On point. These kind of games have potential to get better with time, but Nexon might not let it live long enough. Oh how I wish to press a delete button on Nexon.
I played about 3 hours and got to level 20 pretty quick on one character, and I loved it! I really wish there was black desert online like character customization, though so we could have more custom characters. But on the Series X I never crashed or got disconnected. It was actually working better than starfield has been. I was surprised.
For now. Just pray it doesn't end up dying for all of the reasons mentioned in the video. Microtransactions can ruin a game, fast.. especially if they start making it pay to win. Anything can happen to a free to play game.. wish they'd just charge for it..
I played and was instantly let down From the missions, to the loot, to the abilities and skills, to the constant menu checking and itemization updates…generic non existent story line. I don’t see this game doing good at all for the bigger audience. If I want to play a looter shooter, I’m probably picking borderlands or outsiders or destiny over this every time. Nothing new Nothing special. Stop being simps men. This game is not good
@@thesmitty467 Sounds like you need a general break from this genre of game. Just said Outriders was better than this and that game was utter trash and then proceeded to call us Simps. Dude, no. Walk onto the next game we dont need you here.
@@TheChaosTheory outriders is better in every way compared to this game Animations Graphics Loot Skills Abilities Stats Customization Gear Loot Missions Story You just like mediocre things like only fans women 🤷♂️
Agreed 100% I will say after playing the initial playtest extensively, the devs actually did implement a good amount of improvements based on the feedback we provided. However, we have not seen any of what the monetization actually looks like up to this point, and that is going to make or break the experience for a vast majority of players.
Yep, I have my fingers crossed and am not only touching wood, but eating a small tree every day in hope to make up for anyone saying "it might work out".
@@geoffreyvoss3001 Uh...we are aware of that. The question is and always has been, what type of monetization model will they use? There are many types of models that are used on different types of F2P games. Some more predatory than others, on top of this game being developed by Nexon. That's why we are having this conversation to begin with.
As someone who played the first CBT I can honestly say, I've been waiting for the next time I can play. Despite some performance issues, the game felt really good to me. Having played Borderlands, Destiny, Warframe etc. It was really well made for not knowing anything about it.
Writing this on the 24th of September, before the last day. As a player who is fairly new to the looter/shooter genre. The past few days reaching level 40 during the beta it was pretty fun. I understand the hype around it although all the items and upgrades start to get very confusing and at a certain point I just turn the game off. I feel like I am being held back, and now understanding that almost all the progress I made will be wiped once the game officially releases which now knowing this I only really log on for the daily mail. All the free easy to get items you'll receive in the "MAIL" I know grinding for these things will be a pain in the ass. For those who played during beta will understand. I already feel burnt out. IMO the beta should have really been at least 3-4 days to continue the hype. I was grinding for Bunny and that alone took hours to get. I can only imagine what it will be on full release. If I would rate it at its current state I will give it a 6/10. From what the video explained I fully expect the game to wind down. (TL;DR: This game needs to maintain the hype train or it will crash and burn-out)
Eh. Destiny only builds hype once a year and it’s still around. Maybe the overload of content for a short period is what kept it interesting, but I was having fun WHILE leveling, which was a refreshing change of pace. Games like destiny don’t get fun until you’re endgame and your leveling is done.
@@JayTheTruth the level up process was nice. I'm sure the devs turned on EASY mode for the beta. No way leveling up to 40 with one character in a span of 3 days will be possible unless you never sleep when the game fully releases. Bungie is well established if they have a low player count I feel Sony needs to pour money in its content just to remain afloat. Nexon can just shut it down
@@WeirderComaOnTwitch you’re probably right. Honestly I don’t know what I want from the game, i just want it to succeed. Hopefully the devs get it right.
@@JayTheTruth yea I agree apparently the TFD is taking different aspects of other games into its own. Kinda like a 3-1 mens shampoo bottle. Personally the whales will support the game. I tend to take advantage of the "Free" aspect of a Free To Play game. I know they won't cater to me, so I'll just put a few hours in the game and play something different and come back every so often to rinse and repeat.
I play Warframe and Destiny 2 a lot, sunk a ton of money and hours that I'm not proud to admit. I'm interested in trying out the First Descendant, but like you said if it doesn't do much to differentiate itself from the competition-namely Warframe and Destiny-then I don't see much of a bright future. I hope it doesn't go down the route of having egregious monetization or lack of meaningful content once you've invested the time and/or money.
Been in the beta the past week, and have put in a good... 25 hours over the course of it. As it is right now, it's been good. It runs nice, looks great, animations are good, and outside of some minor gripes in terms of functionality, I'd say it's in good shape. I can already see where the "Nexon grade" paywalls will be placed though, and 'that' is the biggest worry I have. Nexon isn't exactly loved, and for good reason. We'll see how things unfold, but, as far as the beta itself is, I have liked it. Not gonna crap on the game because of what it "might" turn into. If they do this right (which, I have my doubt they will, because the suits ruin everything), it could turn out to be quite a popular game, I would imagine.
this video felt like a professional high grade review not a 70sub channel at all. you deserve more subs, i agree with all of your points that you made :) i hope this game can be a competitor to destiny and warframe
Thank you for all this information! I’m also, a sucker for amazing graphics and think the same for the character design! However I have very mixed feelings from the beta I’ve played and with all the great information you’ve provided. I have determined they’re way too many red flags and I’ll wait to invest my time and possibly money a while after the official release! if the game survives and there aren’t as many red flags for me! Thanks again and everyone stay safe and take care!
