That final fourth wall breaking stare that Wilhelm does at the end is the only one of the 6 where he is smiling.

That frame was my favourite as well. So beautiful. I also think that it’s just the right ending in that it’s still open enough to be able to imagine how things progress, it’s not like “and they live happily ever after” but it’s that snapshot of things being good and the trajectory of life feeling freer and clearer. I still can imagine drama ahead, like, with announcing it all, with the fact that they have to change schools, will they be going to the same school, who will pay for it if they are? And considering Wille is still in the family and stuff, Simon and his family aka Sarah are still going to be around, which means Sarah is still kind of still possibly around in August’s life even when he’s the crown Prince. So I could imagine drama there in the future, as well. That group in general, I mean, Felice is his ex, and their friend, and Wille and Felice kissed and it’s all very mixed in lol as it tends to often be with friend groups (I’m literally thinking of Friends, right now). Perhaps one could even imagine that it develops to a point that they actually become a kind of friend group after they graduate or something like that. I could also imagine the royal court/ Wille insisting on tuition being paid for Simon, and that maybe Felice would pay tuition for Sarah, and they’d go to the same school they suggested he go to on the phone, all of them. Meanwhile August is getting Throne Prince training, and he would probably struggle morally a little bit and maybe he would want to lean on them as they have a somewhat better moral compass, and so on. I just think that this entire group of individuals inherently draws drama so I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened in the future. What if someone were to find out that August was the one who leaked the tape? And he’s the crown Prince, how would they handle that? Etc. And I could also imagine Wille’s relationship with his parents getting better because she’s no longer both his mum AND his boss (remember how she said that was difficult?) my point is - while the ending feels resolved in many respects, and pointing toward plot points beyond what is shown, it also leaves enough free to be imagined as well. Perfect ending, truly.

Wilhelm can be free and be with Simon. He's back to square one. Being just a Prince. And not the Crowned Prince anymore.
He can party all he wants now. With no Malin following his every move.
August on the other hand. They OWN him now. His life is gonna be a prison.
Looking at Wilhelm's perspective when he was the Crowned Prince, it wasn't fun at all. He was trapped and he wasn't allowed to do a lot of things that he wanted.
Am I the only one who actually felt a little bad that August is now gonna be in 'prison' and lost the love of his life? That look of realization on his face when he saw Wille stepping out the car and leaving his parents there at the end said it all. He was like "Oh shit..." 😨😂😂

    • @BleuTheWitch

No because August is so serious about the monarchy, he would thrive in it and I think he understands Saras choice and why.

    • @reddieweeb
      @reddieweeb 5 месяцев назад +7

@@BleuTheWitch If you were actually paying attention, Vincent and Nils made him realize that being a part of the monarchy as the heir would be a miserable life. How they will OWN him, and he can't party and have fun with his friends anymore.
I honestly think August only wanted to be a part of the royal family because he looked up to Erik for taking August under his wing when he was a scrawny first year that was getting bossed around by the older third years.
So he built this AMAZING image of what it would be like in the royal family. Because he admired Erik so much despite what the third years did to him when he was younger.
Vincent and Nils having an outside perspective on the whole idea voiced out how it would be the worst thing to be a part of it. That August's previews status was way better because he could chill and party without consequences. Now they OWN him. And he'll know first hand how hard it was for both Erik and Wilhelm.
For one single moment at the end of the series, I think he took his friend's words to heart and was happy because Wilhelm always said he would never let him take the throne. So August himself would be free to do whatever he wanted and was still a part of the royal family and be privileged like Vincent said.
Then he saw Wilhelm walking away from the queen. And August's face went from being happy to graduate and be free with his friends to straight up realizing reality. He looked a little scared there.

