begin learning the signs for zero through nine and what they mean through some concrete examples.
When I was in school (around third or fourth grade (age nine to ten)) I learned about what numbers mean with a set of wooden blocks and other shapes. The one for “one” was a small cube that was white. The one that represented “ten” was an orange rectangular solid that was ten times longer than the “one”. The shape for “one hundred” was a white rectangle that was ten times wider than the “ten” but the same length. “One Thousand” was a white cube that was ten times taller than the “hundred”.
My teacher’s aide had me line up ones, tens, etc. in various combinations in order to see in this fashion (concretely) how the numbers worked.
That specific set of blocks would NOT be good for Ezra because the “ones” and “tens” are very small and he could accidentally swallow or choke on them if he puts them in his mouth.
However, if there is something larger that he can play with safely (something that is too big for him to put in his mouth) then the same basic idea could work for him that worked for me when it comes to learning the basics of how numbers work. In time he could learn the signs for “one”, “ten”, “one hundred”, and some other numbers as he becomes ready (developmentally) to learn about them.

I have a question i have autism too and i have noticed that kids in my class are making fun of autism and autistic people so what should i do?

I am so sorry you’re having to go through this. That is completely unfair and shouldn’t be happening in your classroom. Perhaps you could tell and help educate people on what autism is and how the children and student should respect each other especially their peers. My advice to what you should do, I would try and find friends who are kind. We have the ASD club every week. You can join it in the description.

Simon is singing “Happy Birthday” pretty well for someone his age.
However, he may need to work some more with his speech therapist on his pronunciation of certain words like “happy”.

@@7Aheadfamily On a somewhat related note I took a course in college about how the brain works over twenty years ago and I seem to remember that some of the brain areas that develop new synaptic connections during toilet training are fairly close to where the speech center is.
Sometimes when one area gains some new connections the area next to it can lose some connections for a short time.
This potentially means that as Simon’s speech develops some more you will likely see some toilet training regression, probably within the next six to twelve months or so.
Most of these regressions will likely consist of genuine accidents. Don’t be too surprised if he starts to also have some on-purposes, though. During these he may use new phrases to describe what he is doing such as “Look Mommy I’m going diaper in my undies!” Or “Look Mommy I’m going undies!” Or “Look Mommy I’m going car seat!”. If he does any of these he should be placed in a brief time-out (three minutes currently, four minutes if he does this after his fourth birthday) The general rule is one minute of time-out for every year of age along with any explanation of the reason for the time-out. Besides a brief time-out no other punishment is necessary (or even desirable) even if it seems like he “obviously knows better”.
I remember one of my cousins (back in the 1980s) doing what I describe in the previous paragraph on more than one occasion (from time to time) from Simon’s age until about age seven (give or take). He eventually finished training and now has the same amount of control as most people do (give or take). I think he’s neurotypical but he’s never been tested for autism so who knows.
Obviously in case of a genuine accident no punishment is needed, just a change of clothes and a reminder to use the toilet next time.
If regressions like this happen do not return him to traditional tape-on style diapers during the day (no matter how tempting it might be). Instead have him wear something like Huggies pull-ups or Pampers Easy Ups as much as necessary. These go all the way up to size 5T-6T so you shouldn’t have any problem finding something that fits. In order to make sure that he feels wet in case of an accident you will want to make sure that he has a pair of underwear on inside the training pants. Colored underwear is best for this because it doesn’t stain as noticeably.
Also make sure to have a good quality rash cream available. Diaper rash is practically guaranteed if you use this technique but it is also the technique most likely to keep his toilet training pretty much on track for someone around his age no matter what happens in the near future training-wise.

We are helping Ezra get used to siting at the table now but he still uses his highchair. He will sometimes run away and break something❤️

My four year old boy mannerism is a bit like Ezra .so I was just wondering if he's going to be that way forever.
We just posted this video. The video was taken on 30 December. That is when Ezra turned eight. And answer question. I don’t know what Ezra is capable of or what he will end up achieving in life. We are just taking it one day at a time helping him grow, and become as independent as he possibly can. he is still very young and I have high hopes that he will surprise us. And very excited for the day when I can hear about what he really wants and how he’s really feeling.
7 Ahead - Will Ezra Be Nonverbal The Rest Of His Life Due To His Diagnosis Of Level 3 Autism / Appraxia Of Speech Or It Will Be Possible When He Reaches Adult Hood In A Decade ?
I wish I knew the answer to that question. That’s a difficult one to address, because I have no idea what will happen or what he’s capable of. I have high hopes that he will learn how to communicate in someway. Apraxia makes it very difficult for him to plan out his sounds that he makes with his mouth. I did a little bit of research on people with the apraxia that don’t have autism and some of them never speak. Some of them pick up sign language. We have tried sign language with Ezra For many years and it has not seem to be something that he is interested in learning. But perhaps he will surprise us someday. Will keep you updated on his progress.
Maybe in your upcoming OCD video you can cover some of the differences between OCD in real life and stereotypes about it. For example, someone who only knows about OCD from watching Monk (for example) might see Ezra wiping his hands on his shirt in this video and immediately think “not OCD”.

He is going to a preschool that is just for Autistic preschoolers and they do speech therapy with him everyday.

Looks like Simon is almost losing his diagnosis.
He is learning very quickly. A lot of the time we Don’t see his autism, except in The evening when he gets tired and when things don’t go the way he expects them too. He still has a very hard time with routines and schedules changing. He will always be autistic, but we are trying to help him be as independent as he can be. ❤️