My concerns are going to be the monetization. If I can't play this with the same degree of free as warframe, I'll keep my attention there. Between that and Destiny 2, the grinds are real.
participated in the first closed beta way back - seems they reworked a lot of stuff since then. if the gameplay loop is fun - im sure most people will be fine with the grind and just stay F2P players except maybe cosmetics and exp boosters or something. On 2nd place after gameplay - im looking forward to see the actual "release state" of the in-game shop - thats gonna be a huge factor for me.
The first beta was so barebones and I hate every minute of it. This Crossplay OB are slightly better, I still hate the do this and that bs though But this is Nexon we’re talking about. They want games like Destiny and Warframe and to an extend, The Division but Nexon’s track record on not keeping live service games long term isn’t a new thing we heard.
If this game flops I'll be very upset, this is the first time I've even heard of it. As an avid Destiny and warframe player, I love it. So far I've been enjoying it and felt myself wanting to hop back onto it already while I was playing warframe.
Anyone who isn't pessimistic about the development this game is definitely a super casual to the genre or has no clue about Nexon and their track record. Your vid is a perfect summary to anyone who has concerns about this game; whether or not they are new to looter shooters or veterans of the genre that need confirmation or reassurance about what to expect from this game. I hope this game becomes a staple in the looter shooter genre because it has everything I like from all the other games it takes inspo from.
It's Nexon. That official statement was worded carefully to not appear any worse than other looter shooters without having to get into details about their own monetization specifically, and I see right through it. I've played 2 Nexon games in the past. One is Combat Arms, a PvP Arena FPS that locked all the best performing guns exclusively behind premium currency purchases. Shit like that is the LITERAL (and honestly the original) definition of Pay to Win. Paying for an EXCLUSIVE power advantage. The Second Nexon game I played was Dragon Nest which has the typical "honing/enhancing system" that most Korean MMO-like games have. If you don't know about honing systems, it's basically a system where you can enhance your sword from base long sword, to long sword +1, to long sword +2, then +3, all the way up to +14, +20, and so on. But enhancing requires materials which are easy at first to farm for the first few enhancement levels, but progressively require more, then later require different rarer materials, the require more of those rare mats for the next level, then even rarer materials then that later on. Oh but wait...the higher in enhancement you go, the greater chance the upgrade will fail and consume all those materials in the process (and even destroy the weapon in Dragon Nest at least). Eventually you will get to a wall that most players get stuck at (somewhere around +11 lets say) Where you need 7 abyssal crystals or some shit, in order to get it to +12, but the crystals are a 20% drop from some hardcore dungeon boss, and the chance of the upgrade failing from +11 to +12 is a 15% chance. So people just get stuck there. And that's just the long sword. You have to go through that grind with EVERY individual piece of gear on your character or else you won't meet the gear power requirement for the next tier of content. That's not even including the extra grind if you are playing different classes with their very own gear. But don't worry, I'm sure there are some boosters and micro transactions that will make that leveling process a bit easier. It's a Korean MMO-like game, and Nexon is behind it after all.
Anthem had the potential to be the best game in the genre, but lacked a proper end game progression system, which is why it failed. Outriders is a similar issue, with added stability issues when playing online. So long as this game has a proper end game like any looter shooter should, runs well, and doesn’t have predatory micro transaction(which frankly im not holding my breath on given the publishers track record) then I have no doubt it will have staying power. Im just not overly optimistic it will have these things.
I wouldn't mind throwing money at a game if the mechanics were deep, skill based, you die it's you fault cause you got the tools kind of thing. A game with nuanced systems like Xrd that keeps rewarding skill would command staying power with paid content as a cherry on top. Right now, after trying to solo a protect the Maguffin mission I was overwhelmed by bullet sponge enemies and completed it by luck on my last life. That being said, the shooting felt fun and robust and the graphics are thirst worthy. Will stick around for a while, don't know if I will throw money though.
Random recommended video, probably cause i was looking for more First Descendent stuff. Share the same views with you, I want more looter shooters (third person ones at that) in the field to try. Just tried SYNCED but already see their pve aspect as shallow and unnecessarily grindy. I'm hoping for more from First Descendent and hope they stamp out most of the graphic/gameplay bugs and glitches I encountered from one of their earlier closed beta sessions. Honestly hoping that it doesn't follow warframe's monetization or atleast find a better form of it i guess (not use timed crafts = pay for time shortening or use frames/characters tedious to grind for = buy them outright via money).
Warframe has one of the most fair monetisation on the market to be honest. Sure it has time stamp applied to it but it doesn't hurt it, maybe at the beginning when you have one frame but then like you have do much things I feel personally it's alright. Already the time it takes to make characters is shorter than Warframe anyway.
