Beautifully made video. I have ridden most of the roads and trails you used (apart from the Norfolk coastal PATH - I walked some of it though), but it's good to see it through someone else's eyes.
Hey Barry, Great video! Really lovely countryside and coast, plus the weather weren’t half bad that week!Funny to see myself on there but it was a real pleasure to meet you and have a chat. I enjoyed seeing the finished painting that u were doing when we met. Your art work is looking good, I especially liked the last one. Keep up the artwork...and the great vids! David
Hey Celebrity ;-) Yes was amazing to bump into you!!! Hope school is going ok now you are all back, even if a but chaotic :-) We did make the coast that night as you saw, and what a stunning spot!
Belated Happy birthday Barry. Great video and beautiful coastal setting. Great that your other half also enjoys the outdoors. Enjoy your next adventures 👍
Really enjoyed that. Shows what bikepacking is all about. The pure 'enjoyment' of a trip and making some fantastic memories. Brilliant that your other half accompanied you too (wish I could get mine to do so!). Well done to you both.
Thank you so much! Yes is very special to share it with her, and to take the time to enjoy it myself rather than smashing miles and conquering mountains!
What a great story, thanks Barry. We recognised all the places you cycled and hope to ride them again soon. This was the first of your tales we looked at - now for the rest! Good bye from deepest Norfolk.
a little change of style and pace compared to some of your other films Barry, a very relaxed and enjoyable film to watch, thankyou. Makes me think about visiting Norfolk again after a break of about 25 odd years. Safe travels
I’ve ridden the Peddars way from knettishall to Hunstanton and back many times...it’s one of my favourite 100 miler day trips. Congrats to Mrs Barry for doing a 50+ mile day👍. Another lovely video, and I love your paintings. Very Tony Hart. Thanks for taking the time to get all the film on your trip
Thanks so much Robert! Yeah she smashed it! :-) Yeah this video is a bit different to my others, but nice just to chill out and have a nice trip compared to all my normal dramas that happen
A little different I guess but I, much like yourself, like adventures by bike. Doesn’t matter where...like the mbr mag says “just get out and ride”. Oh, and happy birthday😉
Brilliant video! I'm so glad that RUclips suggested this for me. It's the first video of yours I've seen and I really enjoyed watching it. Also, I was especially pleased to see you paint because I do this too while out on the bike. I'm looking forward to watching more from you.
Thank you so much Ana, yes it is so nice to try and combine you passions and hobbies together, also take a moment out of the day to reflect on where you are :-) Thanks for watching
I loved this film mate, the soundtrack is amazing. The footage of the beach near then end really helped, I could feel my heart rate going down as I watched. Wow your painting is super nice as well. Hope to join you one day mucker.
Wonderful video of your trip, such enthusiasm for the journey. It’s a pleasure to watch. I’m about halfway through but I had to ask, and marvel at, your campsites. It seems as if you were able to pick the most picturesque locations and simple pitch the tent. It’s not something we’re able to do legally here in the States. I’m so jealous. Back to the video and thanks for sharing your trip.
Hey, thank you so much! The honest answer is, it is not legal here, but common sense and respecting the countryside and leave no trace, there is no problem. Yes I do not choose the most hidden spots, I camp for a view, haha. Thank you so much for watching
Hey Barry Great stuff enjoyed your film and the Wales adventure. We are heading from the coast at Worthing to Bangor and beyond this summer once we clear some work. Maybe see you on the road buddy. Thanks for sharing. X
Hey! Yes what a great trip you have planned, i really want to start properly doing the coastal routes and exploring what is about. Being by the sea is always specular. Haha just looked to remind myself where Bangor is, what is your route plan???? Should be epic! See you out there

Lovely video! We are just looking at doing our first few day cycle trip and this fits the bill. I just wondered about your route from Ely to Thetford. How did you navigate this? Thanks!
Hey Amy, thank you very much. It is easy from Cambridge to Ely as on a sustans route, but from Ely to Thetford, it was a google classic, I often just choose bike, move the track around to interesting places/off road en route, and google does amazingly in planning something, that is what we followed this time.
Barry.... that is by far the best video you have made and the best half hour spent on a Saturday evening chilling with a beer!!! Great filming, editing, location and ooh err the new tent!!! Epic birthday treat and hat's off to your partner too for more miles each day than I currently do. Brilliant buddy and many more please - as I've mentioned before, your infectious enthusiasm for what you're doing is compulsive viewing... the watercolours looked fab too!!! Cheers Barry and keep up the excellent work/content and enjoyment for us all!!!

