Gman out of nowhere 4 years later.
To actually address your comment, yeah there's exceedingly little good arcade capture footage: this video, Fighters' Choice Arcade and Smraedis' 1CC Marathon video. The only thing I could criticise is that it's excessively bright and that really detracts from the lighting. Not sure if that's due to the capture software or Smraedis turned it up on the machine or during editing or what. Funnily enough, Fighters' Choice Arcade's TC2 video is really dark.
Nevertheless, I love this video and the skill on display is out of this world. This inspired me to try and really git gud at the game.

The machine gunner at 5:09 never cease to amaze me. He is firing an assault rifle on full auto at what is typically close range, failing to score any hits on the VSSE agents yet the VSSE agents needed six seconds (you can see the hit at 5:15) to kill him. A master player will kill the same machine gunner in less than a second.

I got good, really good, but i felt the game was so unforgiving, i had to kill every redshirt so quickly or they would hit me, so i had to learn where they spawned. Then i felt the last boss was impossible, as i couldn't kill it before it killed me multiple times.
Now as a grown up... i discovered that it is possible to take cover. I must have been really good at this game if i managed to reach the last boss without dying... good god no wonder this game was so challenging...

For fellow high-scorers, here's things he missed:
In case you don't know; bonus areas in stage 1 and 3 unlocks by shooting the first boss' hat off at each encounter during the second area, against Wild Dog, you have to shoot him 45(?) times before he transitions to the last area.
Stage 1 is pretty clean, only that all boats can be triple-shot, but hard to do.
    Stage 2
    - When you get the machine gun and face the tank-like enemy. It's possible to dodge the tree and keep your combo going.
    - Missed second stage secret area. After getting on the train and clearing the hall, when you turn to face the train beside you - 3 yellow guys appear. Shooting all 3 takes you to a bonus area similar to the first stage.
You get ~2000 more than the regular route with a combo, but is a bit harder so much just be player choice. He doesn't even go for the first guy.
    - Missed the orange bonus guy in the boss fight; he's in the helicopter as the boss turns toward you to shoot.
    Stage 3
    - The helicopter falling the background of the very first area can be shot for bonus points
    - All the stage 1 regular enemy areas can be combo'ed, delay the killing blow on 'transition' enemies to keep it going.
    - Wild Dog can be shot while winding up for the punch in the duo fight (after the kick)
    - Very last part of last fight - you can duck between rockets, take a single shot, and duck again between rockets to keep combo going.
    - Not shooting Diaz at all during the last fight gives more shots, player shoots a killing blow on Diaz when he had ~5 more shots at the solar panels which were turning around for him to shoot.
Generally it's interesting to see another player shoot, he plays slow and methodical - prioritizes combo over time bonus. Generally quicker 3 shots on enemies that isn't to keep the combo going would reward a lot of time bonus points.
'Max' score is ~2'350'000 imo. Even with perfect combos, its plateaued around 2'200'000; only speed gives more points. Aggressive shooting is best for learning imo: Getting the feel for very fast areas helps a lot when you then learn to combo.

It's just a shame this game has seen no progress in terms of emulation. As of now, it only gets to Stage 1-2 and then freezes with a black screen. I've heard the System 23's a really complicated piece of hardware, so I wouldn't expect playable emulation anytime soon.
Nonetheless, the arcade version is far more colourful than the PS2 remake and the machine is a blast to play. Last time was when I was on holiday in Mallorca and I came across a Japanese cabinet. I beat it so many times.

XenonHatcher YES, the same with Crisis Zone. They are being lost to history because they can’t be emulated, and the home PS2 versions look totally different with the dark colors and dirty textures. The arcade versions are so bright and crisp! Let’s get an arcade compilation re-release on PS4 and Xbox One.

This is one of my favorite first person shooter games and my favorite of the Time Crisis games. I put a lot of tokens in this game at the arcade and I beat it a few times! Great post! I am trying to figure one thing out and if ANYONE knows the answer, please reply and let me know. Does anyone know what kind of car that Keith and Robert are driving in at the start of Stage 2? Any help would be appreciated

Yes, Time Crisis 2 and especially Crisis Zone look brighter and more colorful in the arcade version, the classic Namco 90’s look. PS2 version textures and lighting look dark and dirty :(

I finished this game both on arcade and PS2. The arcade is better because I love the low-quality graphics and animations, which makes the game cheesy. Plus the recoil on the gun is sensational. I still play the PS2 version from time to time because it's hard finding an arcade cabinet of this game. Most of the light gun games I see are TC4 which is mediocre.

I remember this game fondly, not just for being part of my childhood, but for letting me actually finish it on the arcade machine. You see, I went to Spain on holiday as a kid, and tucked away in a random corner of the hotel was a Time Crisis 2 machine, and it was broken in the best way: one euro gave you like three or four credits instead of just one. I asked my mum for about ten euros because I knew that this was the best chance I had of actually getting to see the end of the game without bankrupting myself, AND I DID AND IT WAS AWESOME!
P.S. I literally pumped my fist into the air when I heard Ernesto Diaz speak with his REAL voice instead of the shitty one they dubbed in later for some reason.

thanks youtube bring me here, it was a good old day.
you know some basic skill, but on top, there is a no-miss-bonus( you sometime see it +500, +1000 on screen )
it's very important if you want to go higher next level, more priority than head shot.
in some phase you may want to give up head shot to keep the bonus alive.
    good luck~

Gosh that really takes me back to the late 90s and I've forgotten that this game is 26 years old. Another cool aspect was the co-op mode. Of course, you would have to hope that the other random person who join was at least a bit skilled.
I never had that problem years ago. I have a twin brother and we were obssessed with this game. We used to hang around at the movie house in our teens wearing out TC2 and people would actually gather round to watch us playthrough it on one credit and no health damage.
    Laugh and grow fat! 😆
