To me the im catching up part always felt like it was about chanlix returning home. The song was written during a time where their home country was burning and they had to watch helplessly from far away unable to do anything and so to me the I’m catching up felt like them saying wait for me I’ll be there as soon as I can please still be there when I get back kind of feeling
That's how I felt thé song as well: it's impossible for them to catch up because they've been away for such a long time, and the impermanence of life makes people and places change constantly.
Chan said in the album intro that the catching up is more about well...passing away. Like the fauna and flora disappeared, and we're bound to disappear as well, hence the catching up line(and then lee know told him why did you make me sing this 😂 )

I feel like they also inserted the meaning of making your hometown proud. "I'm catching up" - I'm working hard. I wasn't there, but everything I do is with you in my heart. When things have happened in my hometown, I feel loss knowing it won't be the same. I am always a part of that town, and it a part of me.
I cry everytime I listen to this song. The bushfires were horrifying. So many of us were trapped and nature suffered so badly. Also, to me the most important lyrics are in felix and hyunjins verses. Im catching up is kinda like them saying i wasnt there but i will be so ill catch up
when you're away from home for a long time, you miss out on the changes that happen. the corner convenience store turns into an ice cream shop. the record store moves to the next town over and a new restaurant opens up in its original place. that building across from the grocery store got torn down and is just an empty lot. some awful wildfires destroyed so much beloved nature. and then you come home for the first time in a while, and you try to catch up on everything you missed while away, even if it's impossible to know all there is to know because you just weren't there, and the things you were homesick for are now just gone, forever. that's my interpretation of the lyrics after understanding the nuance you bring to the translation. i did originally think that the lyrics were about catching up to death, but now i think it's actually deeper than that. deep homesickness, and coming to terms with your own home changing without you knowing, or possibly even noticing, until you can't get back what's been changed. a sort of nostalgic wish that this part of your life should have stayed the same as it was in your memories. it's about growing up, or just growing. quite complicated to try to explain, i'm finding lol thanks for starting conversation about it! thanks for recording and sharing your videos, i really enjoy watching them and hearing both of your analysis and thoughts on music!
FNF video is crazy to me. They filmed this in my city Melbourne (Australia) while they were here for 3 days in February, 2 of those days they had concerts. It was 39 degrees Celsius (104F). Stays were everywhere, idk how they filmed without anyone seeing them. Idk how they filmed in this heat especially in so much clothing AND without looking sweaty. Two people in line to buy light sticks collapsed due to the heat. Since this video came out many Stays have posed in the same spots the boys were standing ❤ I don’t vibe with this song so much but hey, still special!

It also makes me very emotional and is a song I personally cannot skip and have to replay immediately every time it comes on! Some important insight I would love for you guys to know before going into it is that the things said in the song are basically things that Stay have always said to SKZ, and so they wanted to return it by saying the same things and returning the love back to Stay! Well, since this was written in response to wildfires/natural disaster, part of the "I'm catching up" probably refers to the fauna and flora catching up, recovering the burned ground. I remember years ago walking around an area that had been burned in a wildfire the year before, and it was astonishing to see the contrast of the black and ash-grey burnt wastes with the creeping green of the returning plants. It was marvelous seeing how persistent life is, how it recovers and starts to regain all it lost. If this was written in 2019, it might also be referring a bit to the loss of their 9th member, who left in October of that year, and that felt like a disaster for them at the time, they've talked just a bit about what a dark time that was. So this idea of how it seems impossible but yet you can run and catch up and return to a full life, to me it fits with the title. Because these guys are artists and real art always has multiple layers and readings and resonances, I'm sure that this is only a small part of the meaning of the song, but for me it was very much in the front of what I heard and felt from it.
This song is the first Stray Kids song to make me cry! Its so beautiful. I heard someone drawing on the loss of nature with construction and city life etc so maybe the catching up even if impossible theme could be getting back the beauty of what has been lost as well as the catching up to death idea. .. ? Maybe 😅

When you've been away from something/someone you love for a while and you miss them/it, all you want is to just run to them/it, but when you finally see them/it, a lot might have changed, and there's that sense of loss when it's not like it was before, and you're maybe struggling to keep up. or stuggling to reconsile what you once knew with how things have turned out, and that it might never be the same

On one hand, it could mean how wildfires/bushfires spread cause the fire catches up to the flora and fauna. 2. On the other hand, it could mean the animals that are lagging behind are trying to catch up with their herd. The second one makes sense to me cause I remember those graphic images that went viral of how kangaroos and koalas were burnt alive during the Australian bushfires. So "catching up" could mean literally catching up.

There is a word for loss of a hometown that is still there but has completely changed. I dont remember it, but thats the vibe I get from the others. The feeling I get from Chris and Felix is how I feel about development here in New Mexico, there isnt enough resources but they just keep building into the desert. 🙁

Interesting way of interpreting the "I'm catching up" part! So I interpreted it as the animals trying to literally catch up with their herd/group. We all have atleast seen a glimpse of those horrific and extremely graphic images that went viral during the time of the Australian bushfires where koalas and kangaroos were burnt alive. Some animals had third degree burns but were alive, others actually died on trees or on wires trying to escape the fire. So it's from the perspective of the animal trying to escape the fire. The next line which you say as something like overcoming the impossible, it could relate in the sense that the animal is hopeful that they will return to safety soon...only to be consumed by the fire later on.
