    Amazing! Hades condor must have shat his pants when he saw the town

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  6 лет назад +6

      Actually, for safety's sake, he came to town when only the base/basement level was completed (that fight is much easier to deal with when there's a flat open square up top to run around and place ballista). The townspeople were safe down below while the smackdown happened. However, it's most definitely open season on any little condor squawkers who get an idea to harass the town now. 😉
      Thanks for watching!

    Man, I love the names you gave some of the bridges, just gives it that extra spice. Especially considering the names you used were of the characters who actually did die in this chapter, great work!

    Wow, that's the best Rimuldar base I've seen. The layout's great, I love the little touches like the fires placed on hardwood blocks in the watchtowers. The towers themselves are great as well, I like the way you did the roofing. Great job, thanks for sharing! :-)

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  8 лет назад +1

      Jan Duin, thanks so much for the compliments--I'm always on the lookout for alternative uses for items/materials. I just wish that roofing tiles were considered regular blocks so I could roof my other two buildings in town. I'm holding out hope that perhaps it could get adjusted in a future update, and if it does, I'll definitely be back to finish it.
      Thanks for watching!

    I must say, the amount of time and dedication you put into his is inspiring! I played the story from beginning to end and thoroughly enjoyed it but never invested much into the terra incognita mode. This makes me want to jump back in and get the creative juices flowing. Being a life-long fan of anything Dragon Quest (Warrior) it would be amazing to attempt past game re-creations. My only hesitation is wether I should wait for DQ Builders 2 with its expanded building options. Thanks again for the video of your Fantastic creation!

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  6 лет назад +2

      Erdrick’s Descendant, yeah, the irony of this particular build is that while I enjoyed building it very much, hitting the item limit for placed items in town (which included roofing tiles as placed items for some reason) really dampened my excitement for Terra incognita mode. I'm really hoping that the limit is drastically raised in the sequel, because I love seeing larger creations/towns (and trying to build them myself). That said, I'm guessing the sequel is likely a year away from release in the West, so if you have the hankering to build now, the original is still a good option, even with the limitations. Thanks for watching, and I hope enjoy building something great no matter which game you decide to jump into!

    First off, your builds are amazing!!! Like you, I have spent countless hours on build in the regular chapters and not so much in Terra. I had some builds I was proud of, but they are stored on my old PS4 which my son has taken. (Gosh I hope he didn’t deleted the file, but he probably did! 😢). I’ve decided to play this game again. I’ve completed Cantlin story but not the build yet. (Time for a break from it). Going to start Chapter 2. This first time I know I removed all the swap water and I sure hope I can remember the best strategy. Lol. I love looking at all the different builds people make. I get great inspiration and great ideas. I have seen your comments on here and other places and I agree, that I love all builds, big or small!!! I have seen great ideas and creativity in both. I didn’t realize DQB2 is coming out this summer until I came on RUclips to see some DQB1 videos 😁😁😁. I overthink everything so DQB2 May be overwhelming for me, lol. I see a lot of people have been into DQB lately and maybe it’s because of the talk of the new one coming out. Anyways, your work is amazing and I think “how to build” things by you would be very popular!!!! Like how you built your towers, and roofed them. And your amazing bridges!!! I love the section in between your towers and would love to see how you built them. Also I have watched a lot of how to build videos, but no one ever talks about how the build gets from your head to reality. Like how much of it is preplanned? Do y’all make sketches and know what you are going to do? ESP if you care about assemetry(sp?). Do you just build and worry about how to put it altogether later?? Also. Because you like to build in the actual chapters, do you build small until you beat the chapter and then after that begin the huge build? TIA. Hope to see many more videos from you!!!! You are so creative and your attention to detail is amazing!! 👍👍

