Yes! Thank you so much for doing this for us there is a serious lack of in depth customization and personalization tutorials for STO and this game has so much depth it's insane but it's also very hard to tell what's actually going on for a lot of people they get discouraged because there is so much to keep track of and they miss the wonder that is the complexity and sophistication of the customization and the personalization of the whole experience. I love the gamei keep coming back to it but I get so lost I never run out of things to do but I always feel like I should be doing something else I am so lost I'm just wandering around wondering if I should be doing something more important or if my ship and my character and my away team are even set up decently haha
This really helped thanks. I'm a lifer who hadn't played in ages until recently and so many things are confusing coming back. Going to try and find something on kits now:)
the Boff needs to be promoted to learn that level of skill. it is worth promoting those you want to learn skills all the way up to commander so they can learn all skills in their specialties. :)
Having this problem= I trained my science officer the Temporal skill specialization but can't equip the power in the "Space" slot... the power is greyed out and tells me "not supported at this station". whats wrong??
That station doesn't support the specialization you want to use in that station. Select the boff by the symbol in your stations window and find out what specializations your ship actually supports. Necro post but meh.
If i changed my ship, it sometimes can and cannot use abilities that i had on previous ships, only one ship and officer can use omega on certain ships, also buying abilities for my crew wont work when i go to use them? so i have training manuals gathering dust in my inventory!
D ‘M60power’ campbell At the bridge officers window, where you select a bridge officer to use on your ship. If you click on the abilities on the right side of your screen. You can change those. Let me know if you got it working.
If i have the Specialization Qualification for Bridge Officers and i push "learn", than the Brigde Officer have the new abiltiy and the old one at the same time, or the new ability overwrite the old one? I dont think the former specialization i know only one specialization active at the some time, but the abilties that are before the first Specialization Qualification is active and the "active specialization" abilties at the same time?
Apart from you getting sidetracked a few times........a great video. I commissioned a Pilot and learned some skills but they were greyed out! I guess I need to create the Pilot Manual? I think I can mow figure it out. Thanks man
I know that there was a intel boff as a mission reward but I keep thinking that there also was a intel spec manual as a mission reward but can't quite remember which mission it may have been obtained from.
Great info!! Taught me how to add more abilities to my team. But how can they upgraded to level 2 or 3 abilities? Because even as a lvl 60 fed character, the only abilities that are levels 2 or 3 is if they came with the bridge officer. Cannot find anywhere on how to be able to apply any crafted or purchased lvl 2 or 3 abilities?
it sure is when it comes to specializathions i have 1 officer trained as mirical worker and i have the manual so if i wish i can train another officer in same skil but how do i get the main manual whihc will allow me to train the officwers in r@d rescarch and development i no you ca make them there but that is same no tutorial on how to use system
Please advise I'm level 51. I have t6 starship mastery triats up to level 3 so far. On my captain skills Trait Starships traits are still all locked even tho I'm lv 51 and have unlocked starship mastery up to lv 3.
@@RaAdii In the C - Store you can buy two more BO ... If i do that can i add them to my curent crew for more starship traits ? I curently have 5 BO can i get to 7 on a ship ?
i have some officers like that and they have self space abillitys, which one i can use on my bridge in starship. (for example skill intelligens team or something like that) but i can't use it cause it write that error "this skill is not suposted on this station" but there in it. I can try to sen't a screenshot for you.
hey love ur vids, very informative on the game. was wondering if you had the chance to try this out on platform. I cant find any crafting screen to make the bridge officer specialization, any help would be appreciated
Blood Bathroom Greetings, thank you for the comment on my video. Unfortunately i do not own a PS4/Xbox so i am unable to help you out here :(( truly sorry mister!
upgrading gear, you need to use the RnD panel to make upgrades in the RnD category you want. for instance, lets say you wanted to upgrade a quantum torpedo, or any torpedo for that matter... all you would do is 'build' torpedo upgrades. scroll to the bottom of torpedo RnD list and the four entries above upping the skill level in torpedo itself are the upgrades themselves. you will need a LOT of them. I upgraded a quantum torpedo from a blue to gold and it took over 150 upgrades, and a ton of Di lithium. if I remember rightly, it was about 1,085 Dil per upgrade used. But, for that cost, I got a VERY nice gold quantum torpedo that is enhanced by Boff skills, ship consoles, and my captain's abilities. I suggest you make about 100 to 150 per color you wish to upgrade. upgrading greens is just too costly, and blues are more readily available. upgrading a purple is easy, but you'll pay through the nose in EC to get it. it's your choice as to how you want to go. If you have plenty of EC, then buy the higher color item and upgrade from there. if you are tight on EC, you can buy the lower class and upgrade from that point, but it will cost more in terms of upgrades and Di lithium. ONLY upgrade a green as a last resort, and ONLY if you have a crap ton of Dil... and I mean a LOT... well over half a million at the least, since you will be burning through it to push the item through so many rarity levels. personally, I take the hit on EC to buy the purple items I want and upgrade from that. Some blues are good enough to start the process, and usually those that I do upgrade from blue upwards, come from lock boxes. this is all just advice. use or ignore as you wish.
