NOT A GRAVEDIGGER The statue depicted on the grave likely represents Eugenio Villoresi, the individual credited as the "Ideatore del Canale Omonimo" (Creator of the Eponymous Canal). The canal mentioned here is almost certainly the **Villoresi Canal**, a major irrigation canal in the Lombardy region of Italy, named after Eugenio Villoresi himself. • Possible Symbolism: The figure in the statue, who seems to be leaning on a tool, might initially appear to be a gravedigger to some viewers due to his humble posture and rustic appearance. However, given the context of the inscription, it’s more likely that the figure represents a worker or a labourer involved in the construction or maintenance of the canal-a nod to the practical, physical labour required in the massive engineering feat of creating a waterway. The canal would have involved many such workers, making this figure a representation of those who helped realise the grand project. • Explanation of the Inscriptions: - **Eugenio Villoresi** is noted as the creator of the canal, suggesting that he was a visionary or engineer responsible for its planning and development. - **Rosa Villoresi Baffa** and **Luigi Villoresi** are also mentioned, with Luigi being described as the "Degno continuatore della grande opera paterna" (Worthy successor of his father's great work), likely meaning he continued his father's legacy, perhaps maintaining or further developing the canal after Eugenio's death. The overall design of the grave, with bas-reliefs of faces (presumably family members or significant figures in his life) and the tools, evokes a connection to both the intellectual and physical labour involved in the creation of this major public works project. The combination of humble worker imagery with the canal in the background reflects both the engineering achievement and the role of everyday workers in making it a reality. Thus, while the statue might resemble a labourer or even a gravedigger, it likely symbolises the hard work and engineering vision that contributed to the creation of the canal.
I have watched other similar channels as yours but you are still the original! Don't mess with the original! It's something about your voice! Your channel is so relaxing to watch!
Beautiful and overwhelming. My goodness, each memorial out-does the last just like the masoleums. I love hearing the gravel underfoot. What is wrong with people? (From the last video.) Touché Dan! ♥️☘️
If Wikipedia is not letting me down : The grave of the Villoresi family you showed at the end all had something to do with botany and agriculture in some way or another. . I don't think that statue is representing a gravedigger. Eugenio Villoresi for example build the canal that was named after him and is one of the founders of the Agricultural Society of Lombardy.
Just popped over😂 as soon as this popped up. There's a waterproofing spray that you could spray on your backpack & stuff that would help to keep them dry. I've sprayed my tent ect & it really helps also put it on my rain gear.
You should definitely get a dry bag inside your main bag. Keep the camera gear nice & dry. Is it a go pro you’re filming on? Very interesting place Dan, you sure been in Italy sometime now.
I'm so enamored by this cemetery. It's as if I've been there before, yet until you went there, I hadn't remembered. I know, tack me up to a weirdo list❤
What an amazing cemetery, and I’ve never called a cemetery amazing before. Beautiful statues and mausoleums, and the place is clean and well kept. And don’t feel bad, I’ve always had trouble pronouncing “ swiss cheese”. Swish sheese. Shwish cheese…. Oh well. 😊
Don’t feel bad, I can’t say milk right…sounds like I’m saying melk. I can’t stand it, but it is what it is. Love the videos. That statue would have made me jump too, weren’t expecting someone sitting behind that column.
This is by far the most beautiful cemetery that I have ever seen!!! Thank you for showing it to us. Beautiful!
The artistry and quality of these burial grounds are second to none.
That's what I was thinking as well.
Wow, one of the most stunning cemeteries I’ve seen. I loved all the beautiful green trees. Stunning thank you all the way from Queensland Australia 😊
incredible cemetery, true works of art at every turn. Thank you so much for posting.

Can you please spend more time showing the dates of the descendants?
it would take too much time.
Please give some close-up shots of the names and years carved on the tombstone.
What an angry face and stance on "terminator girl." I wonder what they were thinking.
Dan, on further consideration, l believe you need to ask your subscribers a question. Is she Terminator Girl or Computer Alice from Resident Evil?
Corrado is a male name. Young boys wore clothing similar to what we would see on girls today. His pageboy hair style was also typically male.
Corrado is an Italian boy's name, a variation of Conrad. In days past, young boys were dressed as the statue was, with similar haircuts.