@@natecoet3291 I agree... warframe's monetization is one of the better ones I've seen and you get a lot for what you pay for. I don't care for the timed crafting either, but it's not game breaking to me by any means.
Tbh after playing the beta today I'm struggling to see what this game can do that Remnant 2 can't. To be fair though, some of the bosses look insane, and the populated social hub is a nice addition.
@@jordanreavis8163 yeah!, identical to D2 and Warframe genre. Remnant 2 is a 3rd person action, rouge like style shooter! Dark Souls with guns 😂 buddy. .Also The Descendants will be “Live Service” Free to Play Just like Destiny 2, Division 2, and Warframe. So that is One thing that it can do and Remnant can’t, or shall I say won’t.
Got about 10 hours in the game now and I’ve unlocked 3 descendants. I love how the game is going so far and it feels really fun to run around destroying things quickly
man i 100% agree with everything you said, and i actually said the same things to one of my friends your concerns are spot on, i played every single looter shooter out there and ive never payed a single dim in them, because i like to grind games and i dont have the urge to achieve something or some crazy kind of power so fast so for me its not an issue, monitization becomes and issue for me is when grinding a game because soooooooooo long, and its so difficult to get legendry gear also its an issue like in destiny where you literally have to pay to access some dungeons.
I completely agree with your perspective and very skeptical of this games future concerning how horrible the monetization practices will be and a tedious “free grind” vs paying for convenience. After playing for 6+ hours in the beta, I do have faith they can pull this off. Great video sir 👌🏾
Well you pay to not play the game... looter shooters are about the grind once that is gone there really isn't anything to do. Warframe proofs it. Once you buy everything what else is there to do once ypu can't grins for anything. The grind is the game. I love grindy games
@@CCwilk993 tried it today and i also liked what i saw. Played destiny and sunk months into warframe. This looks like it has good stuf from.both. but to early to say. Well see ya ingame sometimes
Good video. I hope it won't go the same road as some of the titles from Nexon mentioned here. I only started playing from yesterday, and it's really fun.
As someone who played the alpha, it’s just worse Warframe. To clarify, it’s Warframe gameplay (Warframes, general play, craft times) it’s loot system is also basically destiny.
Nice video. I mean there 's no such thing as "Free" in this world. So Free to play game they need to make some kind of money in order for their Devs to continue to support the game and add more contents. So if the game turned out "bad", you can just simply stopped playing, it's Free to play in the beginning so there's nothing to lose besides the time you spend in the game. But if you don't spend your time to play the game, then how do you know if it's good or bad right? just my 2cents
They are exactly like a war frame exactly each character is a class. Each war frame is a class you acquire each character by either buying the parts in the store or or or I presumably you can buy the completed character right I haven’t really looked that closely, but I did notice that somebody saying that you could oh I get the parts from the store if you wanted to craft art class a character if you have to craft a character, then they’re really just a class that you’re you’re crafting just like a war frame you can either buy the war frame or you can buy that the blueprint and find the parts and craft it. They are exactly the same you don exoskeleton or remotely control depending on your viewpoint of war frame an exoskeleton that has certain skills you want different skills you change or frames do you want different skills in this game? You change classes characters really I mean your characters are just a Class, the starter three are a crowd control class and heavy damage class and a support defensive class.
Underrated channel fr subbed but I definitely agree with everything you said the game does look good but just hoping they don’t just force us to pay to have a stronger character or even weapon and hearing the past of the company with there games is scary if the game isn’t received well
Really hoping its just cosmetics but we'll have to wait and see what other stuff they work in. Thank your subbing as well, I appreciate it, welcome to the channel
I have seen quite a bit of polarized reviews of both sides regarding this game on here, reddit and steam etc. There are people praising this game for being good which it is (for the time being). There are also people that have pointed out many of its current and future potential shortcomings when compared to games like Warframe and Destiny of which the Developers of First Descendant obviously took a lot of inspirations from. From my standpoint, this game is a refreshing take from veterans of both WF and Destiny but also at the same time feels underwhelming and needlessly grindy for negligible gains (talking about the modules) which can get really boring after 100 hours at most.
This game looks good graphically but I share the same concern how much content and how long will it last because warframe has literally dominanted the looter shooter genere since 2014
I wouldn’t include Outriders in these comparisons as it’s not a live service and wasn’t designed in a way to ensure replayability even if it hadn’t had a launch plagued with bugs. It’s closer to Remnant 2, which was well received but which just a few months after release has all but disappeared from conversation.
