I can see why people are underwhelmed by Jay's story, I'm willing to cut it some slack. I'm glad they're finally exploring how Jay feels about being adopted. Him feeling devastated about him losing his powers, because he lost his only connection with his biological mother is heartbreaking. Even if he has a family in the ninja and Ed and Edna, learning you were abandoned by a parent is life changing. I know what that's like.
@@BV1983-s8s, I mean, think about it. Your parents abandoned you, and you always wondered why. And your left with this feeling that you never found why your own flesh and blood wouldn't want you anymore. That's why I say it's bad, and you can tell that it affected Jay.
@@Artist_UnboundI think he meant why it’s underwhelming. Like, what part of exploring the fact he’s adopted a bad idea? It’s sad, sure, but overall it seems like a good idea for character exploration.
I feel like Jay should have a season where he finally finds his mother in ninjago or even a distant realm and have him make a sacrifice that would change his life and his character forever since he is the only one who hasn't done that besides kai
Jay’s story is the more casual one, but I actually love that about it. It shows you don’t need a life-threatening situation or something similar to mentally recover or to make a good story. Plus the progress with Unagami was so wholesome & personally very much worth it.
There are three things i loved about this chapter 1- Jaya. I absolutely LOVED their scenes. Super cute and somehow more mature (? idk how to explain it lol). I really really really hope they bring this dynamic to United 2- unagami returning and helping jay. I feel like prime empire didn’t really develop jay knowing it was supposed to be a jay season so its cool for them to return unagami 3- jays mom. We never really got to see jay talking bout it so it’s amazing to see it finally happen (even tho it was kinda out of nowhere). I also really hope they explore this more in United
I’m glad that we finally got a plot focusing on how Jay feels about being adopted! I’m also hoping that we will someday find out about what happened to his birth mother.
Jay's was only weak because it would have been the perfect opportunity to 1. Revisit the Keepers Island 2. cover Jay's lightning powers more, and 3. have Jay start finding small clues about his birth mom. Other than those missed opportunities I love Jay and Unagami becoming like brothers.
Honestly I liked the story, the lesson on family, the fact that Unagami was here, and jay’s feelings being adopted being explred again. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of a villain. There was an opponent on every other chapter, here there was an earthquake.
Just a theory but Maybe the key to the ninja getting there powers back is over coming emotional obstacles similar to when they unlock their true potentials in the 1st season jay excepting the family he has ben given even if they aren't related then suddenly gains he's power Coincidence I think Not!!!!!
Ok after watching I have to say that I genuinely really enjoyed how they elaborated a bit on unagami and Jay's friendship. As for the whole ordeal with his birth parents, I personally really like that they don't give much insight on it. It gives a genuine feeling of mystery and kind of forces the viewer to accept that you can't always find the answers, and sometimes they aren't needed, as shown in how Jay realizes his family is with the other ninja
I felt like the producers should’ve made a little 40 minute movie on how the ninja got their powers back. I mean they made day of the departed which showed how Cole was able to become human again so why can’t they make a film based on this information.
So we're doing the powerless thing again. I wish they could do something more original. They've done this so many times I wonder how often the Ninja do have their powers. And just for reference here's every season their powers are lost or taken. Season 2, season 3, season 4, season 5, season 9 (Lloyd only), season 11(Kai only), season 12 and finally season 15. That's like half the series.
I feel like the creators should’ve just kept that storyline with jays mom being in prime empire because as you can see Unagami is starting to feel like jays little brother and Unagami was supposed to be jays brother in season 12…also I have no problem with Lava or Greenflame Shipping but I prefer Kailor more because it’s been a long time coming but I do kinda see why everyone wants Cole and Kai to be together and as for Greenflame Kai and Lloyd are best friend but some people do ship best friends… but in my opinion I feel like a lot of people just want cole to be gay(this is how I feel) but a lot of people say it won’t happen because the show won’t be as popular in my opinion I don’t think the creators would really care about how it would lose some fans because of that…but in my opinion it would be nice for Cole to be gay and he should probably date griffin turner since he is around his age and plus the ninja are taken (kinda)
My thought on Jay’s story is that it is a good story I don’t like how Jay is so blue because he is powerless but I would give it a 7/10 not bad but not that good
Best couples / match of ninjago (in my opinion) = kai and skailor Lloyd and harumi jay and nya Cole and Princess vania ( or seliel ) zane and P.I.X.E.L
I thought Kai's story was a lot worse. I fully understand Jay's urge to find his biological family - it's something many adopted children feel. It's fully understandable Jay would feel somewhat lost after losing his powers, and the thoughts of never finding what happened to his birth family would come back to haunt him. Kai on the other hand was very mean and cocky, and basically had a retread of his powerless arc from Season 11.
I think Kai’s story was the only one that left a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve noticed Kai gets the short end of the stick a lot but this book solidified that for me. His story just felt very boring and felt like a repeat of what he had already learned. I liked the good Kailor moments but he was just mean the whole time. I thought the book platform was perfect to give Kai a good fleshed out story, something that could fully focus on him. But in the end it felt like they just wanted to read something and move on. They focused on him not feeling strong enough but they did it wrong. They could’ve used HIS SISTER leaving as an example. Like ‘oh I don’t feel strong enough then and I feel ever weaker now. I hate this feeling. I thought this would make me feel better.’ He didn’t even apologize to Skylor after being a jerk to her😭. The whole oh how can I protect others if I don’t let anyone protect me didn’t feel like the right lesson. His story really disappointed me especially since we haven’t seen him get a lot of moments in the latest seasons. I hope they fix this in United but honestly I don’t think they will
@@jacquelinearmienta2056 Kai in the revival era (seasons 3-7) was Peak Kai to me. He became more confident, more mature, and a much better leader. He also became way less-hotheaded and relapsed after the Season 8 redesign. This story didn't do Kai's character justice and just portrayed him as a mean, arrogant person who once again didn't want to work on a team, even though much of his character development in the earlier seasons was about him learning to be a team player and not thinking about himself all the time.
@@Pixel_PedroYTthat Nadakhan the gene told Jay that he only revealed the truth about Jay’s life and didn’t change anything. The only thing he did change was the fact that he got Jay’s adopted parents to reveal the truth to him.
I love Jay & his segment in the book sounds pretty cool & nice feeling, so thats good for his character. Jay May be adopted by Edna and ed walker, but from the show they still treated him like their own. I don't know what or why his biological family ditch him and I think that they were threatened like nyas and kais were
I’m going to be honest, I don’t want this isn’t cannon. I want United to, at first, show the ninja finding there powers and then eventually show them have to fight the time twins

Even though I am a little disappointed that this one did not explore Jay's connection to his mother, this is still Jay we are talking about, and I understand why they didn't. I am possibly a little biased on how good this story is because Jay is my favorite ninja, but I have always loved stories about siblings; biological or not. And coupled with a hunt for a lost city in a mysterious jungle, this makes Jay's adventure my favorite. And I was also absolutely delighted to find that unigami was Jays partner!