Ethan, you have no idea how much I wish we didn't live in two different continents and I could get to have coffee with you and just chat for hours about movies and shows and books, like for real!!
I came into this last episode the moment it was streaming, but I decided to come in with no expectations whatsoever; I didn't want to be disappointed and I was sure they wouldn't end up together. I had seen a clip for the YR Forever documentary, and there was something they said that made want to be hopeful, but I didn't allow myself to be.
I loved the episode and I really liked how they made me believe until the very ending that there was no more hope. You know when they said good bye? How Malin is looking at Wille in case she needs to chase after him, and the moment he starts walking backwards, she just disappears into the crowd? I was like, "Wow! This is his life. Always being watched. People letting him be as long as he's doing what he's supposed to."
I'm so happy the Queen is finally looking for help. It's true she had so much going on, and she didn't get to grieve her son's death, but she also completely abandoned her little boy. She decided to be 'his boss' instead of his mother when he seriously needed his mom. I'm glad they had that scene with her asking for forgiveness and Wille feeling his mom's love.
I know it was such a small scene, but I think that moment when Wille and August talk at the ‘Palace’s office’ was the moment that Wille let go of his anger towards August enough to accept that in the big picture August was probably the best option for the royal title; Wille never wanted it, he just didn’t want to fail his brother’s memory.
I think when August saw Wille leaving the car unaccompanied, he knew that Wille had made his choice and he understood that he was about to get what he’d always wanted, but he wasn’t sure anymore if he still wanted it. I think that talk with Nils and Vincent really moved him: they own you now.
That scene in the car with Wille and his parents showed so much of his growth as a character. He was honest and firm, but also calm while explaining to his mom what he wanted and why he wanted it or didn’t want it. You can see he finally came to accept that he wants to follow his own path and be allowed to do it. I loved the Queen just saying, “Let him go.” And I loved that he made sure to say “I love you,” before leaving.
I totally liked how they handled the Sara-Felice situation. And that shot that you had as your background in your Outro… that shot was my everything at the end: seeing Wille smiling and Simon looking at him with such adoration. I just loved it! And thank God for fanfiction because I’ve been inspired to write a little bit about Willmon.

I did the same thing, I couldn't go in with hope because it would have hurt way to much but that end was perfect and was even better as I thought it wasn't going to happen. Yes having al the resolutions for all the plot were great, parent finally understanding him, ausgust saying sorry and them being on the same page and sara and felice actually getting to be friend again. I don;t know how they did it, because I knew the ending was going to be good, but it was perfect and I think was so good for all of us fans

the realist in me wants to say hold on, just because he's not crown prince anymore doesn't mean that being part of the royal family is not going to be a problem. i think a lot of the homophobia would have happened regardless of whether he was crown prince. they're always going to be in the shadow of the monarchy unless they move to the antipodes.
but yeah, i'm being a Debbie Downer and it's never good to overthink this sort of thing.

I cried so much. Because it was somewhat relatable. Of course most of us are not prince of Sweden, I guess. But a lot of us were in situations as teens, that felt very bad. Just the pure imagination, that you have to behave better because you are the prince, I don't want that for anybody. Further I think having tons of money (or none) can cause further issues, as problems tend to blow up.
In the end I cried a lot (kinda unusual for me) because I was able to relate to Wille and Simon in a way. Most of us had situations where we were pressed into a role, or more like a costume that didn't fit us. Getting out of it, specially if you are Prince of Sweden and your parents cant really relate to your feelings doesn't sound easy in any way. I think they still can't in the end but somewhat accept it?
Out of those reasons, the last episode is my favorite episode of all 3 seasons. Plus that cute song from Simon.

Good moral teaching: Destroy gay love and win the crown 👑! Every gay child’s new dream. 😴 what a positive tale of homophobia rewarded, as they ride into the sunset like Thelma and Louis! Hopefully, there isn’t a cliff. Bad ending.

    • @birgittae9046

Disrespectful not to look upon all the three characters as three unique individuals. But instead label Wille and Simon only as ”The gays”. Wille and Simon each have their own unique motivations for their personal positions.
Understand that it is your own values that speak, but I, myself, am convinced that Wille sees himself as a winner by stepping down from the throne, regardless of future love relationships.
He felt neither motivated nor comfortable in donning the role of crown prince. Wille's personality shows that he values the inner life of the soul and close relationships highly and opts out when he can, to be seen and heard by the anonymous mass. He has actively done that several times during the series.
