So the limitation of not being able to bring database into existing wiki is not true anymore no? I created a test wiki and I can do it. Can also create a new database within the wiki. Am I missing anything?
I’m not a Notion expert but I understand it enough to appreciate the benefits of using the Wiki functionality to manage the entire systems databases and data. I’ve created a copy of the workspace just to play around with it but can’t help the feeling that after converting it, I might be in for a number of “unintended consequences”! I also noticed that there’s an “Undo Wiki” command available as well; can’t be sure it ‘unfurls’ the entire procedure and returns it cleanly with everything intact (!) 😅
Hi, is there any reason I wouldn't store all my databases in a page outside the wiki and then just use database views within the wiki when required? In fact in general I have been taking this approach to reduce the chance of accidental database deletion. Have I got this the wrong way around?
Thanks for the question. There are many advantages to keeping your databases in your wiki. It allows you to manage them as database items within a single, overarching database. This newer video sheds a bit more light on that concept: The 12 Golden Rules of Notion ruclips.net/video/faKOb9jNAYA/видео.html
Thanks for the sharing. I am little bit confused about the last part about creating blueprint inside the Resources. Then, you create another page called Blueprint beside Resources. What is the difference then by creating another pages that does not link to each other?
Thank you. HQ and Resources are two different Wikis that serve separate needs. If you're unfamiliar with the Bulletproof model, you'll want to explore that: notion.vip/bulletproof
Is there an easy way to move content across from the "classical" structure into a Wiki structure? Your setup suggests I would have to move datasets manually into the new databases created from duplicating the respective database blueprints. This would also mean recreating all database relationships, correct?
Hay man, thanks for the tutorial! Not sure if Notion has changed the functionality since you posted this a year ago, though it seems you can now add full-page databases to a wiki after the fact by simply creating a new full-page database from the wiki 'home'. Maybe im missing something but wanted to share and hear your thoughts.
Does Notion do dates yet? When I tried it last, you could NOT schedule a task for "Every Tuesday." And you certainly couldn't schedule tasks for "The third Tuesday of the month." You couldn't even schedule a task for the 5th of every month. For a program that is supposed to be all about organizing your life, this was an unacceptable lapse. And in spite of years of user requests, Notion hadn't even attempted to address this when last I checked. I'm wondering if they have fixed the problem. (I'll check on their home page, but the algo likes comments -- especially long ones.)
You can make any database template recurring. From the templates dropdown (the arrow within the blue `New` button), click the three dots beside any template.
For some reason I am still not understanding the last part about databases within wikis. I wondered if I would regret moving things into the wiki or not, and now I am worried I made a big mistake. 😩
Can you elaborate on what you're not understanding? Also, it's always a good practice to create duplicates of top-level (container) pages before making any major changes. That allows you to revert back to them any time.
Hi @@WilliamNutt. Why did you put the database blueprint in there? What stops one from using the wiki for everything? Eek. I've gone far down the rabbit hole the past several hours, and my brain is fried. 😜 Also, from what I can tell, it appears the wiki creates a sitemap by listing all pages in the table regardless of where you might save them. I hope I make sense. Thank you btw.
@@melfp223 The blueprint is there for any new databases you want to create. Otherwise, you'd have to duplicate an existing database that's preconfigured for another purpose. When you don't need the special capabilities of Wikis, standard databases suffice.
I was able to follow your set up and create the wiki in wiki! I was trying to get the tertiary page related back to home but I couldnt get it to work! For example, my structure is (home) > Product Resources>tertiary page. My goal would be to have the home page with "product resources" or secondary category with tertiary page in it's column- help! Ive gone down a rabbit help lol
This is true indeed. I fall in the middle of that spectrum so I actually understood about 70% of this video, partly because of my reluctance to really learn about Notion databases. Great content.
This is sooooooo helpful! Explained succinctly yet effectively! Thank you!
Great! Thank you

You're right. Notion is always getting better. 🙂 (But you do still need a "wiki blueprint" for wikis within wikis.)

Indeed, it's an exploration with many uncertainties. The more you tinker, the more you'll understand it. 💪

You can move your existing database into the page before turning it into a Wiki.
@@WilliamNutt Of course, obvious, thank you 🙏
is it possible if i set an automation that removes the verification mark when somebody adds more content to a verified document?
Interesting idea. That's not natively supported in Notion, but you could use Zapier or Make to remove verification when a page is updated.

@@WilliamNuttBut Notion allows you to create a new Full Page Database within a Wiki...
@@kewlkingIdeed-that capability was recently added, much to my delight. Many bugs remain in Wikis, though, unfortunately.
Doesnt it feel extremely clunky to navigate?
How so? It combines structured databases and freeform pages to be extra customizable

Thanks for the feedback. Notion proficiency varies immensely, so for every video, there will be users who find it too advanced or elementary.
