I am currently a manufacturing student in college. and for out capstone project, 10 of us are making 18, 1/10 scale tiger tanks out of aluminum. The other class is doing 18, 1/10 scale sherman tanks. all of the tanks that we are making will be made out of cnc aluminum and remote controllable!.. Fun fact: we are making over 900 wheels for the tiger tank alone!
the turret will rotate, were not sure about the cannon yet. a couple of years ago my school had made 4, 1/6th scale ones that weighed 600 pounds and were 66"L X 24"W X 20"H. were probably not going to do the cannon because of the sheer overwhelming fact that we have to make a total of 34 tanks in a one year period.

You could take 10'000 toyota tercels against a tiger and beat it in the end with tiger running out of fuel and ammunition. I'd still consider Toyota tercel a very bad tank.

Brandon Reyes I've had almost 7k battles in WoT as I comment, but I still like War Thunder SB, because nothing's more tense than driving through a forest, hoping that noone's turned their graphics down, or spotting a tank and having to identify it. I love that tension, but then there's the dissappointment when only tier 5 tanks are allowed to play SB, and I only have tier 3 tanks in the USSR line, tier 2 in the German line and the M2A4 in the US line.
***** War Thunder has artillery support for medium and light tanks. It's the same, except you get a warning in War Thunder, unless there's a bomber that wants to kill you, then you can hear a wistle and you know you're dead.

Just to let you know, the Sherman destroyed plenty of T-34s in Korea. Yes the Pershing did most of the damage, but you still can't dis the sherman in that case.

LunaTheGamer in my opnion Warthunder ground forces is only better when played in realistic mode, if you play arcade mode your better off on world of tanks. The one shotting is something that really pisses me off on ocasions, or the fact that you can't repair your tank when you don't have the "Parts" module unlocked. i Just press ALT F4 When my gun barrel gets destroyed by the first hit on my brand new tiger II. Realistic game mechanics are cool, are they fun? Not always.

My Dad was in the guard and I think I was 4 years old and was in his tank for some open house day. About all I remember were the ammunition rack along the turret and it being white on the indie like this Sherman.

I actually met Dylan at a tank event in Virginia. Got to ride in his track chair because while I am not a vet, I am physically disabled with spina bifida. The guy is really nice and I enjoyed talking to him. Action Trackchair is what those chairs are called.

These thigs would have moments where they arrived and drove 50 meter for, for example, the front drivewheel to break. The Tigers were way more superior, due to the quality.
The tigers were a great tank, however they were overengineered and too heavy. They used too many resources to build and they were so heavy that every part of the Tiger was mehanically stressed. They were unreliable as they could be.
The T-90MS and the Armata have never faced an Abrams, Challenger or Leopard, the three best tanks in existence. There's no way of telling which is better, although the Abrams and Challenger are actually combat proven and worthy.
to clarify a lot of comments, A sherman with a 76 (like this one) was superior to a tiger and t-34/85, HOWEVER, the tigers gun was better, and most tigers shot first because they would usually ambush. the victor usually went to whoever shot first, and that was probably the tiger. Now if by any chance you mean the Tiger II... well the king tiger was its own special kind of hell for anything to face
Cameron Burge Stronger frontal armor is arguable considering that this is a large-hatch late hull M4. Though I do not agree Rayalia's statement on 'superior', keep in mind it was a completely different kind of tank. The high-explosive round seemed to be quite problematic for most Tiger loaders, as it caution had to be taken or brashly loading it could result in a misfire that can ignite the round inside the barrel.
***** The Tiger v 15 Sherman must be an exaggeration. I don't know of any such incident. The Tiger I's 88m was superior to the Sherman 76mm's gun and the Tiger also had greater armour effectiveness as well. There is no way the Sherman 76mm was even equal to the Tiger I never-mind superior.

Nick Kranick I play for the tanks. I have only been playing half a year. It is much more realistic than WOT, even in arcade battles. Tanks can be oneshotted if you hit the ammo rack just like in real life, there is no HP bar that you need to chip away at. WOT is too arcadey. I like that realistic and sim battles can go on for 20 minutes or more, I like talking my time, rather than just rushing like in WOT. I like that AP rounds actually have different internal damage than APCR and HEAT, its not as simple as this shell does 115 HP damage. WOT is all about weird formulas like viewing distance and ground resistance, which have no basis on actual fact, they are just made up for gameplay balance reasons.
You can one shot in WOT too, infact very realisticly, u dont even need high caliber gun if you hit good enough and with bit of luck, and u can oneshot anyone at around same tiers. Even Maus get Oneshoted and destroyed, 3000 hp lost...

First version of shermans were bad (75mm gun) and only good against infantry, but later version (tank in this video) were equipment with 76mm high velocity anti tank gun and better armor.
You do realize the Sherman tank went on to serve in our military well into the Korean war, it then went into Israeli service where it was used successfully for years. Not to mention it served in other countries armies for decades. If the German tanks were so wonderful why didn't anyone copy the designs and make their own Tiger tanks, or why didn't they purchase the surviving tanks for use in their armies. Other than a handful of nations that purchased a few during the war, you will find little to no use of these German designs after the war. Another thing, German tanks were well known for being unreliable and requiring constant maintenance to keep them running, unlike Allied tanks. Many of them, especially the later Tiger tanks were abandoned on the battlefield and captured by Allied forces. Lastly, with air superiority over Europe, those big Tiger tanks were easy pray for P-51 Mustangs armed with rocket pods. Wanna bet how well Tigers faired against the Mustangs?
TriangularFilms Nope, the only tank that was clearly superior in armor and firepower was the Tiger, at great cost to reliable and price though. However, like I mentioned they were easy pickings for P-51's and other Allied aircraft armed with rockets. None of the WWII era designed German tanks (Tiger, Panther, Panzer, etc) saw service pass the 1940's. While the Sherman saw service for decades to come, the Easy 8 variant was quite effective against most common German tanks and the T-34 variants encountered in Korea. Now if more Tiger's existed, they were reliable and the war went on longer, they may have had an impact. However, if the war went on for another year the M26 Pershing would have been available, in greater numbers to offset the Tiger.
That Tank was a late War version and one of my favorites. HVSS, check. 76.2mm M1A2 Gun, Check. M4A3 Hull, Check. A T23 Turret, check. It's an M4A3E8 alright, but does it uses a Ford GAA V8 Engine?

