These episodes are very important and necessary in the development of their relationship and marriage. He being older and having more life experiences maturity and loving her so much was willing to let her go rather than hang on to her. Now Shiyi realizes the love she feels for her husband and chooses not to leave and fight for her husband and marriage.
One of the reasons I enjoy shows from other cultures is it helps me understand and appreciate perspectives and world views. It feels uncomfortable to watch the characters misunderstand each other because of miscommunication but there is also this undeniable level of respect and honor that is astounding. When I speak up to defend myself it could also be interpreted as self service.... How many times do we speak out truth to protect ourselves so we are misunderstood rather than trusting others to believe in our integrity. I'm not saying the characters are right but as I continue to clock more hours watching c dramas I'm seeing things a different way.
This is the one of those rare Chinese dramas where I love the FL..this girl could probably burn the whole mansion and I'd be like she had her own reasons...
Even though I've watched the series over and over again, and know how it all ends, I still have to brace myself to get through this episode. The pain in LinYi's heart is so much greater than his physical pain. Donquing making sure LinBo pays for misjudging ShiYi. Great acting and storytelling. And how does Wallace manage to look even more handsome when he's so pale/asleep...?
I feel the same exact way! This is my favorite Wallace drama and I've seen them all. He is an amazing actor...so believable with all his different looks and emotions. I cry each time bc his heart is in so much pain. Linbo has the perfect voice for the background narrative.

In the meantime you might enjoy My Sunshine (2015) and Because of Love (2022) neither being historical costume dramas but nonetheless excellent dramas. He usually sings on the soundtrack of each of his dramas. He also can dance and donates to many charities. He's a superb actor and human being!

This was the most conversation that Lingxi and Shiyi have ever had. He is right to be honest, Shiyi at this point has distrusted him so much I even doubt her own feelings for him.

It's lazy writing. Had they put more thought into it, they could have come up with a different plot device that wouldn't have viewers resenting Shiyi as well as dropping her IQ down so many points in this moment. Like LY tells her - how could she be so easily swayed by such a thin set of suspicious circumstances.

She’d been living with him for a year, she knows his character well. He trusted her completely when Linfang made false accusations against Shiyi, Instead, she believed in things that had no concrete evidence. ( she could have asked him, but not when he was drunk)
@@bettielee3287 Yeah, but he kind of jumped the gun too. Granted there is tension between the Ou family and the Xu family, but as I understand it Lingyi has never met Ou Yan Xing. He even told Shiyi that he hadn't been heard from in a long time, meaning he literally knows nothing about him and suddenly attacks him without an explanation. And even though Shiyi hasn't known him that long, there is an unspoken understanding between them since they're both illegitimate children from prominent families. Every situation may differ, but Ou Yan Xing even went as far as changing his name to estrange himself from his family. In Chinese culture, it is firmly believed that the younger generation of the family should show respect and reverence towards their elders, so changing your name would probably be the ultimate sign of disrespect.

The following gestures were forbidden in that era: Ou Yanxing called Shiyi by her name, he placed his hand on her shoulder, he was holding Shiyi’s hand when Lingyi walked in. Lingyi asked Shiyi to go home, she refused and hide behind Ou…… all these weren’t allowed during those days. They laid themselves open to suspicion.
She had already judged her husband without real any evidence against him, but now has created this whole saga with mistrust by him because she had kept this matter of finding her mothers murderer from him, and not consulting him in the first place.
In the first place she find her way to be in the xu family to investigate but her heart is so stubborn to not reciprocate the trust and kindness of her husband she is soo fucos on finding her moms killer only not her future. Am mad at her..

