Have you ever heard anybody sing like that. The power and emotion in his voice. His voice is totally exposed. He doesn't care! I am not sure out of 3 words I would describe this, magnificent, tremendous or wonderful!
Such a shame he never again got a writing partner as brilliant as Alan Rankine. BM's vocals are sublime on anything but tunes like the one in this video are just too ordinary.
I was fortunate enough to know billy when I was kid unfortunately I was to young to appreciate how much of a superstar he was to me he was just billy a quiet unassuming individual who loved his dogs and my grandfather x

A rare late night re-visit to this masterpiece.👌 I try not to too often, just too emotional for me 😔 always makes me shed a tear when thinking of Billy.😢 R.i.P xxx
I didnt recognise him with this look but as soon as I heard the first vocal note it was unquestionably "The Last King Of Scotland" the late great Billy Mckenzie, the greatest male vocalist of my lifetime - often misunderstood but his voice still stands above all others - incredible I hope u r in a better place Billy
Hi Sean. Being a Billy fan, you've probably heard 'In Windows All' from his Outernational album. Much like this song his voice soars and elevates the soul. I agree that he is indeed the best male singer in my lifetime as well. Cheerio.
Hearing Billy wail with such emotion at he end tears me apart. According to Block, he would just drink mineral water and eat honey to preserve his voice and warm his vocals singing Billie Holiday. Imagine. Billy singing Billie?????? :’ (
@@johnmacdonald4955 Billy sang a version of Billie's "Gloomy Sunday", a pean to suicide on the brilliant "Sulk". After his tragic death, it was years before I listened to the album again.
Billy was the perfect scariface tor the music industry I don't belive the story we are being told about his life and death the doomed tragic tigure scarifaced to the muses I see him much more than that all the deaths in his family more going on than we think we should question his death like so many musicians who have died in the past and will die in the future
This should have been a hit if it had been promoted properly. The emotion in Billy's voice just gets me every time.
Billy's voice was just breathtaking - one of the greatest male vocals in pop history of the 20th century!
One of the best singers ever
absolutely agree very sad that he never got the recognition he deserved rip billy

Timeless voice, in a age of rubbish like Maroon 5.

Correct me if I am wrong, but was it his mother’s death that finally pushed him over the edge?
The looks like Scotland Street school museum. I love this tune, very sad, evetime i listen to him
Excellent! Amazing. Don't be afraid of your maturity, it works, and does it just right.

Does anyone know where this was filmed
The cinema is the Glasgow Film Theatre, while the building with the windows and tiles is Scotland Street School Museum, also in Glasgow.
@@sgtrayelwood thanks for the info a great song and a timeless video
Terrible vid. He’d have been huge if someone who knew what they were doing had been involved. Great chanter