I will give this game another shot AFTER release, I want to know if this even has attention and longevity. Also the artstyle is an amalgam of 99% of Artstation
I’m somewhat confused with the number of players in a session, and on the description in the PlayStation store, both the PS4 and a PS five beta versions, say 30 online players in the shared spaces, you definitely have more than four players, but once you select and edition and download it it says for online players, so I am a little confused are the instances there they’re obviously not match made co-op because yeah it’s a public instance and people seem to drop in and out at well. You can leave at any time and Nas so are the public instances limited to four people and if so what why is it saying 30 online players has anybody seen more than four in Kingston
It’s a pretty decent game, I’m personally glad it’s free to play otherwise I think it would of been DOA, it’s got a Warframe/Anthem vibe about it, their are a lot of glearing issues I’ve run into since playing it, ammo economy is atrocious when u end up having to play the missions solo you quickly notice how bullet sponges the mobs are an how rare ammo starts to become, heavy weapons have terrible dmg, but their ammo is practically none existent I cleared 2 areas tonight so 6 missions an I had 5 heavy ammo bullets an those are the 5 I logged in with. Some of the mobs in later missions spawn this Aoe that literally melts your health I’m talking 0-100 dead it becomes so frustrating when u have timers on capturing zones when mobs are continually spawning these orbs all over the area forcing you to stay an fail missions.
Only discovered your video with my love for both warframe and my excitement for this game. I think it could benefit with a similar model to warframe. I completely agree with paying for conveniences or shortcuts, but not power. Similar to warframe slots or weapon slots, or paying to cut out grind time or even out right buying character. I assume they're definitely going to have outfits, specifically waifu outfits. It makes me cringe but it sells and as long as it allows it to survive I'll live with it.
Warframe's monetization is one of the better ones, especially since it's so easy to farm plat just by playing. As for the waifu outfits, I 100% agree that we'll end up seeing some in the future just from the way they're promoting the game with Bunny in a bunch of their ads.
The 2 things to get right...are SHOOTING AND LOOTING aside from this if they can't get their 2 foundational things right its dead. I don't understand how so many loot games, not just looter shooters have trouble making interesting loot.
I've been watching some videos about TFD to prepare for this game and stumbled on your video. I wholeheartedly agree with all of your points. This game has potential, but there are also some concerns surrounding its publisher and the general direction of the game. Another thing that bugs me is the character design. Most of the Descendants and the NPCs look like lingerie supermodels in futuristic armors/outfits, which is a very common thing for Korean games. As someone who have played a fair share of Korean MMOs this made TFD looks more generic than it should be for me.
good review. I also think that they heavily need to work on the movement. I dont know if its just me, but most of the times i just see myself getting clipped on small rock, or bounce off on enemies or allies which awkwardly stops my movement, makes me get hit. I also miss things like wallrunning, sliding, just something to constantly keep the movement up in some way. And the Grappling hook feels a bit awkward to use.
I am a fan of looter shooter, played Borderland, the division, Anthem and still playing Warframe and Destiny, the game looks really good and familiar as of the like of Warframe specifically, and I like that my only concern is Nexon, but we'll see how it goes, if they started the BS another one bites the dust.
Game looks good. Besides Rocketpower, I usually hate the online free to play stuff, but I’m going to give this a try. Never played destiny, warframe, anthem or even fortnite lol I suck at warzone. Still, I’ll download it.
Nonetheless I’m still excited to try a free beta and also it’s a F2P game, seamless and simple. I’m also looking for more TFD videos and yours came up on my recommended, good critical analysis.
These are all really good points. All I know is that I’ve been playing it on the open beta, and it's been pretty fun. Doesn't mean your points wont come into play at some point, but I'm gonna have as much fun with it as possible until the ship starts to either sail or sink
The game is fun, it’s like a faster paced Warframe not movement wise but crafting speeds wise Descendants take 12 hours to complete compared to Warframes 3 days and gun crafting is only 4 hours to warframes 12-24 hours, and the main problem for me is the open world is empty unless you’re doing a mission
Beta was trash.... legit EVERY SINGLE mission, mode, everything as follows 1. Go to location 2. kill waves of enemies Rinse repeat forever.. The AI is SUPER garbage... legit run in straight lines on pre-determined pathing...... if you play with others AI will legit walk RIGHT BY YOU, ignoring you entirely because they are locked on to a single player... game needs a dramatic overhaul its dead on release
Great assessment . I completely agree. The game is pretty good but I am EXTREMELY skeptical about it being published by nexon. I guess time will tell if they fuck it all up. At the very least, I'm greatful for the opportunity to play around in unreal 5. The game is running incredibly smooth for me.
I remember the good time with Vindictus.... damn nexus, i hope First Descendant doesnt go that way or shut down because its seems it could be a very cool game.
"The paid products...can be earned through gameplay." ...along with a grind painful enough to get you to swipe instead. It's inherent to this kind of F2P model that they have to include "pain points" to make the game so unfun that you pay to overcome it. Nexon killed this before it was even released.
On the 3rd person looter shooter, let's not forget there was also Defiance and the reboot of Defiance 2050. What killed this one was lack of content, a problem Nexon has. Take Vindictus, new content there, means new character class. And as far as Nexon goes, this seems to apply to all of them, lack of content, plus heavy monetization is their downfall. But, yes, it being Nexon, which is huge red flag by itself. This also comes with other red flags, such as unaddressed bugs, unstable servers, poorly balanced characters, bad story, lots of grind, and heavy monetization. One big thing I see right now that's going to hurt it. Lack of character customization. You get presets that you change armor and it's colors. However, you can't create your own customized version of said character, like you can in Vindictus.
