Me too. A big fan of pips. Don't hear 'em much these days. Different stations had different sounding pips. 2SM in the '70s and '80s were my favourites.
Correct DannySSJ. The manager of 2GB at the time was Nigel Milan, a Pom. He either 'bought' the actual theme from LBC or purchased the rights and had it re-recorded in Aust. Question for you: is the one here the exact same mix of LBC or is it just the melody?
Cool it was back then. That theme was a 2CC original recorded in 1984 by Les Gock. It's actually a band track from a 2CC ID jingle based on the Thompson Twins' hit song "Doctor Doctor". 3TT used the theme from the time of their launch in 1988. Their version had the opening synth bars removed and used a v/o (Three Double Tee) at the head and came in hard on the drums
@@thehack8607 3NE also used it, but there's was a repeating loop from the hard Start and on the final beat, it repeated with the fade out continuing.. Only ever heard it over the air, so Don't know how it sounded in stereo and clean. the TT Version is here, it's a Scoped Air Check and is in AM Setero: ruclips.net/video/09yVDadC50c/видео.html
hi there. i remember the 6IX news theme at :25 sec mark was also used for National Nine News in Adelaide. One of my favourites as a kid. Is there any chance you have the full version of this news theme? I love it. Have been after it for years.
1:03 2AY Albury-Wodonga (used for its local news only), 4CD Gladstone (before 1985) 1:51 3UL Warragul, 3ZB Christchurch NZ, Radio Scenicland NZ, and RTE Radio 2 Ireland in the 1980's. This news intro was the short version, the full version was used by Radio 97 2MW Murwillumbah/Tweed Heads, 2ZK Hastings NZ, Radio i Auckland NZ, and even on RVN-AMV TV in the mid-1980's for their regional news intro.
Great upload.
Thank you.
Love these.
Not that I listen to the radio now anyway, but I used to love hearing the "pips" before the news.

The Hack Just the melody
2AY used it in the early 80's as its local news intro, and 4BH used it in 1983.
