2024 wpx SSB Ameritron AL 1500

I been giving my amp a work out for the most part of a year. never push it hard because you don't have to, it will do legal limit very easy, the 8877 is an American eimac valve that came new with the amp from DXE. this amp does not have QSK, something that would be nice to have on the next cw wpx contest coming up. i only work 10 and 15 the antenna is a sirio cb antenna with my palkstar at4k tuner is my poor man's multiband antenna,

I love my AL-1500! One thing though, I did have the QSK board in mine when it came. The diodes to switch that kind of rf power quickly are expensive and they don’t really have enough on the board for legal limit. Keep it under a kw and it’s ok. It tends to break down or get hot much over 1200w. I’ve tried 3 separate QSK boards. They’re great, but cripple the potential this amp has. I recommend doubling up the diodes over whats there already or a vacuum relay! I don’t do much cw but full break-in vox was nice!
Nice compact QRO station! Like the ICOM 7610 with the headset too! The robot might be a voice or impaired individual? But neat stuff! Im not much for the antenna that you’re using, many that do have, swear by them. I do like the SPT-500 and look forward to working some time. W8RBJ

A friend became a Silent Key and as a favor to his xyl, I bought everything from his ham shack including an AL-1500 that saw minimum use. What is it worth? I am in Vermont.
