    Haven't yet watched the whole video but understand your message.
    I just yesterday came out of the rabbit hole because it ended up costing me a lot of time trying to fix keyboard input issues and other anomolies that weren't present before I started applying tweaks to my OS.
    A fresh install saved my system and I will note that while some tweaks do "feel" better to me, it doesn't beat actually upgrading hardware. It just sucks that there is a lot of apparent input lag introduced in my AMD system that I don't know exactly what is the cause, but I know it is more noticeable on my AMD system vs my siblings Intel and Nvidia based system.

    Honestly I feel like with each new iteration of Windows and how unoptimized modern games are, just forces us into the rabbit hole to find the tweaks to mitigate issues like microstuttering, low FPS, etc. Windows continues to add more bloat with each new update. Remember when you could buy a stock copy of Windows 7 and it work perfectly fine out of the box with barely any tweaking required? Now you have to do a lot of manual configurations to make the OS tuned for optimal game performance. I wish Microsoft would just release a dedicated Windows SKU targeted just for gamers, instead of one that is supposed to be a one-size-fits all for every user. Besides the never-ending background bloat of Windows, you have so many modern games that are so unoptimized that can also be the source of performance problems where it can gaslight you into thinking the issue is on the OS or even hardware side. I find it difficult to decouple "Is it a game or OS or hardware issue?" when trying to diagnose the source of say stuttering. Unfortunately every game doesn't have an engine like Doom Eternal that runs butter smooth. Stuttering personally drives me crazy, even just one instance of it and I immediately want to know what's the cause. I do agree that Hardware > Software, however I think when it comes to tweaks, people just need to stop blindly following recommendations, do their own research and benchmark changes to confirm there are positive performance gains. You can have the best hardware in the world but be cucked by the OS or software. But then if you try tweaking the OS so you can get the most out of your hardware you can end up breaking your OS, which causes instability issues that will manifest themselves as different performance issues maybe even worse than the issue you were trying to address initially. PC Gaming in the past few years has been more frustrating than it has ever been and that feeling you were gaming on the superior platform back in the W7/XP days is largely gone for me. "PC Master Race" used to actually mean something but now it just has so many caveats.

    I recently upgraded my PC, but foolishly cheaped out on the motherboard and PSU. I got a 7800X3D to my previous RTX 3080 which are great, but not upgrading my old budget PSU was a mistake. And worse yet, the B550M Pro RS WiFi from ASRock seems to be a god damn mess. I literally had to disable the driver for my speakers just to prevent horrible stutter in many games, and sometimes my PC completely shits the bed and ever device stops functioning: Audio starts stuttering, then cuts out, WiFi stops working, keyboard mouse input eventually stops, it all does to shit and sometimes I have to hard reset. That, and just general micro stutters...
    Tried all kinds of drivers, BIOS versions, tweaks, reinstalled windows 10 AND 11 multiple times, same issues every time. I'm so lost bros...

    You are 100% right.thats why pros on tournaments play with brand new hardware and the game is always butter,but i think there is some tweaks that maybe you can change,threaddpc,keyboard/mouse data que,services off,msi on,power plan,and last i think its an personal choice lets say you have latest gpu,cpu,monitor.what is your scaling gpu or monitor?in my case i have 240hz acer monitor and rx 580,old as fuck i know but when i do monitor scaling with "Custom resolution utility" i can bet that there is diffrence,way more smoother and resolution is "real" streched.But this is only in my case with out datet hardware.Also i forgot i turn off game mode,and game bar and receive scaling both in cmd and in network advanced options.

      There are some tweaks worth doing it's when you've done more then a few that becomes a problem. In reality if you use a tweak and you know it doesn't do anything to improve input latency or performance why do it?
      Like I said before some of those tweaks work best on different version of win10. If you are on that version of win10, because you notice improvement, by all means continue to use it.

    I just recently came to the same conclusion, its mostly a waste of time above the basic stuff.
    And taking things as far as to break things in the OS is just ludicrous, over the gains that could be had over just upgrading.
    Ethernet card on the way though.

    • @eastcoasthandle

      Exactly, anything beside glaring issues that can be fixed by changing settings (turning stuff off more a less) anything above that is a waste of time.
      Excellent news on the upgrade! Update me when you got things settled in and got a few matches under your belt.

      @@eastcoasthandle The card finally arrived today, after a bunch annoyance.
      I bought the asus xg-c100c first, however that didnt connect to the internet on auto negotiation, and only worked on 100mbps, so I sent it back for them to try it out but they couldnt be ar$ed to test it for a while, it "allegedly" worked for them, but I just asked for the cash back instead.
      Got the Intel X550-T2 genuine new now which costs 60% of net monthly minimum wage where I live, but I say it is still more than worth it.
      I feel like I have an innate dodge stat like in some RPGs at 20-30% vs opponents in XDefiant and CS2, basically the clips you show aswell where some people shoot at your ghost, because youre more in sync with the server.
      I used to have lots of moments where when I got peeked it would require inhuman reaction time to contest the peeker, where I got killed in sub 100ms. This seems mostly mitigated with the card (some games just have very big peekers advantage, like CS),
      Thanks for making the video, a good external NIC is a gamechanger in game quality!

    I 100% agree with this. The only "tweaks" are the ones that I can physically access within settings menu in OS11. Do you happen to have any updated information regarding HPET? In the past, I normally go for disabling it. Wanted to know if that thing is technically viable. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    • @eastcoasthandle
      @eastcoasthandle  4 месяца назад

      If I recall correct, as it's been talked about several years ago, HPET is tied in with your motherboard bios. Some have the ability to enable/disable it from the bios. Then in windows. Others only have access to it from windows.
      But ultimately, after years of going back and forth with High Precision Event Timer and the numerous updates to cpus and their corresponding chipsets it's best to leave it alone.
      There is no definitive example, in games, that tweaking it is a benefit. It's simply another "Rabbit Hole" tweak.

    • @hitkhu
      @hitkhu 4 месяца назад

      @@eastcoasthandle Ah yes the "bios" aspect does ring a bell. I'm on Intel based Z690 mobo. I believe for ASUS (could be all Intel based for that matter?) already has HPET built in. So I recall that having both creates conflict timing? Since there's 2 running simultaenously? But you could be right imho. For all I know maybe Windows updates maybe has WinHPET sync'd properly with biosHPET

    • @eastcoasthandle
      @eastcoasthandle  4 месяца назад

      @@hitkhu Unless you have a specific issue and research is pointing to HPET then I would leave it on default and not mess with it. Disabling it has not gave any noticeable improvements in recent games that I've played.
      It's what I called "Rabbit Hole" tweaks.

      Try it to see if you notice a difference in 1% lows and min. FPS. For me I will admit is not 100% needed. Unless you notice a difference in FPS and lower latency. This tweak works best at desktop were the OS doesn't go into 3D mode. IE: games
      I've noticed that this tweak helps in apps like LatencyMon, and other desktop, windowed apps. However, I did notice a slight improvement on 1% lows as well as min FPS in testing. But it wasn't something I felt was needed. Because I'm getting over 400 FPS without it. But to someone who's only getting 100 FPS this should help.

    • @eastcoasthandle
      @eastcoasthandle  4 месяца назад

      Ok, after using it again I am noticing improvements at desktop. And min frame rates do get better on my setup. So I would keep it.
      How has it been on your setup?

      You want to use 10 GB network card from reputable companies like Intel and those who make popular network hardware. For example the Intel X550-T1 or X550-T2.
      The reason why I cannot recommend a specific one is because none are available to purchase on my end.