It’s not about trusting a man over her husband , it’s about trying to stop her husband doing something incredibly foolish in the heat of the moment so she grabs the scissors knowing that’s going to stop him in his tracks. She has taken this amount of time to trust him as well. From her point of view men don’t have a good track record. Look at the way her father didn’t stand up for her mother. The way her brother in law abuses her sister. She’s struck gold with the Maquis but it’s taken a while for her to trust him & lower her defences, not helped of course by his mother😤nor the bitch concubine from hell🤬. Apart from which the 2 of them are not the best communicators on earth are they? He’s spent his life keeping everything locked up & hidden away & suddenly he has all these feelings to cope with. I think he’s been extremely good in giving her time to consummate the marriage, letting them get to know each other- or so he thought. It can only get better❤️❤️
The clip with Dongping throwing the water at the feet of General Fu was pretty funny. Loved the look she gave him when she walks away was soo cute. Something starting to brew between them
Sincerity and integrity with these 2 gentlemen (Gen Fu & Linbo) to Marquis is what I liked. They gave real service that must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money. Marquis are lucky to have these 2 lad's in his life, really worth doing.
Linbo grow up with Liying and becomes a part of the Xu family. He was sent to military school and becomes the assistant of Liying. The other assistant is also loyal to Liying which is a great one in that era.
I really do not want to watch the character of Lingyi get killed or die in the end...He is such a warm hearted person and he deserves to be ''rewarded'' for all of his sacrifices ...
What a mess, all of this could've been avoided. She'd been with him long enough to judge his true character and in the last episode she said she found him to be an upright man that cares about her so why on earth would she jump to this conclusion without making absolutely sure Lingyi was the one responsible. She believed it so quickly.
For a period of time, her father depends on the help of Madame Luo’s family to get by, this is why he doesn’t have much say in the family business. Shiyi’s brother is a good example though, so we can’t say that her not trusting men was the effect of her father’s behavior. If she has no faith in men, she shouldn’t be trusting Ou Yan Xin either.
Shiyi messed up big time!! She is too smart to not know that he is in love with her 😭. Now that she finally realizes that she loves him maybe she can fix this. This is so well done 👏🥰 Can’t wait for the next episodes.
I don't think it's so much as she doesn't know that he loves her, it's more like she's never known love before. Before all this, she mentioned that she didn't believe in love.
This episode 😥😥...…marquis's love is soo deeeep.……he's risking his life for his wife …the this story is unique.and right now shiyi is going through what we call 'regret'.
This is a nice "twist". Usually in a drama, it is the male lead who hurt the female lead and then found out how wrong he is. Here is the other way around. It is kind of refreshing.
All movies; dramas and series that Seven Tan came to....really amazing; great actress; keep on the good work Seven Tan...Wallace Chung the only drama that I didn't finish watch and read other comments is "General and I". But, this drama he is perfect on it...hopefully, Wallace and Seven will have another movies....perfect match...God bless you both
Yes, I agree. The writing here was bad, and they could have used something else to drive the couple apart for those short two episodes without making the audience feel such anger towards Shiyi as well as make her seem stupid when the show spent so much time showing off her intelligence. Just lazy writing.
She’s very immature. A clear sign of maturity in any relationship is the ability to clearly and respectfully express your feelings . He trusted and protected her so many times. All she had to do was communicate and ask him about her mother. SMH

She wasn't immature, she was only focused on solving her mother's murder, the only reason she agreed to marry him in the first place. She didn't expect along the way that he would turn out to be such a decent, honorable man and fall in love with him. The woman is surrounded by evil deceitful people.
Her actions make more sense than you think. If she straight out asked him, she would also risk revealing that she married him expressly because she suspected his entire family of being involved in her mother's death and he could still deny involvement either way. And while she might be able to defeat him in a battle of wits, there's no way she could beat a military officer in a physical confrontation.
thank you! Everyone is expecting too much from a woman who just had her world crash down and is overwhelmed with doubts. Its not like she meant to stab him either, it was an accident. I think he blames her more for her doubting him rather then him stabbing him...but at the same time, its been an obsession she's been fixated on for over a year and it all made sense for a hot minute.
The stabbing was an accident, but both Ou and Shiyi had crossed the line. Ou wasn’t allowed to touch a girl’s shoulder, especially a married woman, or held her hand or call her name ( he should have addressed her as Madame Xu ). Shiyi should not have allowed these touching and name calling. It’s strictly forbidden in that era. No one is perfect but rules cannot be overstepped.
Give Wallace Chung an Oscar, a million dollars, and a Hollywood contract! 😆😆😆His acting in this episode was incredible!!! 🙌🏻My god, when he was about to cry before leaving on that trip, my heart 💔💔💔💔💔shattered into a million pieces! Seven Tan is an amazingggg actress as well, but wow, Wallace hit it out of the park in this episode! 👏🏻His love for Shiyi is inspiring 🌿🌱💖She’s broken his heart, and yet he still continues to protect her 💗😭😭😭
Yes they both did a amazing job in that scene. It's was powerful how he let us know how much he love her and when she get the light bulb that go off in head its seems to be to late....smh
I couldn't have said it any better. Wallace Chung is a superb actor and hands down has more talent and acting skills than any Hollywood actor. I heard he's a big philanthropist which does not surprise me as he has a kind & generous nature so I know he'd put a millions dollars to excellent use. Wallace is the best example of a person who is living life to it's fullest! Much continued success! This beginning of this episode is the most difficult for me to watch again because of the stabbing but conversely I watch their interaction of saying goodbye with divorce decree over and over as like I mentioned the acting is extraordinary and background music is perfect! Linbo has the perfect voice for the background voiceover.
This episode makes me feel sad Unlike the other episodes when they were together and in lover I felt happy but now I feel all sad and empty I think that's how her ladyship and his lordship is feeling
She meet her husband and other guy almost the same time 🙂 , she stayed with her husband almost all day and other guy since she meet him until now she just meet him again 2 or 3 time, she trust other guy but not her husband 💔
I have to say, 'What did she expect'? I know she was just unsure but she was also naive. How long can you keep putting off a man who is your husband and obviously loves you and expect him not to be hurt (and frustrated)? He was so patient but she didn't see it. She said herself that he was so strong at self control. It was all about herself but she had a duty to him when she married him. He had absolute faith in her when she was in trouble but she couldn't quite go the distance in having faith in him no matter what things looked like. Even after her emotional betrayal, he still protected her and didn't want to divorce her, just protect her.

