KETRON EVENT - BIG PROBLEMS!!!!

- Theres so many issues that keep appearing with the Event keyboard. From voices not playing, startup producing no sound, Grand Piano samples with horrible room noise, Styles holding notes over... it's becoming more of a pain than a joy to play. Here's the video showing what is happening.
Time to set it to one side and go back to the Genos.
This sample issue is pretty unusual. I’ve been playing my Event since March without issues other than user error! What I love is the ease of selecting sounds on the fly and the way I can customize the programs. The keyboard continues to amaze me at the capabilities and live recordings are synced. Users do need to take care to play within the tempo ranges so real audio samples remain in sync. One of the main features I like is the many custom User pages that allow styles and instrumentation to be tempo synced (user set) and they instantly lock when you switch styles. Another feature I am about to enjoy is the Stem feature. I can add drums, bass, guitar/piano and vocal background tracks and loop them and the markers allow me the switch song sections on the fly. Truely powerful.
Good morning, it happens a lot with de Ketron, sometimes it changes with the change of voice and sometimes not! It is very annoying!
My personal experience with Ketron:
1. Technical support is very cumbersome...
(That's why many stores don't even want to offer it)
I didn't believe it until I experienced it myself with the Ketron SD 90.
2. It can be used practically minimally for the PC. It froze constantly.
3. When changing chords in the left hand in many cases (for certain chord translations, it does not produce the notes and it stutters, which is very annoying.
Anyway, I like the sounds/sound and the concept of the instrument, but in practice this instrument is unfortunately not practical. I think that PC system for audio is weak, a more serious and powerful engine should be included.
I don't want to dissuade anyone from it, because maybe someone else has had a better experience, but I haven't experienced such problems with other types.
Completely agree end think the engine is under powered for what it needs to do.
@@LeighWilbraham first months of korg pa4x was full of bugs.. some bugs existed for a year or more.. korg pa5x is released more than a year and still reporting bugs..

I own and still use as my master keyboard in a very sophisticated studio my General Music WK6. It’s carrying 2 banks of 8 midi ins and outs and controlling about 24 synths and drum machines in my studio. I believe Ketron is using the same General Music everything and from time to time the General Music will do the same. It has some of the same issues Ketron has so I don’t think they were able to fix this since the 90’s.
I have had the event for 9 months and still haven’t taken it out to a gig,specially wedding functions because of these scary bugs and its a serious matter especially when you pay a big price for a keyboard
It shouldn’t have been released like this.

I did the update vers 2.0 and stil the same problems!!!It stops after some measures!!!
By the way Ketron…so many cool styles like disco,funky and we dont have a Dance Piano like M1 Piano from Korg…
It fits perfectly in the mix!
Also,in Audya,the 16th beats and 8 beats are better made…musician style!
HI Leigh, I prefer arrangers from Japanese companies.
Never any problems with my Roland E80,Tyros4 and Genos.
To be fair they are large companies. The smaller ones don’t have the man power to check things work correctly or so it seems.
Regards to the Piano, me and a colleague have also detected the Piano hiss awhile back now it sounds like Poor sampling

One thing I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned is that style parts go out of sync, for example on my Event the drums or bass sometimes are not in sync with itself especially when selecting to another style, it’s like there’s a delay. Then when you select the style again it sounds ok and all in sync. This has been really annoying me.
Yes I too have had the audio parts drifting out of sync. Have to stop and restart the style to get it back into tempo.

I had the same noise with the sd9 on different sounds including bass, they have probably the best sound on arranger segment but the software unfortunately is verry bad

and under sound bank there you have some sounds that must be loaded
if they are not, then you have some sounds that do not work quite right

Press Save and Exit (Midi Reset) to kill midi hanging notes.
I’ve done that but it keeps happening.
I second that midi reset does not work and there has been a few times where i had to power down the keyboard for it to reset 😢
Im so affraid to bring my Event to the gig!

I first had the Yamaha Tyros 2, now it is already a classic keyboard, but now I have a Korg Pa4x 76 Musikant and to be honest I misjudged the technology of this keyboard or I am just getting too old ha ha ha!
I heard that the PA 5x has now become easier to work with. But to get back to your problems, I think that just like all other manufacturers of Keyboards but also Computers, customers are used to fine-tune the software of their keyboards/computers. High-paying customers are used as test pilots for the simple reason that it is cheaper for them and they can therefore bring their products to market faster. It is and remains a money-making device, quality is no longer the first priority for most manufacturers
It has become a competition between manufacturers to see who will be the first to come up with something new.
That's my opinion of course.
I personally liked the sound and styles of the Ketron Event, but found it too expensive to purchase.
I am scanning reviews for an arranger keyboard. First candidate was Genos 2. I then moved my attention to the PA5x - The Korg seem to sound more "live" and punchy.. (?) Last thing I came across was the Ketron EVM event bundle. Looks very interesting and hyper- mobile! I just want to know: was there a fix for these problems. Please and thank you

