  • Finally, we're back at Brands Hatch, the circuit I do seem to visit more than any other. To start us off we've got action from the BARC as they continue with their annual Truck Racing Easter weekend meeting, and as per usual, the event did not disappoint. Changeable conditions and close racing is always a good mix for spicing things up with some heart in mouth moments, and this meeting was not short of them! We did have a few accidents but thankfully the cars did their jobs and no significant injuries were sustained.
I'm slowly but surely getting used to the fact the old filming location is no longer, going elsewhere does still feel a bit alien but I like to think I can make it work!

In 1984 I went to my first race at Brands as a "Trucky" with a Lola T610 Group C car on board...Arriving late at night I was told to drive my truck under the Timing tower....It didn`t fit!!!!!! Took out all the Timing gear!!!.... Then after 27 years working in Motor Sport, form FF 2000 to 17 years working for Maclaren..... Brands has always been my Favourite Circuit......But they need to get rid of the Gravel at Paddock.... I told Nicola Foulston when she was in charge.... Did she listen????? No.... :-))

It's a pretty fast corner, at the end of a straight - what on earth would you replace the gravel trap with, that can stop a truck?

@@Chilled_Mackers Well a lot of Circuits have gone back to Tarmac...Like Copse at Silverstone.... :-))

@@shirleyboy8859 Sure, a flat, wide open corner would suit tarmac. Paddock HIll is not flat, the run-off isn't wide and it is at the end of the start/finish straight. Not forgetting the paddock is the otherside of that corner. Gravel is the only option there. Look at how far a truck can slide in this video, off at Graham Hill, sliding UPHILL, then flatening the barrier. Personally, I think they should add gravel alongside that barrier - to protect it. 5 tons sliding is no joke. Grass and gravel make Brands Hatch a stunning track, like Donington - no excessive tarmac.

5:30 watched this with shock, I was rooting for #44 cause I made their car into a Pixar car and when I saw that I was like oh god, I even saw them taking off the bumper and there was gravel everywhere
On the day John Powell got taken out by Rivett that had me annoyed cause we didn’t take part in the race that was next

Unfortunately it is a really tall, thick fence, no chance you could see over it. I also find it quite intrusive in the sense that it hurts to look through for too long.