Frank Smedley Thanks Frank. I'd like first to upgrade the disruptor pistol (purple) reward from the temporal mission. I bought an upgrade, paid the dilithium & blammo, nothing happened. I know I'm doing something wrong.
as I said, you will need about 80 to 100 upgrades of the relevant type. your pistol for instance, make about 50 or 60 ground upgrades. I suggest the better ones, not the one needing salvaged tech, but the next one down. once you have 50 or so, then you upgrade and pay the Dil costs. each 'upgrade' is a chance to improve the weapon. it takes quite a few to fulfill the basic amount of upgrading to upgrade the item, you will note as you go, that occasionally, you will get a percentage chance... it is actually what you are going for, when the percentage is high enough, the upgrade happens even if you have not put in enough experience at that upgrade. upgrading stuff is a way to improve your items, but it does cost a lot of Dil, and time and the components to make the upgrades. Also, don't worry too much about left over upgrades. IF I remember right, you can sell any extras on the Exchange for EC.
No, not a lottery, but you do have to use enough upgrades to up the percentage of successful completion. Personally, I only upgrade blues, and purples to golds. My primary Toon's ship now has all gold phasers and quantum torps, along with all gold consoles. Pretty good, when the ship is a Yamato class Dreadnought Cruiser, with the spinal lance. :)
Note to those new to the game like myself... I found out in reading the online wiki for STO that the special abilities training manual doesn't unlock until your character reaches level 50 (T5). One RUclips tutorial stated the fastest way to level up is to do many side missions like the deep space encounters and patrols to gain experience points. You get a lot of extra equipment you won't need in your inventory which can be salvaged to quickly rack up raw materials for R&D training. I'll see y'all out there in the U.S.S. Honey Bandger tearing up the galaxy cause "the honey badger don't give a $h!t !"
Actually, it's not pronounced low-bye, but 'low-Bee' instead. This might be a regional thing, as I have noticed English speakers from other countries do not pronounce words the same as the British or Americans do.
I hate the STO skill system. Overcomplicated and poorly documented (like most in this game). It's just too easy to fuck up your complete character if you want a half way good ability account that can meet with most the opponents in the game.
dreamyrhodes In the future I will do a video tutorial on the new skill system stay tuned for that because it is not really over complicated just some really fancy words that needs a little bit of explanations
Tell him to press "k" and open the fleet station menu and go to their PERSON. Then click skills and scroll down which training skill you want them to learn for either space or ground. Using the "learn" button will use the according manual. You can BUY bridge officers from a fleet space ship. Go to the fleet space dock and find the personall officer and buy personel. Then make the people into manuals. Level the people you use (their skills) or unlock better personel using fleet marks. To get fleet marks you have to have a fleet
Worst part of the game. Hunt the right skill, get the right officer, get the right manual, get the right command slot, SORRY YOU NEED THE RIGHT SHIP. Terrible awkward design.

Great Vid again dude thx for the info! Helped me loads :)
Do you have a video of just the specializations and the qualifications for it
Great video explaining, good detail. A side question though why haven't you showcased a Temporal Paradox yet? I love that ship.
Venra Well i do not have that ship yet will have to set a goal to get it.
Is there any other locations to get (rare /very rare ) manuals , not the Sol Base ?
Having this problem= I trained my science officer the Temporal skill specialization but can't equip the power in the "Space" slot... the power is greyed out and tells me "not supported at this station". whats wrong??
is that science officer assigned to a temporal station?
That station doesn't support the specialization you want to use in that station. Select the boff by the symbol in your stations window and find out what specializations your ship actually supports. Necro post but meh.

You need to have at least 22-23 points in a specific specialization on your captain before you can R&D craft qualifications for specializations.
