PO Receiving with no License Plate using Advanced Warehouse in Dynamics 365 F&O 2020 Wave 2

- I get a lot of requests around how do we receive a purchase order in advanced warehouse without using license plates. Previously there wasn't a great way to do this.
With the release of 10.0.13 there is now a way to do this through work policies.
In this video we take a look at how to create a work policy that will prevent the system from creating work. We supplement those settings with some mobile device setup to make the process flow nicely.

I guess you need to put all your desired putaway locations in the Work policy, to allow directly receiving into those locations. Have you tried that?
I've been wondering the same thing actually. Current setup is filling in the location based on my default receipt location, so I'm not able to choose a location of my own. Have you encountered/solved this already?

I have a question in mind, suppose I receive via this process, in which case, work won't be created in mobile device for Po receiving and putaway time, but what if I want work to be generated during "sales order picking and putway process, is there a standard functionality that supports sales order picking and putaway , giving instructions to workers via mobile device, without using LP (license plate) . Is is possible sir?

Hi Scott, thanks for this amazing tutorial. Do you know if there is a possibility to upload ASN from vendors without the License Plate on the file?
I don't think so at least I don't know of a way to do that. I think a LP is always needed on the ASN upload and has to be used in receiving ASNs on the mobile device.

It’s under the warehouse settings the default receipt location.
@@Scott-Gaines I mean the locality CP-002 according to your example. There is no directive location to propose location for the inventory movement put?
Hi Scott, you have uploaded good informative videos on various topic. While following this video of "PO receiving with no license plate" did necessary setup but at the time of put-away, it automatically pick up the item and does not suggest me to put the code as seen in this video. Also then if gives me error "work class not valid". Something wrong in my set-up. Can you suggest?
Great! video. Can we assign a license plate to a PO which is not so far received and then create a sales order against that license plate?
Sort of. Take a look at creating an advanced shipping notice on the shipment. This allows you to upload license plates. The downside is that you have to use license plate receiving which is not always the friendliest, but creating an advanced shipment notice will allow you to do that. You have to use a data entity to import one. I don't think there's a way to create one through the UI.
Would you be able to generate any sort of label, ie with item and batch, from this process?
I don't think so the oob AWMS only creates license plate labels. I've found that the labels are fairly easy to modify though. You can insert labels into the same queue that prints the license plate labels.
Hi Chris, Might be worth double checking. On the Mobile device menu item of type 'Purchase order item receiving', you can set the 'Print label' slider to Yes. My bet is that will get you your label, which can include Item and Batch.
Hi Chris, did you ever find an answer to this? We would really like to start using the PO receive without work procedure, but no matter what I try I do not see any way of getting labels printed (we need to mark the items with qty and batch no)
HI mate, loving your videos, some great stuff, in relation to this one... i'm getting an error on my scanner when trying to receive, after creating my No LP location and adding it to the warehouses default receive location, telling me that the location is not license plate controlled and needs to be to receive. Any idea? I followed your video to a T and enabled the features. Thanks. David
It sounds like you're still receiving into the default receipt location. On your PO receiving menu you need to use default data and specify a location that is not LP controlled. You do still need the LP controlled location on the warehouse default. Also make sure on the mobile menu you have generate LP checked and have a number sequence assigned.

Hi is is possible to generate item labels for the items you have recieved?
Dont use the work policies method suggested as that stops a label being printed. Instead, on the mobile device set the work process to be PO item receiving & putaway, in default data select the non-lp goods in location and in the work confirmation setup set the Put to auto-confirm. This will create work but it will be completed pretty seamlessly and you can have your label printed also. Thanks. Waqas

Is it possible to scan more than one item for put away?
Yes if you use the user grouping option it will allow you to scan several items then put them away.