Hi Barry, great achievement and excellent video. Quick question: do you think this (Peddars Way) is do-able with a bike trailer? I mean if the route/paths are wide enough to accept two-wheeled trailer? We did ride an "off road route" from Hitchin/Stevenage to Cambridge with a bike trailer - so I know this is OK, but now am thinking of going further up north i.e. the Peddars Way. I also plan/hope for bikepacking. Many thanks and keep riding. Chris
Hi, Yes parts of the Peddars way would be able to do with a trailer, it is a wide track most of the time, towards the coast you would have to have a look at the paths, but by thetford no problems
That looked terrific. I’m plotting my own adventure along the south coast. Question - how do you find places you are happy pitching the tent? My assumption is just keep in the countryside, tuck yourself out the way, arrive late and leave early. Any tips appreciated (especially in a big white tent!)
Haha, yes the huge white tent does not connect to stealth, but I say I you are happy with your camp spot, like out of the way, then you should not be scared to be there. Use the leave not trace rules, and if someone does come up, they are more than likely super interested in what you are doing!
Hi Barry great vid as ever - i have a question for you in your BG Tips persona - i bikepack with a MTB but find that the front pack i use puts pressure on the cables no matter what i do - to the extent i have to use the barrel adjuster to get them working right. Have you encountered this and what front pack do you use. Thanks
Hi Andrew! Yes it a bit difficult to get the routing correct, due to the bag on the front you do not need much surplus length as the bars can not spin anyway, so my cables are quite short. I also use that harness which does help with the squashing. Hope that helps :-)
Just returned from a three night bike trip with family round the excellent byways of south Dorset and Purbeck and we watched this over tea. You've started us plotting yet another trip. Editing and filming just gets better and better. Really sharp. Maybe a topic for BG Tips?
Wonderful comment Johnny! I am so glad you had a great adventure. Feel honoured it was dinner watching :-) And thank you very much for the editing comment! Yes will be a subject soon, how to film your adventure

Oh yeah, it is totally different. It is also really nice just to worry and look after her, and a slightly slower paces you get to look around a appreciate where you are more :-) Wonderful to share it together
Hi Barry. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Just wondering if you had any issues taking the bikes on the train as this is one route I'd like to do at some point (when we're all able to go out and about again). I have taken mine on the train into London before but looking at Greater Anglia website and it says no bikes. Probably down to the discretion of the staff on duty at the time. Just don't want to get turfed off the train in the middle of nowhere by some jobs worth.
Hey! So sorry for the mega slow reply, Yes I have had many problems with trains, I just make sure I am always booked and do not even try a train with out a bike booking, just not worth it. Have also met many jobs worths in stations.
Hey, Yes they are complicated things, trains that is. I googled the train line and luckily this line did not need any pre bookings, and we were getting on at the start of the route, so did just roll up. They often only allow 4 bikes per train, but be aware 80% of trains in the UK need a reserved spot which is a right pain so make sure you check all the route
This makes me want to get out bikepacking ASAP. Fingers crossed 🤞 for April. Setting up my hard tail MTB for a weekend trip round the lammermuir hills outside Edinburgh. Great film as always Barry. Hope you're well.

Brilliant video I'm really enjoying watching your movies in these uncertain times I'm a mountain biker in the North East of England 🇬🇧 and would love to do some bike packing/wild camping 🏕 keep up the good work 🤘
Hi Stewart! Yes looks like we are all set for uncertain times, but nature can be the best cure, so do not ignore it. And planning a trip for the future can be almost as exiting as doing it :-)
@BarryGodin you should have a look at Timmy Mallet (yes that one) and his website. He's a cyclist and artist like yourself! Lovely painting by the way.
Hey Dan! Yes love Timmy Mallets adventures, he did an amazing inspiring talk at the Cycle Touring Festival this year, he took carrying canvases and acrylic paints to another level, but did have an ebike, haha

