Mate I would be so bummed if I rode my bicycle 3 or 4 miles and the restaurant was closed. They really should do something about this from an operational standpoint.
I work at a restaurant and to be honest it’s down to the restaurant to update Uber eats and let them know they are closed for business as restaurants can do that whenever they want during a normal day
Totally agree. I think just one way to mitigate this is to call the restaurant before they head to the store. Of course, some stores might not pick up despite being open and some stores might not have a phone, but I think while waiting for them to develop a system, that’s something that can be done in the interim
@@BurnPhoenix135 Surely making restaurants manually accept all orders would solve the issue if nobody is there because it's closed, Even if set to auto open, they can't accidentally get an order as it would just time out and autocancel it. I know my local McDonald's manually accepts all orders, its constantly chiming, their Uber tablet is on the front desk and whoever is on the till accepts them. Same thing with the local Subway, tablet next to the till.
They should still pay the driver for their time. It’s down to the restaurant to update they are closed for orders and if not they need to be charged for the drivers time.
@@VASIGTravelingLifeinLondon Totally, Ben perfectly takes us on what they go through just to get that meal. The Amazon one especially during lockdown was quite a trip.
A lot of the issues with orders and the 'closed' outlets is purely down to the outlet not updating their hours within the store's dispatcher system; not really a lot UberEats can really do on that other than maybe put a flag up in the system a few days before reminding outlets along the lines "Have you updated your opening days and times for Chrismas?" - a simple thing which would save everyone one time more so the delivery agent. But a side note; well done for providing a 'service' on Christmas Day for those whom have 'taken out'

Drivers only get the delivery charge whether that be through Just Eat, Uber, Deliveroo or the takeaway's own driver. Just Eat are however introducing a minimum wage and trialling it in London before rolling it out everywhere else. But generally a driver only makes a wage through the delivery charge and possibly any tips. The problem with tips though is with Uber and takeaway's using their own drivers tips aren't always passed on. People aren't using cash as much these days and drivers are noticing a drop in their wage. If using one of these companies leave a cash tip. Put it in an envelope and leave it on the doorstep.
I have noticed this quiet a bit in UK that some restaurants are closed even though they are technically supposed to be open at a particular time.