Brandon Reyes I've had almost 7k battles in WoT as I comment, but I still like War Thunder SB, because nothing's more tense than driving through a forest, hoping that noone's turned their graphics down, or spotting a tank and having to identify it. I love that tension, but then there's the dissappointment when only tier 5 tanks are allowed to play SB, and I only have tier 3 tanks in the USSR line, tier 2 in the German line and the M2A4 in the US line.
***** War Thunder has artillery support for medium and light tanks. It's the same, except you get a warning in War Thunder, unless there's a bomber that wants to kill you, then you can hear a wistle and you know you're dead.

LunaTheGamer in my opnion Warthunder ground forces is only better when played in realistic mode, if you play arcade mode your better off on world of tanks. The one shotting is something that really pisses me off on ocasions, or the fact that you can't repair your tank when you don't have the "Parts" module unlocked. i Just press ALT F4 When my gun barrel gets destroyed by the first hit on my brand new tiger II. Realistic game mechanics are cool, are they fun? Not always.

I actually met Dylan at a tank event in Virginia. Got to ride in his track chair because while I am not a vet, I am physically disabled with spina bifida. The guy is really nice and I enjoyed talking to him. Action Trackchair is what those chairs are called.

Like Hartman said, Tigers were very unreliable. Shermans has their issues, but their maneuverability and numbers covered up the flaws.
The tigers were a great tank, however they were overengineered and too heavy. They used too many resources to build and they were so heavy that every part of the Tiger was mehanically stressed. They were unreliable as they could be.
One of the most unreliable tanks of the war was the Panther. The Sherman was the far more reliable vehicle.

The T-90MS and the Armata have never faced an Abrams, Challenger or Leopard, the three best tanks in existence. There's no way of telling which is better, although the Abrams and Challenger are actually combat proven and worthy.
to clarify a lot of comments, A sherman with a 76 (like this one) was superior to a tiger and t-34/85, HOWEVER, the tigers gun was better, and most tigers shot first because they would usually ambush. the victor usually went to whoever shot first, and that was probably the tiger. Now if by any chance you mean the Tiger II... well the king tiger was its own special kind of hell for anything to face

Cameron Burge Stronger frontal armor is arguable considering that this is a large-hatch late hull M4.
Though I do not agree Rayalia's statement on 'superior', keep in mind it was a completely different kind of tank.
The high-explosive round seemed to be quite problematic for most Tiger loaders, as it caution had to be taken or brashly loading it could result in a misfire that can ignite the round inside the barrel.

The Tiger I's 88m was superior to the Sherman 76mm's gun and the Tiger also had greater armour effectiveness as well. There is no way the Sherman 76mm was even equal to the Tiger I never-mind superior.

Nick Kranick I play for the tanks. I have only been playing half a year. It is much more realistic than WOT, even in arcade battles. Tanks can be oneshotted if you hit the ammo rack just like in real life, there is no HP bar that you need to chip away at. WOT is too arcadey. I like that realistic and sim battles can go on for 20 minutes or more, I like talking my time, rather than just rushing like in WOT. I like that AP rounds actually have different internal damage than APCR and HEAT, its not as simple as this shell does 115 HP damage. WOT is all about weird formulas like viewing distance and ground resistance, which have no basis on actual fact, they are just made up for gameplay balance reasons.

You can one shot in WOT too, infact very realisticly, u dont even need high caliber gun if you hit good enough and with bit of luck, and u can oneshot anyone at around same tiers. Even Maus get Oneshoted and destroyed, 3000 hp lost...

First version of shermans were bad (75mm gun) and only good against infantry, but later version (tank in this video) were equipment with 76mm high velocity anti tank gun and better armor.
You do realize the Sherman tank went on to serve in our military well into the Korean war, it then went into Israeli service where it was used successfully for years. Not to mention it served in other countries armies for decades.
If the German tanks were so wonderful why didn't anyone copy the designs and make their own Tiger tanks, or why didn't they purchase the surviving tanks for use in their armies. Other than a handful of nations that purchased a few during the war, you will find little to no use of these German designs after the war.
Another thing, German tanks were well known for being unreliable and requiring constant maintenance to keep them running, unlike Allied tanks. Many of them, especially the later Tiger tanks were abandoned on the battlefield and captured by Allied forces.
Lastly, with air superiority over Europe, those big Tiger tanks were easy pray for P-51 Mustangs armed with rocket pods. Wanna bet how well Tigers faired against the Mustangs?

None of the WWII era designed German tanks (Tiger, Panther, Panzer, etc) saw service pass the 1940's. While the Sherman saw service for decades to come, the Easy 8 variant was quite effective against most common German tanks and the T-34 variants encountered in Korea.
Now if more Tiger's existed, they were reliable and the war went on longer, they may have had an impact. However, if the war went on for another year the M26 Pershing would have been available, in greater numbers to offset the Tiger.
