- I helped with the clips for this video tribute to DON PARDO for a private NBC party in his honor. This never aired. Thought I'd post it on the sad day of Pardo's passing at the age of 96.
Darrell's impression of Don got him the gig. No better person to replace him! RIP Don
Now THIS is a great way to honor the man I consider the greatest announcer of all time. Thank you for posting and I am happily sharing it.
Lovely. Met him once or twice at a Jeopardy taping (NBC/NYC) as a kid and got his autograph on a Final Jeopardy "supered" card (yellow font); in my career, imitated him on a few select spots, and regularly in the sanctity of my own tv viewing during the openings for live and re-aired SNLs. Classic announcer, one-of-a-kind. Thank you for posting...
What a great talent and he seemed like such a nice guy too. A timeless voice that spanned generations. Thanks for posting this tribute.
His voice was the voice of SNL when I was growing up.Never forget that voice. When Don Pardo announced your name you had made it. RiP Don Pardo! ❤❤❤
Goodbye Don. You WERE the heart and soul of SNL You will be so missed.
Thank you Gilmore. Very special to get to experience this.
This is fantastic, thank you for sharing this with us.
Back in the early nineties, I was living in San Jose, Calif....had a radio station in San Francisco....104.5 KFOG (classic rock)....every Monday through Friday, there was a program called "10 @ 10" with Dave Morey...Don Pardo did the introductions to each show...."It's 10 @ 10...featuring 10 great songs from one great year....this is Don Pardo and now here is your host of 10 @ 10....Daaaaveee Morrrreyyyy"....I must have listened to well over 200 of those shows....miss Dave Morey and the legendary Don Pardo
This was extremely well done...
Thank you...Mr. Box.
A legend and inspiration. Thanks for posting.
A pleasure to share it. Glad you enjoyed it.
A true legend. As a small child I preferred watching game shows instead of kid's stuff & this continued well into my teens. Pardo had the gift in that his voice never changed much with age, if any.
Mi dream wont ever be true... Don Pardo saying my name. What a voice!!! RIP
Bob Hope and Don Pardo were the only performers to have a lifetime contract with NBC.
Bill Wendell, David Letterman's announcer for Late Night also had a lifetime contract too until he followed Dave to CBS.
Thank you Don Pardo !
If SNL doesn't use this clip package on their premiere in a few weeks, there will be Hell to Pay.
He was also one of the staff announcers of WNBC-TV (besides Matt Thomas and Bob Waldrop).
He's the only reason i actually watched SNL during the lean years,to see the opening
He is MR. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. 5 STARS Mr. Pardo... 96 years old. YEAH>>>> The man
Nobody did it like Don the god father of annoucers everywhere
Goodbye Don we will miss u
R.I.P. Don Pardo.
Hearing Joel Godard from Late night with Conan Obrien I thought he was also the voice on SNL. Anyways he'd make a great replacement for the show and he could be in some skits for the show, he was hilarious on Conan.
I hope Fallon and Seth do a tribute for him on their shows :/
RIP DON PARDO
At 3:07 what was the name of that outfit Don Pardo was wearing?
1:05 What kind of car IS that? It looks like a Packard at first glance but its not -- the grill and hood ornament are wrong.
#RIPDonPardo
There's the time Don Pardo sang with Frank Zappa on SNL.
DP was to TV what Bob Shepard was to baseball.
***** Bob Sheppard, Yankee Stadium PA announcer
How about Howard Cossell?
COSELL was the WWF
so they're celebrating Don working on SNL for 60 years?
Without Don Pardo it is time to retire SNL after 40 years. Keeping SNL going without Don Pardo is an insult to the program and it's entire history. NBC needs to move on and find something else in 2015 on Saturday Nights at 11:30 PM. The program novelty has long past it's time years ago.
With president Donald trump
Was enjoying this until Donald appeared. Now I'm legit afraid again.
Trump aside, this is a wonderful tribute. I'm glad Don had such a long career.
Trump lives in your mind rent-free.
Who knew then The Don would make such a great president?
Which Don do you mean? Because I personally believe even now that Don Pardo could do a better job as president than Trump.
RIP Don Pardo