The biggest worry is Nexon. The name strikes anxiety and fear into hearts of gamers. There are so many ways they can fuck this up. The Korean treadmill is very real and you should be afraid of it. There is a single mechanic that can define whether this game is a piece of shit, or a warframe alternative, and that is trading. If premium items and currencies can be earned through player trading with a reasonable amount of effort, then this game will be a true F2P friendly experience, if not, then avoidance is a very viable option.
The game looks very good but there is no way it can keep up with Warframe and destiny in termes of frequent updates because those games use their own in house engines.
Anthem had so much potential. I followed that games development for 4 years and pre ordered special edition only for it to fall apart so hard. I wish they could revive it and redo it like multiversus
i share the same concern with F2P games nowadays. it is so disappointing that its listed as 'free' but it ends up being P2W and just a grifty cash grab
@@ADesertVoice Nice observation, because being worried that a free to play game will turn into a glorified cash shop obviously means that developers can't charge for their product. 😉 No one is saying they can't monetize their games, especially if they're free to play. The problem is that most of these games put the cash shop front and center, and they'll prioritize milking their players with anti-consumer practices instead of bettering their core game. Thanks for the comment though
@@AdoinkAdoink I'm not oblivious to the fact that companies like these put cash shops, some of them very predatory like Diablo Immortal, front and center. I've been playing games for over 30+ years and 1/2 of that have been in mmorpgs. I was just responding to naive or trolls that think developers make games for free for people. These tend to be ignorant kids who don't know how the world works or self entitled brats who think the game industry revolve around them.
@@ADesertVoice yes, markets should revolve around the consumer(?). idk where you get this idea that the devs are the ones that are making the greedy decisions. these current models that are trying to grip as much money as possible are being pushed by executives to please the stockholders, not the consumers. devs want nothing more than to make games for their fans, not make their fans feel like piggy banks.
I'm not sure Outriders is a fair example. Their developer made it clear from the beginning that it was a looter shooter but it *was not* a live service game. Had they been attempting live service goals for the game, then yes, it would have been a failure. But given what it was trying to do, I'd call it a success.
Absolutely worried about it being Nexon, but hey, it's free. If I play for 10-20 hours and hit an insane grind/paywall, I can stop. I think a lot of people unfortunately approach games like these with a mindset of playing it for literally thousands of hours and that's just unhealthy regardless of what game we're talking about. You can enjoy yourself without making a game a full-time job. I'd certainly prefer if it ends up being a Warframe caliber f2p experience, but if it goes south then there's plenty of other things to do.
Dude, it may look good, but it actually doesn't bc if you set high graphics, it lags even on a decent pc. I have 2070 and i7 intel 10th gen as I remember. 16 Gg ram and ssd but it looks bad on high settings
I am personally I’ve only ever seen one other player while to rally but one at a time somebody joined me and help me with my mission on one and somebody was doing a mission on another and I helped them two different players two different times
as a gacha player the word NEXON is not good for us. it is like one of the seven deadly sins (like netmarble). I'm going to try it but being very careful with spending
you cant compare it to anthem cause it had dissapointing fighting we expected much more cause we were shown much more but we got literally nothing in anthem
There are some improvements that can be done, game is well made but lacks content maybe its just beta but I want more like 8 or 16 player boss battle or similar to raid
From what I saw of both the closed beta and the current beta, it looks like we should be looking at Warframe's model for the monetization, being that everything has a crafting time, and that crafting time can be skipped with a currency. as well as rare materials that you need to craft. but given that it is Nexon, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they made the grind worse just to push you into the cash shop. and that is if we're lucky and Nexon had a big, BIG introspection session and decided they wanted this game to succeed so are trying to be different this time. which...come on, we'll see Halo on Playstation and Mario, Pokemon and Zelda on Steam before THAT happens
When talking about Nexon, which 100% is valid, you do have to mention this is Nexon Korea. Over regular Nexon. Which has a slightly better track, but it still a worry. For the pay, they have talked about more about their pay being closer to warframe with no paid dlc & they did confirm free battle pass months ago. Also from the CBT the grind for free was not terirble at all. I got multiple classes in the weekend alone during last test. These are some valid worries, but it also doesnt sound like youve played and of the game yet from closed testing and havent kept up with the community either for updates
Thanks for the insight, I havent played the previous Betas, though I did try to be as informed as possible for the video. I appreciate some of the clarifications. I've heard a lot of mixed feelings so far from people who have played and those who haven't and it seems like a mixed bag so far. Either way I'm very excited and hope the game does well, it looks like it'll be fun