I'm evaluating the possibility of buying Ketron Event here in Brazil but your video discouraged me. The problems persist or a keyboard update has already been released to resolve these problems.
Still the same terrible operating system
A mess basically ... WOW! why would you bother paying so much an instrument they has not been well updated in regards to software / hardware ... Petty really as some beautiful sounds and styles this Ketron Event has without a doubt! Here in Australia, Ketron is a very small market which means most properly warrantee will be a issue so stick to the brands that are more reputable and with a warrantee that honest such issue immediately ...

@@LeighWilbraham One thing for sure Leigh, there are people out there that comment for the sake of saying something stupid and have no sense of positivity! I feel this Ketron Event have been just quickly rushed out without being fully tested for months if not years to an end to make sure its a solid package to be enjoy. Yamaha on the other hand takes time to gather information, feedback and most have some of the best technicians and wealth of knowledge gandered through so many years in the business. Yamaha is Apple in that respect and that's what I love about it ...

Hi Leigh, I had the same issue with my Ketron. First thing you need to do, is save the program sample sound to your default user folder, then goto that sound save & reload it into the sampler. That fixes the problem....Do you no the preset number & name?.... regards....thank you for sharing...

@@LeighWilbraham with the Geno can you see the preset sounds/style on your computer via USB or do you have to save them first to a default folder like the Ketron
Tenho EventX módulo à 3 meses e ligo por midi ao teclado StudioLogic NumaXpiano, e tem me feito anomalias/erros como crackar/bloqueia a meio de um estilo ou mudança do mesmo e não dá para mexer em nada... O que poderei fazer? Um reset de fábrica? Está a deixar-me triste o preço que se paga para isto...
Estou avaliando a compra do event. Mas esses problemas me desanimaram. Os problemas persistem.?

Got an email from Ketron telling me that they didn’t want me to post this video and then blocked me from their users group. Now that’s what I call customer service.
@@LeighWilbraham Hi Leigh, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. It is quite disappointing really when you are trying to promote a product and outlining issues for fix that they should accept feedback and to do something about it to help other users aswell... I was considering to upgrade from SD9 to the Event, but I'm obviously not keen at the moment... until they stabilise and make the product without issue. Granted it has some great features within, but to spend all that money and to then have to deal with issues, its quite disappointing....

You may have just saved me a lot of stress and headache. Think I'll wait and buy the latest Genos keyboard instead whenever it gets released.

Leigh. You don't understand. You don't understand the Italians. 🤭 The Italians are their own kind. For Italians the credo is "important it looks good!" for design and furniture. Transferred to synth it means "important it sounds good". The functionality is ... "not so important". That's the italian way. And the sax you are playing in this video is simply gorgeous, the best sax I ever heard in a synth. And many many of the other sounds in this keyboard are also georgous, the strings, the brass, the acoustic guitars and at most the drums. The hissing noise in the first piano .... well it was sampled at a rainy day, comprende? 😏 In Italy the word "perfect" doesn't exist! Only the word bello. And all is bello. And of course the Event is bello! 😋

@@ladislavbekemgr.775 I wouldn’t say over priced as such as there’s a lot of work gone into it. It just doesn’t work all the time. Too many issues that could have been ironed out by testing

@@ladislavbekemgr.775 Same with Yamaha, overpriced, crazy 5 grand for that Genos 2, only a few can afford stuff like that nowadays, i am tired about those new keyboards, still keep my old PSR 9000 and a electric piano Yamaha and that stuff is doing well with my gigs, shame that Ketron has this ugly issues, there used to be exellent in older days. Same with Yamaha, there older stuff was much better.
My Korg PA700 used to do this too. Hold a note down and play until it was restarted. Very embarrassing when playing live. But that was totally random.
This just seems very poor. Did they rush the product?…
There’s a lot that is rushed in this.
It could be the hold pedal, It happens to my arranger with certain brands or partially incompatible pedals

@@gowithgoldstraw This is why this channel is great as it's neutral and says it the way it is ... Certainly not executable for this Ketron Even is more expensive the Genos and Pa5X ...
I bought many Ketrons and there were always problems with the software. After a lot of updates it works better. I hope it will be better when the bugs are out of the Event because i love Ketron keyboards. I always wait some years so the Ketron works oke. But now again to quick on the market.
Hi Leigh, I can get a similar effect on the Genos when I use left hand hold button, noticed when you finish a piece when using an ending.

Hi Alan. Genos does nothing like this. This is a the midi backing locking up. It’s a flaw with the software.
