- The Spiderwick Chronicles follows the coming-of-age story of the Grace Family, as they move from New York to Michigan and into their family’s ancestral home. Upon arrival, the family not only uncovers mysteries hidden inside their great grandfather’s Spiderwick Estate, but also discovers a secret, fantastical world around them.
An ensemble cast of actors bring the series’ beloved characters to life including Joy Bryant as “Helen Grace"; Noah Cottrell as “Simon Grace"; Lyon Daniels as “Jared Grace”; Mychala Lee as “Mallory Grace”; Jack Dylan Grazer as the voice of “Thimbletack” and Christian Slater as “Mulgarath.”

The Original Spiderwick Chronicles 2008 Movie was a Masterpiece. This movie can't compete with the original one.
The funniest part is that the books were a communed effort with an illustrator.....they had the precise look of the series on paper and they still demolished it beyond recognition....i am baffled at how bad they managed to ignore the feel of the characters, the settings and the vibe of this much of a solidly laid fundation

Just because a show has a black actor/actress doesn't make it woke.
It's "woke" because the characters in the books were white and they've cast black actors. Not a problem except for the fact film's badge for diversity is just to race swap white actors with black actors. Other races do exist you know. Be diverse.

@@GRH_Roadhouse The race of the kids was never brought up in the books. We only know they're white thanks to the illustrations. The change isn't neccesary, but it doesn't impact the story and make it less of an enjoyable adaptation.

The grace family are European lineage and these characters are based in New England it’s a state that allows no swapping of culture. The original is waaaay better. Plus let’s make another European gods of Egypt 😅

Another politically correct, diversity based pile a remake of which I’m guessing isn’t going to get a season 2
A) I'm not sure why race is such an oh so important factor to the story. If it weren't for the illustrations in the books we wouldn't even know the skin color of the characters.
B) The movie, whilst a decent family film in it's own right, was a really awful adaptation. Entire characters, important scenes and even a whole book were left out of it.
C) It doesn't need a second season. If anything the original books would work perfectly fine as an 8-9 ep long miniseries.