@AdoinkAdoink there are 100% mixed feelings, but in the community it is more about fixes they needed to do game wise. Missions previously were a bit dull & repetitive. World layout was boring & mission based. Guns felt good to shoot, but lack of real variety within the class. These have been address as far as guns changed entirely, they re did the missions to be zone based, re structured missions & maps to be more diverse as well. Micro transactions ate still to be seen how "fair" they really feel given the grind, and they could have changed the grind for new characters since last year. A big issue was more the actual leveling of characters than getting them. Leveling was slllloowwww even with the x2 exp weekend for the previous beta so hopefully thats been addressed in this week's beta. (dev notes on their sites have all this information id recommend checking it out if you're interested! ) Still reccomend checking it out as despite issues previously I've been waiting to play even more since last year because it was just so fun. Do note that until slightly after launch there won't be in world raids, but the colossus battles will be there just as they have been since last year (new one coming this beta too)
Could not play much. My game was using 15 gb of ram memory. I have a ryzen 5 4500 and an rtx 4060, but the 16 gb ram memory always spills everywhere. I even reinstalled the game and nothing changed. Hope in the launch it does not use this much or i will to get more than 16 gb of ram.😢
I think they’re actually called modules I guess I don’t. I know you have modules sub modules, but this game is exactly like war frame, and every respect every system your guns level so if you’ve leveled up the starter assault rifle and you switch to a different type of assault rifle you have to level it again just like in war frame, your guns have mods that change its performance just like war frame your descendent has mods that change its performance just like war frame, your descendent has reactor similar in function to the reactors in war frame you have different model types that that can be plugged into slots. I haven’t figured that part out yet, but I think there are slots for mod types just like war frame everything about the game copies the systems the cash app the class is all just like war frame, you put on a character class you choose a character or you put on a war frame same deal you have a skill set that’s immutable you can modify how it performs but you cannot change the skills just like war frame everything about it is war frame like it’s like they looked at war frame, dead condensed. It boiled it down and put it all together in a proper system all at once, instead of tacking on, and adding on over the years, like war, frame or frame is gotten fairly good but it needs a war frame to write it needs. Everything boiled down a new new player experience that lays out all the things War frame is only the really understandable the people who played war frame for a long time and in many ways the first to send it does it better for instants you can click a button to apply modules I assume that the ones that that it’s trying to apply or maybe a good starter build for the class you’re on I’m playing Lepic, so I’m assuming the ones at selects are good starter for electric And you can put whatever you want but if you reply it again, it will take those out and put it in the ones you have that match the slots and I haven’t figured out how to change that other than just manually change it but I mean how to change it so you have a load out I don’t. I haven’t played long enough about five hours, but everything about the game screens war frame, even the co-op mission structure I mean your jump to Kingston you find out totem or whatever you call him when you start a mission if you want to repeat that mission you repeat it over and over again if you want I guess I don’t know how many times you can do it but seems like everything you do is once done it’s repeatable Which again is much like war frame when you go back to earth you can start on any planet and just redo all the missions either solo or public just like war frame and contractor some RUclipsrs very much not like destiny you have no control there’s no such thing as public or private missions. If you’re doing a strike you’re either with your fire team or you get match made into one when you go down to a planet you’re either with your fire team and even if you are, you will join him like 13 other people I think it’s 16 on a server so you will join 13 other people and you have no control over it. You can’t choose except what planet you go toO
The grind is going to be somewhat unbearable, but I think at most if they dont fuck it up, it'll be as bad as warframe. Looking at the builds that they drop for the tutorial, it plays eerily similar to warframe's drops. What I am excited for however is the possibility of gameplay features like gambits and pvp if they decide to add them at least. It might be bad, but i would at least love to see how they iterate on it. It might be good?
Why I'm Worried About The First Descendant: Nexon. That all u got to say 🤣🤣. Also a recent trend I've notice is that some games will implement the egregious MTX stuff like 3-4 months after release. After garnering some good publicity and exposure from the initial launch hype. 3-4 months is enough time for the game to be discuss in quarterly invertor reports, also funny enough 3-4 months the rough amount of time it takes for public outrage to subdue. Anyways I hope the best for the team behind TFD, cause they shown some amazing progress compared to last beta. Wether its good or bad it will scratch my looter shooter itch for however many hours I get out of it.
Yea for sure, they'll wait for all the praise or rage and then start cranking up the mtx stuff when people care less. Unfortunate practice of the industry now. Really hoping the game is good though, more competition in the looter shooter space is a good thing IMO
Wow boy you did your homeworks. With this perspectic i agree with you. Probably the game will lack in some terms. And for sure there will be bad monetazation models. Using the best graphics out there cost a price. I hope it dont lack of content and dosnt feel as pointless as warframe.
