Thanks Payton. I bought my single solitary one-and-only Tenkara about 3 years ago. And only now, finally, searched Shadowfire 365 reviews and videos. Agreed!. It is a fine rod that is a joy to cast, and I truly enjoy the full curve when a fish is on. Gotta sympatize with you. 12' rod made that tiny overgrown creek "entertaining" to fish. Highly enjoyed your video bob
Great video! The ShadowFire 365 was my first tenkara rod; I think it’s the perfect entry level rod. I also have the HELLbender for bass, and I recently added the Talon Mini for my bike fishing excursions. DRAGONtail all the way for me; these 3 rods serve all my fishing needs very nicely.
DRAGONtail Tenkara is a superior American company that really holds its place in the market. Even Japanese made rod enthusiasts have a couple DT rods and have mostly nice things to say. I totally agree!
I should add that Brent has been great to work with; I don’t think you could ask for better customer service than you get with DRAGONtail. Top shelf company, for sure. By the way, that first brown you caught was a beauty - had to be great fun on that rod! I caught one about that size on the Metolius River in central Oregon, also on the Shadowfire. For a while it was questionable which one of us was going to win that battle, which is as it should be.
This was my first Tenkara rod! Seriously, after seeing it recommended by Tristan (Tenkara Addict) as his recommendation for best first Tenkara rod, I pulled the trigger on it about a week ago. I didn't know about it being offered refurb'ed (should've watched your video first!), but at $99 with free shipping via Amazon, it's not a bad price new. After fishing with it twice now (neighborhood ponds in Florida) and catching almost 5 dozen rather large (hand sized) bluegill and sunfish, I have to agree with you and Tristan. That hoss of a trout you caught definitely makes me feel good about my choice! Subscribed and currently binge watching!
Thanks for the watch and the kind words! I am so happy you feel happy with your purchase! I am not as cool as Tristan buy I hope you enjoy the rest Of the content! 😇😇
@@skiddyfishing the 1st rod I ever bought about 3 months ago was the Amazon Maxcatch triple zoom, then got the ShadowFire, FoxFIRE, HELLbender, and the last one is the Mizuchi with the other sections to Mack it a bit softer (haven’t used yet). I have caught fish on almost all of them except for the HELLbender. I love that DRAGONtail is in the states and everything comes quickly. I do have replacement tips for all as well. I want to Tenkara fish in Colorado because I have seen lots of great videos… and it is not a far drive for me from NM.

I am never going to not handle fish. Im sorry if that bugs you. I will however work on wetting my hands more. Hope you can find peace in that. RUclips is going to be a nightmare if this content is sensitive. I do wish you nothing but the best.

Shadowfire was my first. Then a baby Rodzilla. I also picked up a Mizuchi which I love.
All three are amazing and I am the proud owner of both!

I am humbled by amazing supporters like you. I really mean that. Also tenkara anglers are the nicest people around 🤩
I ❤ my ShadowFIRE & my 3 other DRAGONtail rods.
I love that! What other models do you rock?

@dragonflyjoyride very nice! I bet Colorado is fun. I actually want to go to NM for some Rio Grande Cutthroat.
First was the Dragontail Tatsu (discontinued) for good reason. Then the Komodo (also discontinued) and Mutant. Then almost all the rest. 😅

You stressed the hell out of that trout keeping it out of the water for that long after a lengthy fight. Certainly not respecting the fish.
Im sorry you feel that way.
Less handling!
