Wanted to say that myself. Given the official flag of Imperial Japan was the Hinomaru as is used right now, it should be more criticized over the Army flag really
@@MannyHeffley077 : Yeah, but with a weird golden frame. The Navy has almost the exact same flag of the IJN, and the Air Force has some shield on a blue background.
Man the people are the same, the culture remained the same the land remained the same! Changing a flag does not mean anything for Japan as much as it does for Germany! Its a sun without sun rays or with sun rays, thats all!
Actually, as of 2024, Kyrgyzstan is the latest country to change its flag. The sun's rays were straightened so that it was not mistaken as a sunflower since sunflowers in Kyrgyz culture can signify "a fickle and servile person willing to switch allegiance for personal benefit."
@@MSKofAlexandria I don't know. Something about it feels off to me. I don't really like the colors, because they are too saturated for my taste, or at least the red for being so prominent. I don't think the Soviet Union's flag looks bad for example, because there the red is much more pleasing to the eye.
The Imperial Japanese flag was almost exactly the same as the one Japan uses today. The one that some people say "Imperial Japanese flag" is the army flag. I think the military flag was put on the occupied land, so it became famous as the Imperial Japanese flag.

Petition for Drew to make a series covering Ace Combat and its multiple universes: [Day 363] The 363rd Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group is a United States Air Force unit stationed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis. It is assigned to the 363rd Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing. It was activated in February 2015, after having been returned to regular service after operating as a provisional unit. The group has its origins in the 363rd Fighter Group, activated on 1 August 1943 at Hamilton Field, California. The unit was credited with 41 victories but lost 43 of its own aircraft during World War II.
Sri Lanka's flag was changed in 1972 to reflect the country's new name and status as a republic. The flag's corners were previously decorated with symbols that looked like spearheads. In 1972, the country's name changed from Ceylon to Sri Lanka, and the flag's corners were replaced with four stylized leaves of the Bo (Pipul) tree.
I'm a bit disappointed they didn't use the inverted blue and red colors as the flag change for the Philippines during wartimes, but I understand why they chose the Japanese flag to symbolize their occupation.
Is there a possibility that the national flag will change in the future depending on the circumstances of each country? Britain is an island collector, an island enthusiast. understood Islands are nice, but plains, plateaus, and hills are more relaxing.
After the British Union Jack, Palestine first gets the Jordanian flag since it was occupied by Jordan (and Egypt) in the Arabian-Israel War. In 1968 it becomes occupied by Israel instead (not represented in the flags here).
Fun Fact: at 6:09 the reason the Palestinian flag is the Jordanian flag in 1948 is because Jordan occupied the West Bank from 1948 until 1967. The flag we see in common use for Palestinians today wouldn't represent an official governing body until Israel allowed the Palestinian Authority to govern certain areas of the West Bank in 1994.

The reason why the "Imperial Japanese" flag wasn't used was because that wasn't actually Japan's flag. That was just their army's flag if I'm correct.
Wanted to say that myself. Given the official flag of Imperial Japan was the Hinomaru as is used right now, it should be more criticized over the Army flag really
More than the army flag, it was the armed forces's flag.
It’s still the army’s flag I think