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  5 лет назад +1

      Hey, thanks so much for watching, along with the kind words! And I could totally see where some ‘how to’ videos could be popular-especially when the games are relatively new and more people are playing them. Unfortunately on my end, that would require a level of technical editing and time that would eat into the smaller windows of gaming time I get. And honestly, some of the finished products were very much an active exercise in experimentation (some of the roofing elements come to mind, especially on the towers since they were more circular). I did also try to pay attention to symmetry where I could with the towers, walkways, lighting, supports, etc. That in itself can take an inordinate amount of time, depending on your levels of OCD. All that said, the finished product was really the sum of many smaller ideas that sort of appear during the process of doing smaller things. I can totally understand how people might have a level of ‘analysis paralysis’ if they try to look at the big picture too early, so for that I always say start small. Think about something cool that’s totally doable, and set to work on it. Usually in the course of getting it done, either a problem will pop up that you’ll have to think about, or there will be some aspect where you might have adjust/reconsider your plans. Before you know it, you’ll be off on the next idea. And so it goes. Thanks again for watching, and hope you have fun building something cool, whether it’s in DQB1 or DQB2!

      Darknecros7, for sure! I'm sure you saw, but the trailer gave a good indication in that direction (along with co-op/online multiplayer). I'll definitely be keeping tabs on it, as the original was one of my favorite games last year. =)

      flooderdooden Yeah. Also I noticed you CAN go underwater and things look a LOT more higher as well. Now one thing I hope they do is put in some kind of challange/achievement log, or maybe some randomized quests for DQB2'S Terra Incognita, or whatever they call it's free build mode.

    • @Darknecros7
      @Darknecros7 7 лет назад

      flooderdooden Also hope that the increased limits/build spaces will inspire more ppl to recreate iconic sections from the DQ games (I heard DQB2 is gonna have something to do with DQ2s story, like the first DQB had ties with the 1st ones story in a way.

    My god! I'll never be this good at making towns like this!

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  6 лет назад +3

      Swordsmasterguy, now, now--it's totally possible with enough time spent. Start small with an idea and see where that takes you. Often during the process of completing a project, something else will come to mind. This was the process that moved me from point A to B here. For instance, I wanted another city with a basement structure, but the ground wasn't very deep to start, so the first project was building up. After the city entrance was then higher, I had to decide on a good method of entry, and that's where the bridges came in. Building the bridges in the poison bog was somewhat annoying, which led to my experimenting with replacing it with clean water. Having my previously finished city partially wrecked by the golem led me to fight the condor earlier in this chapter, and the four ballista towers came as a bit of creative thought about how the town would defend itself from similar attacks in the future. When the towers were built, I needed a way to connect them to the city. So on and so forth. 🙂
      Thanks for watching, and I hope you take the time to build (and share) something great if you're really enjoying the game!

      Zassõ, thanks for watching! You're right, things like this take time to do, but if you break down the big picture into smaller parts, you can still see a project like this through to completion. I love looking at other people's creations too, and have been utterly amazed at some of their efforts. I like to think that in building/crafting games like DQB, the community improves as a whole when people regularly share their creativity. To that end, I hope you and others enjoy this, and in turn, I hope it inspires you to build amazing things too and share them with us/the community (both now and when DQB2 releases)!

      Mark Haynes, for sure, especially the second teleportal island (for the brick, and especially the flagstone since there's no recipe for it in Chapter 2). What's also funny is that all the poisonous peat I dug up during the process of purifying the water ended up getting redistributed to the swamp area in the back part of the base world where you fight the big snail. When I was through with that, not only was there no swamp, but it was a decently sized hill. Thanks for watching, and hope you're enjoying the game!

      ian curt lacanilao, thanks so much! As for the how-to, my recommendation is to start small on a project and build out from there. At least on my end, usually in the midst of that small project, some new idea will come to mind. Keep tabs on those ideas and get to them once the current project is done. A dozen or so smaller projects later, and you'll have something far bigger than you ever thought you could build at the beginning. Thanks for watching!

