I was at this show! A fan since 1987, I'd missed them in 89 when they toured with PiL and Sugarcubes so this was my very first NO live gig. Despite Gillian not being there it was a great show. Thanks for sharing this!
The crowd can't appreciate this banger for what it is. This is what it feels like to be on the plane/boat home from Japan, Vietnam, Afghanistan. This is a military man's song.
@@nonobbody I guess when I posted my comment I was speaking from personal experience. I listened to this on my way out of Afghanistan in 2021 and it really killed me the way we pulled out of that country. We left a bunch of pro-american afghani nationalist army that were essentially slaughtered by waves of insurgents. I think you'll find that a lot of us veterans don't feel kindly towards military action. In my original comment I guess I meant that this song captures what it feels like when a war is finally over and you're back home and feel dead inside. So I feel like this is a military song in the same sense that "Fortunate Son" and "Johnny I Hardly Knew Ya" are. I apologize for not being clear in my original comment.
@@rudydavis6574 I understand, I too apologize if you felt judged by it, I can't hardly imagine what you've been through. I don't respect the concept of an army and war, but I have nothing but respect for people that fight in them and endure it. I hope you're doing better friend.
@@nonobbody No problem bro, just felt the need to explain myself. Love songs like these because it connects the anti-war folks to those who have been there and back in a meaningful and constructive way. Thank you.
Great, great song. RIP all troops from the USA and the UK. Welcome home from your dessert dusts, to your resting place. This song wasn`t made for it, but it fits.
Have always loved this song... Thank you for posting.
I was there and will never forget it! What an amazing night it was!
This song never gets old

Is this song about a soldier who was mistakenly reported KIA or about a soldier's ghost?