Great video Barry! Thanks for this. I've been looking at my first bikepacking trip with my 11yr old son and this looks perfect. Cheers!
Oh he would love it! Great tracks to both ride, and lots of places to camp too! If he does it make sure he lets me know :-)
@@barrygodin7538 Will do cheers!
Hi Barry. This really looks like a good trip to get my kids involved in. Do you have the route on Strava/Komoot?
Hey Paul! Yes a perfect one to take the kids on, I do have a Strava, but send me you email and I will send the GPX files over of what we did
@@barrygodin7538 Hi Barry, I'd like to take my younger brother on his first bike tour and this looks perfect as he's not confident on roads. May I also have the GPX files?
Not too many people do long distance cycling on a Mountain bike. How much does your bike weigh?
Oh there are a few of us out there ;-) the bikes weigh a lot, but in the bikepacking was the weight is spread out so the bike feels very normal to ride
Nice to see the travelling chorizo :) Really do hate the fickle nature of the Google algorithms , only just noticed this video. Belated happy birthday.
Haha, yes always a cheeky sausage in there ;-) thanks very much for the bday wishes
Just come across your channel and watched some of your older vlogs after I had watched this. Really sharp filming and editing. Great to watch. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. What's your bike BTW?
Thank you so much! I am riding a Genesis Longitude and she was riding a Pinnacle lithium. .Thanks for watching lots more to come
A video full of nice people and all enjoying life, a rare thing these days.
Ahhh, thanks! Yeah we have to enjoy life :-)
Great watch that!
Thank you so much Graeme
Another amazing video Barry, love the effort you put into your films. Last weekend I covered the Transpennine Trail on my channel, out and back over four days. This week I am messaging you from Norfolk have ridden the Norfolk Coast Cycleway. I can tell you right now the weather has been atrocious with trees falling, powercuts and flooded roads- a far cry from your adventure. The Peddars Way had been suggested to me before - will have to look it up!
Oh matey! yes quite the change in weather this week!!! Stay safe and dry somehow. I will check out your channel and adventures! Have a wonderful time there in Norfolk, keep peddling :-)
Fabulous video. Great to watch over breakfast in a cold & windy Moray. You need to move up north mate, that way no one can tell you off for riding on footpaths 😉🤣😂
Haha, Thanks Greg! Wish I was up there!!! Oh everyone is a bit grumpier in the south here haha
awesome film, easy to watch yet inspiring at the same time.
nice to see your sharing your experiences with your manager :)
nice art work too.
please don’t take this the wrong way but compared to your previous trips it seems somewhat well, missing something ..
Thank you so much Christopher, Yes she kept me under the thumb ;-) I totally understand your comment, It you be some nice big mountains, but lockdown this year kept destroying my plans. But I promise the next film will have drama a huge hike a bikes up mountains, haha
Kings Lynn closed at 4.....only on a Sunday
Sorry, yes on Sundays :-)
A++++.
:-) Thanks Alex!
I do hate it when Google and komoot show a path yet someone has locked but put up a no entry sign.
Oi Barry! Where’s the monsterous hike-a-bike ? This one had too much comfort and real food ;)
Haha, yes this was a very different trip and I loved it! But I promise you monstrous Hike a bike in my next film :-)
Great video Barry, a great advert for the Fens/Norfolk mountains. I was introduced to this video by Biketouringmike m.ruclips.net/channel/UClhTpH14hALl_c6HXFhttew. Living in King's Lynn I know Peddars way and the coast very well, I think you would have ridden right past my house. If you head South on Peddars way it joins the Icknield way and then the Ridgeway, food for thought! I'm now playing catch up on all your other great films. Cheers Ed
Hey Ed! So sorry for the incredibly late reply, you comment has just popped up, crazy. Yes I have ridden the whole way across and want to try and create a proper route for it, make it the southern coast to coast! Yes Norfolk is so beautiful with great riding, I have so much more to explore there
Nice video mate. Not sure how you popped up on my feed but my gain! Great editing and lots of enthusiasm. I'm originally from Deal, Kent... now live in Madison, WI USA... recently did a 1000 mile ride from Colorado back to WI. Check us out on Facebook at "Soulmate Cyclists".
Hey Chris! Thanks so much for watching :-) Your trip sounds like an epic one!!! Have found you on facebook, will have a look at your updates :-)
