In einem 3,5 Meter breiten viereckigen Raum ist das ja leicht dargestellt. Sobald der Raum verwinkelt ist wird das nicht funktionieren

It could, but the centre-line of your planks would be offset by 50mm compared to the centre-line in the room. To accomplish e-f = c-d, just lay the tip of your starting triangle at centre-line in the room.
