I love this movie for the sole reason that there will always be a war on whether or not he is the villain, he played both protagonist and antagonist interchangeably in both movies, which creates so many conversation on where people stand with the blind mind. Both movies were pure gold because it was written in a way where either the whole cast were villains or they were all victims in their personal circumstances. Stephan Lang is incredible! This whole movie was him confronting his own demons as he came up against people who were just as insane (morally) as he is and only to be defeated by them in the end, was the BEST way to end the movie - it made him realise truly how much of a monster he really was when faced with monsters like himself. This shit is so underrated LMAO
Playing a protagonist only works for the character when facing other monsters.
He's still the same piece of shit rapist and kidnapper in the first film, and his treatment of the girl isn't love but possession.

Just saw this last night. These movies are really unique and twisty and scary. Probably the best suspense I've seen in a long, long time. Hope the creators of this continue in the genre with a new concept because they've got a lot of talent.
The fact that he’s playing the hero in this one, is more terrifying, because we know what he’s capable of now.

cause ya see when one of the senses is shut down the others kick in overdrive so adding that factor it aint too surprising. true it aint a likely thing and might be borderline unrealistic but it aint meant to be a perfect recreation of real life just on camera with acting... it's meant to be entertaining. and from what i can tell so far it is quite entertaining.

Very rarely have I seen a sequel that keeps up with the first movie..the makers have done full justice. Really appreciate every bit of the movie. Happy to know there are still original quality movies out there😮❤
I remember the first part. The whole theatre turned into nightmare. People were screaming and literally were not breathing in some of th beautifully crafted scenes.

I disagree.
While it may reduce his fear aspect, I think it pays homage to the side that was empathetic to his situation.
Like ya, what he did was was bad. But what happened to him was also bad. Even the protagonists in the first weren't goody 2 shoes.
The move from horror thriller to potentially John Wick action is a very cool move. Even if 2 isn't that good. We'll always have 1.

I'm actually surprised how well written this turned out to be. It keeps you thinking which character you should root for.. it was kinda like a Terminator 2 treatment but different. Now I have mixed/elusive feelings about Stephen Lang's character because of his actions in the first one (it's not justifiable like how Arnie's Terminator[s] was written) and that's just a FRESH feeling because I don't know what to expect if there's gonna be a next one.

I mean, in the first one, he never hurt anyone who didn’t deserve to be punished, he’s a blinded Vietnam veteran, he lost his daughter, he got robbed of his substantial life savings in the end-he seems really sympathetic.

I don't think they're trying to place him as the "hero" in this. The "villains" seem liked hired guns who are tasked with taking the girl back by whatever means necessary. Wouldn't be surprised if the twist here is that the girl is someone's daughter he kidnapped at an extremely young age to raise as his own.
I thought that girl form the sequel 1. He kidnapped the woman and force her to pregnant. I thought this is his daughter from the girl he kidnapped.

We watched this movie last night, I thought it would be a prequel of the first one , but it's a whole different story and we all love it, we keep talking about it up to now coz we can't get over it. Just finished watching this movie earlier and may I just say the movie made me wowed. It was incredible. And the new characters in the movie would made you go "disappointed but not surprised".

I don’t know how to feel about this because they’ve taken the bad guy and made him the good guy it seems. I loved the first so much because everyone was the bad guy.
See I find that to be an interesting dynamic, since he is still technically a bad guy, the new movie does not forgive the kidnaping in the past movie and I am interested to see the dynamic of that play out, which hopefully they will and they wont just say, "duUuUh hE gOoD guY now!" but actually flesh out the reaction from the kid, if those guys attacking his home are doing it out of revenge and if the mother who as we see in the trailer full of spoilers probably dies, knows anything about his past.
I can kind of understand that. When I watched the first movie I was losing my mind like, “I don’t know who to feel bad for here, everyone sucks.” And I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume whoever these kidnappers are know what’s up with this guy and even if the trailer was spoiler central, it should be interesting to see how it plays out even still. Although I can’t help but think that it’s odd that this man is now protecting a little girl considering his uh, sinister history, but I’m fairly sure that’s a common thought and an obvious one.

@@TravisHouze she did kill his daughter and if you read the story..it wasn't actually an "accident" .it was filed accident in court but the truth is that woman was on her phone while driving and she also neglected speed limit and traffic signals...so it kinda like she murdered his daughter

I love seeing evil people being hurt back when they judge the book by it's cover. Of course at first they see him as harmless because he is blind and old. But then they will realize that they mess with the wrong person. Imagine if all blind people could fight like this.

Based off of the first movie I’m guessing that he stole that little girl to be his new daughter and that these “villains” are actually people that have been hired to get the girl back to her real family.
That seems the most reasonable explanation.