Open world needs work, it's very bland and empty, nothing going on in them until you activate an objective, the missions are just kill or defend. The Colossus are cool and combats decent, each character feels different and builds are fun. Up to them to flesh out those areas with random mini bosses and world bosses that spawn every so many hours that needs a lot of people to kill. Like it's a jacked up Colossus advancing to a friendly base and we have to kill it fast destroying weak points fending off enemies, or just an op boss we fight, or both added! Even better, more variety! Also need more variety of objectives. Maybe have a form of gathering so we can harvest the metals/stones. Have reputation vendors for eg. Medical company as a faction (devs can name them appropriately to lore) and we can donate herbs found in open world that are rare and we level the faction up. Could have a military focused vendor which we can donate Colossus parts, a bounty vendor to hunt specific elites, all which we can donate and receive various rewards. Also need longer style coop missions, like destiny strikes but could be procedurally generated so it doesn't feel the same, or just have a decent repertoire of coop missions/expeditions so we don't see the same level too offen. Overall for the beta I thought it was fun, but definitely want them to not half ass it
I don't mind battle passes in games honestly, gives me something else to level and get rewards for. Destiny is bad though upping the pass price to 1200 and like 5 exotic emotes has the same value as a full AAA game that's new like 50-60 quid/dollars etc nahhh that ain't it... They have no value. See, I don't mind cosmetics and what not IF they are reasonably priced. Instead of 14.99 or 9.99 for a skin, make it 2.99 or 3.99. Absolutely no reason digital cosmetics to ever be over 4.99, even that's expensive for what it is. I guarantee they'd sell more if cheaper
Best approach - no expectations and no hype to get less disappointment

On point. These kind of games have potential to get better with time, but Nexon might not let it live long enough. Oh how I wish to press a delete button on Nexon.
Not just nexon, more like the entire AAA gaming climate and all the assholes who caused it.
Someone needs to tell Nexon that you will literally make more money if you charge less and keep people wanting to play.
Implementing a Battlepass with SKINS only and a way of buying skins for chars, Weapons etc.. Always would be much better!!!
10000%
They clearly took a lot of inspiration from warframe so I really don't understand why they refuse to copy warframe for loot and monetization
Played 8 hours today and loved every minute of it. They killed it here.
I played and was instantly let down
From the missions, to the loot, to the abilities and skills, to the constant menu checking and itemization updates…generic non existent story line.
I don’t see this game doing good at all for the bigger audience.
If I want to play a looter shooter, I’m probably picking borderlands or outsiders or destiny over this every time.

It's a free-to-play game. Of course there is going to be major monetization. That's where they'll get their profits from.
@@geoffreyvoss3001 Uh...we are aware of that. The question is and always has been, what type of monetization model will they use? There are many types of models that are used on different types of F2P games. Some more predatory than others, on top of this game being developed by Nexon. That's why we are having this conversation to begin with.
What's wrong with people wanting to pay for stuff? It's a PvE game so I don't see a problem with it.
@@deavyhick6803 Who said paying for stuff was a problem?
As someone who played the first CBT I can honestly say, I've been waiting for the next time I can play. Despite some performance issues, the game felt really good to me. Having played Borderlands, Destiny, Warframe etc. It was really well made for not knowing anything about it.
my main worry is that the publisher is Nexon.
Might be pessimistic, but legit the exact fears I’m having. Great vid, keep up the good work👍🏻
Writing this on the 24th of September, before the last day.
We are 14 seconds in and after seeing the nexon logo my hope has immediately left my body.
Thank you very much for that, means a lot
Ayo! I didn't even realise, that's a sub right there
I refuse to pay for microtransactions I’ll buy the game and dlc that’s it everything else needs to be in game
Between that and Destiny 2, the grinds are real.
that was exactly my thoughts last beta when i saw the grind for the other characters, this is why i'm waiting to see the changes for this one
for a 65 subs channel this was a very high quality video.. good job you got my sub
Thank you for the kind words, means a lot, and welcome to the channel!
participated in the first closed beta way back - seems they reworked a lot of stuff since then. if the gameplay loop is fun - im sure most people will be fine with the grind and just stay F2P players except maybe cosmetics and exp boosters or something. On 2nd place after gameplay - im looking forward to see the actual "release state" of the in-game shop - thats gonna be a huge factor for me.
The first beta was so barebones and I hate every minute of it. This Crossplay OB are slightly better, I still hate the do this and that bs though
But this is Nexon we’re talking about.
I give it 4 months before all the fanboys drop it and never talk about it again
Anyone who isn't pessimistic about the development this game is definitely a super casual to the genre or has no clue about Nexon and their track record.
Your vid is a perfect summary to anyone who has concerns about this game; whether or not they are new to looter shooters or veterans of the genre that need confirmation or reassurance about what to expect from this game.
I hope this game becomes a staple in the looter shooter genre because it has everything I like from all the other games it takes inspo from.
"Why I'm Worried About The First Descendant"
Video begins
Nexon
Video ends.
@@natecoet3291Not to mention you can get all the premium currency you could ever need without spending a dime. The game has an actual player economy
Tbh after playing the beta today I'm struggling to see what this game can do that Remnant 2 can't. To be fair though, some of the bosses look insane, and the populated social hub is a nice addition.

It feels more like Outrider to me
Got about 10 hours in the game now and I’ve unlocked 3 descendants.

Good video. I hope it won't go the same road as some of the titles from Nexon mentioned here. I only started playing from yesterday, and it's really fun.
I share your feelings (great video btw) and after playing the open Beta I hope we both wrong!

@@AdoinkAdoink no problem and yeah hopefully
What characters are playable in the beta
This game looks good graphically but I share the same concern how much content and how long will it last because warframe has literally dominanted the looter shooter genere since 2014
I wouldn’t include Outriders in these comparisons as it’s not a live service and wasn’t designed in a way to ensure replayability even if it hadn’t had a launch plagued with bugs. It’s closer to Remnant 2, which was well received but which just a few months after release has all but disappeared from conversation.
