This is the second time today, and the second time in my life, that I've heard someone say "DEVINE" instead of "divine." WHAT THEU HEL., SIS WRONG WITRHG HTHIS WWORLDLl!
The best renditions I have ever heard especially Allegro and c-minor prelude. I really like the tempo. I found something in common with César Franck's organ works here ...melancholy built on pain and loneliness. It sounds sometimes harsh, but beautiful.
Thanks for sharing. I'm listening now. The opening selection is one of my favorites. I adore how the chorale springs forth from the allegro; then the fugue seems to melt into place for a stunning conclusion. Can't wait to hear Sonatas one and six!
Это просто невероятная красота звучания. Люблю Мендельсона,но органные произведения услышала впервые ,я потрясена. Восторг! So Great works. First time listening I amazed.
The photograph of the interior of the church, at least at the beginning of this video, looks remarkably like the church grew up in as a child, the Stanford University Memorial Church in Stanford, California, USA.
Perfection! True to the composer's heart. Serious tragedy however. Those of us who long to play the pipes have nowhere to do so. They're tearing them down for scrap metal price. I'm crying just thinking about it.
@@perrykufferath1146 If not the Berliner Dom then likely the Stanford University Memorial Chapel (or Church) that I attended as a young child and later to listen to the organ.
Fantastic Music !
Absolutely Devine!!🙏😇

The sonata "Our Father in heaven" is my favourite piece. Thanks for sharing!

Sonata Op. 65 No. 6 in D Minor is one of the greatest organ works of all time.

Addicted to the Ostinato - like Bach's Passacaglia (for sure in Mendelssohn's mind)
Yes, I noticed the same thing. Mendelssohn doesn't do much with other's work, to my mind!

I want to know OP. for the first work :)
Nice performance. Great. Knows someone where it is been recorded?
It sounds indeed as if it was recorded in the Berlin Dom as on the image above.
@@cornelislit4976 No, see description. The image is unrelated to the recordings.
Which church/basilica is this a picture from?
I think it is the Berlin Dom on the so called Museumsinsel in Berlin
@@cornelislit4976 I am not sure which church it is, but it is definitely not the Berliner Dom. Berliner Dom is a lot bigger, I've been there.

Stanford University's Memorial Church.
Which organ/church is this?
Stanford University Chapel organ
+Doug Archer There are 5 organs if I am not mistaken. Nice sound!
A fugue with a tremulant? That's pretty strange.
How to make org anmusic boring!
how do you not like this? Mendelssohn was a master organist and composer!
