Great reaction and review to a milestone song and performance from Grace. Thanks again, Nina! This is also a great lead up to the opening scene of our documentary.😉
It is really informative to listen to a professional musician analyze your favorites. There are so many little things I miss until somebody points them out. Makes me enjoy the music even more. Also Nina is always so positive 😀😀
As talented as Nina is I love how she enjoys Grace's technique. There have been other singers reacting to Grace and I thought their opinions of her were a touch phony, just enough to gain more followers. ruclips.net/video/LwC2tjiEW2A/видео.html ruclips.net/video/iMLJHwAe6kI/видео.html
If you listen to Grace perform any one song live in different venues/situations (which I have) you quickly notice that she seldom does the same thing each time. Sometimes the differences are striking, and it make going to her concerts a real treat! I love hearing you describe Graces vocals, as I can never put into words how remarkable her control and emotional delivery is, every time! Thanks for this!!
I love that she can carry a gorgeous song just by her voice - she could sing an entire song with no instrument and sound fabulous. Her tonal quality is like an instrument itself.
"That little cry on her vocals." Nina Schofield I love this description so much. Thank you for your professional perspective and in-depth video analysis of Grace's music. I look forward to watching them all. 😉
The live is better than the studio, as usual. The one thing that really stands out is something you said and something that I’ve also said about her. It’s her expression of passion, whether real or not, that makes her different and very interesting.
"It's almost like she's going back to her roots with this song" is not only a good assessment of the musical structure and instrumentation,, it could also serve as a good interpretation of the lyrics and meaning of the song. "Stray" really seems to be a pivot point for Grace, a realignment of her priorities and goals as an artist. Good job with the reaction, catching little nuances added to the live performance.
Yes and I feel she did the same thing with Happy Songs. I'm starting to think Happy Songs is Grace telling us why her next songs might be more "dance songs" and even more poppy
I love your reaction Nina. Following your reaction I can see parts of the vocals and music I didn't before. Grace truly puts all of her soul into her songs. I hope she writes and records more music soon because quite frankly I am starting to have withdrawls.
Although the studio version is absolutely perfect, I feel more heartfelt love and expression in the live performance. It actually makes you feel what Grace is feeling as she sings the song just for you.
Stray is one of her produced songs I like as much as the live songs. However, I feel they tend to over produce her songs, thus prefer the live versions. In some cases, the produced songs don't sound like Grace, so I skip them. Great review, do more live and produced comparisons, such as with the song Clearly.
Good reaction. However...please, go back and WATCH the live version and don't just listen to it. This is one of her best performances and a big part of it is how, by the time she lets go of the mic stand, she is totally lost in the song . You seem to only about the singing and there is so much more to Grace. You miss her expressions and movements and hand gestures throughout the song. I think the most fascinating difference between the two is being able to watch Grace before a live audience apposed to watching her lip sync to a studio recorded version, (although she does do this better than most artists). And then pay attention to the very end of the song. Grace is so lost in the song that you can see her snap out of her trance and remember where she is. And lastly to her cute reaction to the applause she gets.
It may be kinda tough to judge her just by what she chooses to show us on camera, for all we know she sat back and enjoyed to these two videos for over an hour
What a great review, I just love the crap out of Grace. Ever since she sang I don't know my name. her songwriting abilities, her voice, she's just an anomaly, couldn't love her anymore. here's a cover of her doing X's and O's, before she was on AGT. but you probably seen most of these, she did so many of them..ruclips.net/video/7SbLtb3vv2s/видео.html hope you do more of Grace, thank you girl:-)
I just hear a little uncertainty in her voice sometimes when she sings in live. Idk why. Maybe, she still nervous a little bit? But tbh, the live never be 100% same as the studio recorded, because if you record a song in the studio, you can re-recording it over and over if you don't like it. But if you sing in live, you only have one chance, so yeah... but her lives are always sounds very-very similar as her studio versions, in most cases it's much better than the studio version.
The video where she sits down and takes questions from the girls in the audience she just sang to explains a lot of that (can't remember what event that was). She was shocked how close they were to her as she performed. Funny how she would go down off the stage and walk beside the partition of the audience or just reach out to touch people on her tour but I thought she was a little off because the audience was just inches away from her in that club
@@SuperPalaver To be fair to Nina, we filmed her for one day at the Lafayette Theatre for our documentary where she not only provided an interview discussing Grace’s career and music in general, but also recorded 17 different Grace song reactions. It was a very LONG day for her and considering the volume of work she did manage to accomplish, an in-depth investigation into the lyrics of the songs was just not possible.
That's a good rationalization. Maybe next time you should schedule more time. I'm sure she was tired and was to the point of just wanting to get it over. One of the hardest part of human behavior is accepting advice. Some is bad some is good. The way we digest it makes all the difference. I like your site and enjoy your work.
@@victorvining2407 thank you. It's not as much a rationalization, however, so much as it was a budget restriction. Nina is based in the UK.👍 Maybe, if you ask her nicely, she'll agree to do follow up videos that tackle the lyrics.👍
Nice reaction, very insightful. I wish you would spend a bit more time on the lyrics, though. While Grace's voice is off the charts amazing and I love your analysis of the different elements going on musically in these versions, one of her greatest strengths IMO is that she doesn't just write lyrics, she writes poetry. It's a gift on a Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, John Lennon, etc. level I believe. Insert apology here: I just read a reply from VanderVault that explained how many of these reactions you did in just one day. Sorry. As to your question about which is better, the answer is both!

Melody Cristea (18 yr old) lead singer for the family band Liliac (pronounced Lil--ee-ack) has a very unique voice that matches a few of great rock-n-roll artists . Check out original band song "Dancing in The Dark and/or a cover of Rodney James Dio "Holy Diver/ :)
Can you please react to Angelina Jordan, she just sang on AGT champions. She sang Bohemian Rhapsody. Grace and Angelina are my 2 favorite artists and I would like to hear what you think of Angelia's performance. She won the Golden Buzzer for her performance

Grace is great when recorded....she is even better live. The live version was the first time she performed it in front of an audience.
I think Grace is unique in that she sounds as good or better in a live performance than a recorded one.
i really do think GRACE is the next BIG music artist of the future, she has an amazing voice . looking forward to her full ALBUM release
Such a soulful voice for for such a young girl. I hate to predict the next big thing, but she's the next big thing.

I love hearing a musician like Nina break down a song in this way, and her reviews always add dimension to the listening experience. Great channel.

These days it's stimulating and weird music and video. Grace is pure melody, lyrics and mature voice. Her music is artistic. Why not top ranking?
I love your reactions and that would mean so much to me
Good review on the music. But, don't you think you should comment on what the song was about.
That's the thing that puts me off reviews and commentators. Much of it is just wild-ass asinine speculation. Nina isn't nearly as bad as many.
