Does working part time in retirement appeal to you? I recently set up a vault with resources on my website: retirecertain.com/wealth-building-tools-22/
I could not love this video more - YES to all of it! I'm especially glad to hear how you believe running an online business is a viable (and flexible) option to earning part-time income during this time in our lives. Thank you for sharing this!
Retiring full time work at 57 and going to work part time until 59 1/2. Lucky to have private pension and medical. Maybe withdraw 2.5 percent of 401k and leave my Charles S. acct to accumulate. Good information as always.
I’m retiring 1st quarter 2025 at 62, but I’m definitely going to work part-time. I’m just not ready to completely stop working, but after 40+ years working in the corporate world, a part-time job far away from corporate work is retirement to me. My current job is not ‘stimulating’ all so I’m ready to leave it behind.
Also, when you're working part-time while having the financial means to quit working altogether, that part-time work is far less stressful. But, on the flip side, so much financial and lifestyle comfort and security could make it harder to implement a radical life change and lead to regrets as the end of life nears.
I only work part time, and I personally believe it's the sweet spot, rather than full time retirement. For one, it provides structure in your life. Second, the extra income allows you enjoy your life a little bit more and not have to watch your budget as much. But I think it depends on how easy your job is as well. No way I am going to retire yet, even I am able to. I have plenty of time to goof off working part time. If you're really too busy to work part time, then I would fully retire. However, I don't know anyone like that.
Very informative and thought provoking video! I always thought in all or nothing terms when it came to retirement. So glad to get the “meet in the middle” perspective because for better or worse, after 25 years, my career is apart of my identity and I’m not the one who likes dealing with the stress snd strain of traveling all over the place so I’d be bored to an early grave if i fully retired from one of the things that has given me purpose and meaning in life.
Good video. I'm 50 and have some money saved but I work a 12 hr weekend shift. The job pays well and the work is very manageable. I could easily handle this job at 60-65. Plus it'll only be 3 days a week. I'm looking into delaying retirement, enjoy may week days and just keep working.
Hi. I’m hoping someone can answer my question. I am 60 years old and planning to work less (3 days instead of 5 days). Will I be penalize for that 36% penalty for early retirement when I decide to fully retire at 65 yes old? And if so, how much in percentage?
I have retired from full time job in 2020 march(beginning of covid).i was in specialised engg business.i shifted to different city where all my friends, brothers & sisters stay. After 6 month same company contacted and asked me to join back which i refused.then they offered me to accept work from my home town either on fixed amount or on commission.to me at age 65 freedom was more important than money.i selected commission basis and earning almost 50-60% of my last full time salary.i have devote 1-2 hrs/day.i from india.

I love the idea of part-time work in early retirement. It keeps you motivated, engaged, and it makes you money while hopefully having fun too.
So true. Thanks for your comment:)
Great information! I still work 12-15 hours per week working from home. Best of both worlds.
Working 12-15 hours a week from home sounds ideal. Thanks for your comment:)
I checked the description. $3500 is like $1 more. (Than $3499?) Please give us more gems like this
Thanks for comment.
