I’m not going to show any storm damage either. There are way to many nice things to see on that trail to show anything else. Except for the heat and humidity, it was a great day. We’ll need to visit the overlooks again in a few weeks when the leaves are turning. Nice job my friend.
Hi Kerry, my name is Bill Reed with Happy Hikers of Knoxville and I will be leading a group here on November 14. I will do the scout either this Thursday (10/17) or next Thursday. I believe the group would enjoy it much more if I could make it one way at 4 - 5 miles rather than the 6.4 out and back from 154. Is there room for 3-4 cars at the Mesa trail head? Also, have you heard anything about clean up on the canyon section of the trail? Thanks, Bill
The parking area was expanded and will easily hold 4 cars now. Judging from the damage and that it depends on state money, I don’t see it being cleared any time soon.
@@BillReed-ok2or Pogue website still says down. You can hike in from Blackhouse to Mesa then go down to killdeer and check it out. Wouldn’t go past there though. From Parking on 154, trail forks so you can go out and back on a loop.
@@kerrywoolbright5716 Thanks again Kerry. Was unable to do the scout today. Might go tomorrow as I have to get the hike details on the newsletter before the end of the month. This way I will have time to pivot off to Lilly Point or another trail. Just incase, any other recommendations in the area other than Pickett? (did that earlier in the year)
Nice hike fellers!
We only stayed one night in the ER

Yes we do maybe throw in Ky Overlook. Couldn’t film the damage. I was too busy fighting for my life🤪
Amazing
Rough hike. But it's on us. No one's fault but ours. Still beautiful country.
I am blaming Nichole😂