鍾漢良演技真的神了，看到十一娘拿剪刀威脅，先是非常快速地回過神，再來才注意到她手上的剪刀，最後由震驚轉為憤怒，這麼短的時間內可以演得層次分明，不會糊成一團，真的是教科書級別的，一般演員只會有一種表情，但是鐘可以細膩成這樣，真的佩服！
當年看何以笙簫默，我就是被他這種極速情緒轉換和豐富的微表情所折服的，太喜歡這種潤物細無聲的演法。

我也不觉得钟颜值特别出色。审美没有绝对标准，我个人观点，他是气质好，演技好，有特点，有想法，天生吃这碗饭的。那些颜值高的不见得吸引人，长得好看的演员多了，没有内涵的话，好皮囊而已。

It’s not about trusting a man over her husband , it’s about trying to stop her husband doing something incredibly foolish in the heat of the moment so she grabs the scissors knowing that’s going to stop him in his tracks. She has taken this amount of time to trust him as well. From her point of view men don’t have a good track record. Look at the way her father didn’t stand up for her mother. The way her brother in law abuses her sister. She’s struck gold with the Maquis but it’s taken a while for her to trust him & lower her defences, not helped of course by his mother😤nor the bitch concubine from hell🤬. Apart from which the 2 of them are not the best communicators on earth are they? He’s spent his life keeping everything locked up & hidden away & suddenly he has all these feelings to cope with. I think he’s been extremely good in giving her time to consummate the marriage, letting them get to know each other- or so he thought. It can only get better❤️❤️

Sincerity and integrity with these 2 gentlemen (Gen Fu & Linbo) to Marquis is what I liked. They gave real service that must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money. Marquis are lucky to have these 2 lad's in his life, really worth doing.
Linbo grow up with Liying and becomes a part of the Xu family. He was sent to military school and becomes the assistant of Liying. The other assistant is also loyal to Liying which is a great one in that era.

What a mess, all of this could've been avoided. She'd been with him long enough to judge his true character and in the last episode she said she found him to be an upright man that cares about her so why on earth would she jump to this conclusion without making absolutely sure Lingyi was the one responsible. She believed it so quickly.
Shiyi is naturally wary of men with harems. Just look at how little her father did for her and her birth mother.
For a period of time, her father depends on the help of Madame Luo’s family to get by, this is why he doesn’t have much say in the family business. Shiyi’s brother is a good example though, so we can’t say that her not trusting men was the effect of her father’s behavior. If she has no faith in men, she shouldn’t be trusting Ou Yan Xin either.

I don't think it's so much as she doesn't know that he loves her, it's more like she's never known love before. Before all this, she mentioned that she didn't believe in love.

This is a nice "twist". Usually in a drama, it is the male lead who hurt the female lead and then found out how wrong he is. Here is the other way around. It is kind of refreshing.

Yes, I agree. The writing here was bad, and they could have used something else to drive the couple apart for those short two episodes without making the audience feel such anger towards Shiyi as well as make her seem stupid when the show spent so much time showing off her intelligence. Just lazy writing.

Her actions make more sense than you think. If she straight out asked him, she would also risk revealing that she married him expressly because she suspected his entire family of being involved in her mother's death and he could still deny involvement either way. And while she might be able to defeat him in a battle of wits, there's no way she could beat a military officer in a physical confrontation.
I wanted to complete this drama without dropping a comment but this episode pushed me so farrr😭

thank you! Everyone is expecting too much from a woman who just had her world crash down and is overwhelmed with doubts. Its not like she meant to stab him either, it was an accident. I think he blames her more for her doubting him rather then him stabbing him...but at the same time, its been an obsession she's been fixated on for over a year and it all made sense for a hot minute.
The stabbing was an accident, but both Ou and Shiyi had crossed the line. Ou wasn’t allowed to touch a girl’s shoulder, especially a married woman, or held her hand or call her name ( he should have addressed her as Madame Xu ). Shiyi should not have allowed these touching and name calling. It’s strictly forbidden in that era.
No one is perfect but rules cannot be overstepped.

I couldn't have said it any better. Wallace Chung is a superb actor and hands down has more talent and acting skills than any Hollywood actor. I heard he's a big philanthropist which does not surprise me as he has a kind & generous nature so I know he'd put a millions dollars to excellent use. Wallace is the best example of a person who is living life to it's fullest! Much continued success! This beginning of this episode is the most difficult for me to watch again because of the stabbing but conversely I watch their interaction of saying goodbye with divorce decree over and over as like I mentioned the acting is extraordinary and background music is perfect! Linbo has the perfect voice for the background voiceover.

I have to say, 'What did she expect'? I know she was just unsure but she was also naive. How long can you keep putting off a man who is your husband and obviously loves you and expect him not to be hurt (and frustrated)? He was so patient but she didn't see it. She said herself that he was so strong at self control. It was all about herself but she had a duty to him when she married him. He had absolute faith in her when she was in trouble but she couldn't quite go the distance in having faith in him no matter what things looked like. Even after her emotional betrayal, he still protected her and didn't want to divorce her, just protect her.
I love these comments. It really helps me to understand the context of the series.
In three to four days he didn't need a shave. His beard was no where in sight. He is very easy to look at and his acting is superb!