    Came into this video thinking it was an amazing little town within the borders of the safe zone but as Doofus was getting closer to the town I was like "No way" and saw the bridge at the back whilst the graveyard in the foreground and my god I wouldn't have thought such a town was possible.
    Must've taken a real long time to make! If you wanna know what being too extra is then this is the video to show ahahah (I say that in a good way :'))
    And also, why is Jacob in his underwear in the Carpenter's Studio? X'D

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  7 лет назад +4

      BonBonToro, hey, thanks for the kind words and watching! In case you didn't see it some responses below, took roughly 700 days in-game to complete (with a good chunk of time coming from the process to purify the water). Also, you're the first person to ask about Jacob in his sexy wear, so good for you! In chapter 2, there's no recipe for sconces so the ones you find or salvage is all you get. I needed all the ones I found for the exterior(as they show up better from a distance), so all the lighting in town comes from naughty night lights, which causes some characters to strip down sometimes. Ended up being a pretty funny discovery/side effect. 😄

    • @BonBonToro
      @BonBonToro 7 лет назад

      Ohhhhh no wonder why, that makes sense then X'D
      Ahhh I remember starting chapter 2 for the first time and panicking that you can't make sconces as I was reliant on them for decoration in chapter 1 :')
      You can get them from caves but in the case of a town this big, there wouldn't be enough sconces from the caves to put all over your town ahahah

    very nice. is this an actual recreation of the original town? i cant remember.
    i love this game and am still on CH #3. so i have yet to test my mettle in Terra Incognito. this is a great game and very worthy of dethroning MineCraft. but it has much more potential then its current state. there are a few changes id personally make to the game. such as raise the height at which water can be placed. trust me this has been a pain in my ass as i keep forgetting when i decide to build rooftop gardens only to be disappointed that after all my work i cant place the damn water. further to that point i think that implementing a pump device would be excellent. or allowing people to create water falls. i would always welcome more room recipes. such as a desert garden and such. id make a craftable boat that traverses the seas, and maybe a hang-glider.
    essentially i believe that should continue to update its content much like minecraft does. after all this is Sony's version of minecraft and if they hope to take the throne and keep it, they need to keep the ball rolling. but alas, the creator has stated that the version that released on PS4 in america is considered to be the full and final version and he does not intend to provide more DLC. that and no Multiplayer aspect. he said that if the demand is high enough it would be worth consideration for a future installment (DQB2)

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  7 лет назад

      sandune02, as for the inspiration for this town, I mainly took the description from the chapter select screen. I'm not so purist as to look back to the original towns on the NES and attempt to re-create them (although that would probably be a neat project, down the road). And yeah, I totally agree with the thought about the water/waterfalls, though it's pretty obvious the game doesn't really have any sort of built-in water physics (besides how the water fills in open/adjacent spaces). Perhaps a sequel could add that, along with adding some form of multiplayer and raising the caps on which items can be placed within city boundaries. As another commenter pointed out too, it would also be nice if trees could grow outside of just the town boundaries, or could grow/replenish organically from stumps.
      Square-Enix does have a hit on its hands though, if they're willing to market it more aggressively and consider future post-game support (patches, possible DLC, etc). They certainly could tap into the Minecraft market with the right changes/exposure. While I understand their thoughts behind the separate chapters/saves, it would also be neat if there were an option to have one continuous world with all the towns there. Part of the fun and wonder of the original games was the size of the world and exploring/finding its secrets, and it would be cool to experience that scale again in the context of a building game like this. Hopefully we get a sequel/follow-up that realizes some of these hopes, while retaining the core of what makes this first game great.
      Thanks for watching and your comment!

      @flooderdooden2179  6 лет назад

      Andrew Thielmann, yeah, unfortunately you never get the recipe for sconces in Chapter 2. Any that you see in this vid have been scavenged from the various teleportal worlds. Given that they look better from afar, that's why you might notice that mostly every light in town is a naughty night light, and everything outside of town is a sconce. In some ways, it can be frustrating, but at the same time, it can also be seen as a positive challenge in trying to do the most with what you're given. Good luck with finding everything you need for your town, and thanks for watching!

      KrazyKatGamer99, you're right, some aspects of the 'outer town' was time time consuming--especially the water purification and poison peat removal. Instead of deleting the peat from my colossal coffer inventory, I ended up depositing it elsewhere on this island, so it added that much more time to the process. I believe when all was said and done, this took roughly 700 days of in game time. However, I love the reflections you get from the clean water at certain times of the day, so it was worth it for me. :P
      I just wish I could have finished aspects of my town instead of hitting the limit on placed items, particularly with the roofing. It's too bad they're not considered blocks. I'd be back here in a heartbeat to finish the town if an update fixed the issue.