Hello nice video. After the beta phase end, will you do a review video ? It will be cool
These reviews never disappoint. Anyone with differing views are just wrong
😂
Real
Delusional is what you are
I will give this game another shot AFTER release, I want to know if this even has attention and longevity.
HA! GAAAAAAAA.......!
I played lost ark for hours, is really boring how all this games look exacly the same, google machinis lost ark, you see what i am talking about
Free to play is simple for understanding a lot of cosmetics for buy 💳 😉
good review.
Thank you for the kind words, very excited to play tomorrow
These are all really good points. All I know is that I’ve been playing it on the open beta, and it's been pretty fun. Doesn't mean your points wont come into play at some point, but I'm gonna have as much fun with it as possible until the ship starts to either sail or sink
The game is fun, it’s like a faster paced Warframe not movement wise but crafting speeds wise Descendants take 12 hours to complete compared to Warframes 3 days and gun crafting is only 4 hours to warframes 12-24 hours, and the main problem for me is the open world is empty unless you’re doing a mission
Lmao people who haven't played bdo don't know what a grind is.
Beta was trash.... legit EVERY SINGLE mission, mode, everything as follows
1. Go to location
2. kill waves of enemies
Rinse repeat forever..
Vindictus was so much fun. Now they added energy like a mobile game and a bunch of gacha waifu stuff it's sad
"The paid products...can be earned through gameplay."
...along with a grind painful enough to get you to swipe instead.
It's inherent to this kind of F2P model that they have to include "pain points" to make the game so unfun that you pay to overcome it. Nexon killed this before it was even released.
Bro no way you don’t have 1k+ subs, underrated.
Means a lot, thank you
On the 3rd person looter shooter, let's not forget there was also Defiance and the reboot of Defiance 2050.
Just like my favorite game blessed unleashed cant wait for more open world rpg game to come out
Anthem had so much potential. I followed that games development for 4 years and pre ordered special edition only for it to fall apart so hard. I wish they could revive it and redo it like multiversus
This game is literally Warframe 1.5 AND on top of that Nexon is involved. Approach with caution fellas.
i share the same concern with F2P games nowadays. it is so disappointing that its listed as 'free' but it ends up being P2W and just a grifty cash grab
i am still excited to play the game. and i do hope that any microtransactions are egregious
um what the hell? DO you think these developers just invest millions of dollars just so that you can play for free? Are you really this naive?
@@ADesertVoice yes, markets should revolve around the consumer(?). idk where you get this idea that the devs are the ones that are making the greedy decisions. these current models that are trying to grip as much money as possible are being pushed by executives to please the stockholders, not the consumers. devs want nothing more than to make games for their fans, not make their fans feel like piggy banks.
you cant complain about grinds and then talk positive about warframe.
Excatly 😂
Battle pass was confirmed by the director and pass is fine, but we'll see about the rest. I don't expect anything but it might work out.
Thank you for this, I wasn't aware that the battlepass was confirmed. It makes sense though, it's the standard now for these kinds of games
100% this is similar to how I’ll be approaching it. Play it for a bit and have my fun until the grind gets to be too much
I got bored after the first 3 hours, new gun, add perks, find another new gun 2 min later, add perks, 4 levels later I switched 20 guns.
Dude, it may look good, but it actually doesn't bc if you set high graphics, it lags even on a decent pc. I have 2070 and i7 intel 10th gen as I remember. 16 Gg ram and ssd but it looks bad on high settings
Already have 10 hours and I'm a level 40 bunny I'm super disappointed that my stuff will wipe im close to vulby and it's just not fair
Played well, enjoyed the loop, but it will get repetitive fast. I’ll play for the campaign story though seemed cool
(dev notes on their sites have all this information id recommend checking it out if you're interested! )
Still reccomend checking it out as despite issues previously I've been waiting to play even more since last year because it was just so fun.
You can’t choose except what planet you go toO
Its sad that this is so true, I played the beta and liked it but I had the same concerns. Hopefully it doesn't mega suck with monetization.
Man earned a sub, nice breakdown
The grind is going to be somewhat unbearable, but I think at most if they dont fuck it up, it'll be as bad as warframe. Looking at the builds that they drop for the tutorial, it plays eerily similar to warframe's drops.
What I am excited for however is the possibility of gameplay features like gambits and pvp if they decide to add them at least. It might be bad, but i would at least love to see how they iterate on it. It might be good?
I worried about the lack of diversity in the pre-made characters with zero customization.
As a Warframe veteran i'll definitely check the game out. I like that it's a crossplay beta for us console grinders.
One of the big red flags for me is the progress won't carry over in the full game, the second one is the game is made by naxon.
While I like the game, I’m pretty sure it will die out like Wayfinders
Game is ok and I don’t mind pay to unlock characters, basically a different look of Warframe, isn’t too bad.
Perfect game for “Turn off brain, shoot and loot”.
Hoping this game gets good updates, good endgame grind and keep up the good gunplay.