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  7 лет назад +1

      TheMazzken, hello--if you're looking blueprints for certain rooms, I would take a look at the Dragon Quest Builders subreddit, as there's a spreadsheet that breaks down what you need for each room. If you're talking overall design though, that's a bit trickier and depends on your imagination. Obviously, a good portion of the fun in this game is the creation/evolution part--so that being said, I would say start small and don't stress too much with a large scale vision right from the start. Usually you'll find that new ideas/adjustments start to pop up after you're knees deep in a project. Take it one step at a time, and I guarantee you'll have something good before it's over with! 😉

      Hey, sorry for the delay in responding! To answer your question, essentially yes. It was a longer process of filling in areas of the poisoned bog, then using the clean water block/crystal to create the clean water, then carefully expanding the clean area while filling in the areas with the poison. I then relocated the poison peat to the back area of the home map, where you fight the giant snail (eliminated that entire poison bog that way too). Thanks for watching!

      Sam Ashley, hey, those are slime balloons. According to a recipe list I just consulted, you should be able to craft it with slime skin, wood, and cord. Thanks for watching!

    how did you manage to fit all of that in to your bsae? its very limited and I can hardly fit in anything

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  6 лет назад

      SuperGamesBYM, good question! The actual town is limited to the interior rectangle, while the exterior walkways, towers, etc are outside the boundary. The good thing about doing it this way is that you don't run into placement limitations for things outside the boundaries. I'm not sure if you've decorated to this extent, but you can actually hit a limit within the boundary which can be frustrating. That said, if you build outside the boundary, keep in mind your town's characters won't venture that far, and if any rooms cross the boundary, they won't count.Thanks for watching, and good luck building!

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  6 лет назад +4

      Fruitarian, hello--actually the skeleton is a dragon skeleton (the only one in the entire chapter, I believe) that I took creative license to rename/reuse. Thanks for watching!

    How come the water isn't poisoned anymore? I've cleared chapter 2 as well but the water stayed the same.
    BTW awesome work on this one! :D

      Leo Oswald Berdon, thanks for watching and the compliment! The water isn't poisoned because I used the water crystal to generate clean water and then systematically removed the poison water with brick, while cutting out the part that was next to clean water to expand the clean water. It was a pretty large project, but once completed, made everything look far better to me (reflections off the water, etc).

    hi..around the minute 2.45, in the video you see the "Hades Condor"..where can I find it?..thanks..by..

    • @flooderdooden2179
      @flooderdooden2179  6 лет назад

      HammerLil, sadly there's no way to get any sort of bones from the real Hades Condor after you beat it. The skeleton you see in the museum is actually a dragon skeleton you can get in the third teleportal (if I recall correctly). However, when I saw it, my first thought was of the Hades Condor, so I used a bit of creative license/imagination in 'designating' the bones to be the condor instead. :)

      thank you very much for the answer..could you tell me the exact location of this skeleton ?.you have created a masterpiece..really congratulations

      HammerLil, in the third teleportal, the majority of the map is desolate with tons of grave markers everywhere. Once you spawn, if you trace your way forward and towards the left, there will eventually be an opening in which you can get to the back of the map (you can see this distinction by the change from dirt ground to grass). If I recall correctly, the dragon bones are on/around the ancient 'doorway' separating the two areas. There should be a ladder you can climb to get to where they are. Hopefully this gets you pretty close, and apologies if I couldn't be a little more exact. It's been a little over a year since I last played this level, so there may have been a better way of explaining it that has escaped me. Thanks for the compliments, and best of luck in your search/travels!

      mrlobster1287, hey, thanks for watching! And no need to feel bad-- the best aspect of these games is letting your imagination go wild. You probably had a different approach than I did too and focused more on completing the chapters/game. Keep in mind that this took roughly 700 days of in-game time. If you spent that much time in a single chapter, I'm sure you could come up with something similar. Take care!
