there's something to be said about korn when you realize how much their music is influenced from hip hop and jazz. It's actually quiet beautiful how they even make their guitar solos sound like oldschool dj scratches and the break to this song specifically reminds me of the early blues era when improv and making noises with your mouth almost like a bass guitar was fairly common. I'm not the biggest Korn fan, but i realize the breakthrough in music grunge, rap/rock, and nu metal bands have brought fourth.
Yeah there's a definite hiphop feel to the song. I think it's awesome. Have u seen the video? Those dudes must have been on something, their performance is so intense...
That moment you realize the song is about someone suffering in prison. "Everytime I start to believe, something's raped and taken from me" (Everytime he has hope that he'll be free, he loses that hope when the inmates beat him) "Can't they chill and let me be free?" (Talking about the guards and how vigilant and violent they are if he crosses them slightly) "Can't I take away all this pain? I try to every night all in vain" (He tries to end his misery but it's all hopeless and pointless) "Feeling like a freak on a leash" (Feels like a caged animal that's constantly being controlled and beaten around by the guards and inmates) "Da boom na da noom na namena" (He's at his breaking point and after that, he goes insane and loses all his innocence and what good or sanity he had left)
Idk sounds like maybe addicted to drugs! I wasn't born in that era but I can imagine when he says Sometimes I can't feel my face is when he's high or sum.

Who else thinks this song is about a person that is missing something from there life and they need to complete it. Their life is choas without the missing piece and it has ruined there life. So they are feeling like a freak on a leash.
"you and I were meant to be" sounds like something out of a love song
Something takes a part of me
Something lost and never seen
Every time I start to believe
Something's raped and taken from me from me
Life's gotta always be messing with me (You wanna see the light)
Can't they chill and let me be free (So do I)
Can't I take away all this pain (You wanna see the light)
I try to every night, all in vain, in vain
Sometimes I cannot take this place
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste
Sometimes I cannot feel my face
You'll never see me fall from grace
Something takes a part of me
You and I were meant to be
A cheap fuck for me to lay
Something takes a part of me
Feeling like a freak on a leash (You wanna see the light)
Feeling like I have no release (So do I)
How many times have I felt diseased (You wanna see the light)
Nothing in my life is free, is free
Sometimes I cannot take this place
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste
Sometimes I cannot feel my face
You'll never see me fall from grace
Something takes a part of me
You and I were meant to be
A cheap fuck for me to lay
Something takes a part of me

Was this Linkin Parks inspiration?
YaBoiTobyRodgers most likely
Love this song & 90s/2000s metal. Thank you Guitar Hero 3 for introducing me to this kind of music. My parents really appreciated it lol
I relate to this song so much, especially when he says, "Life's always gotta be messing with me, can't they just chill and let me be free?" From day one I've done nothing but fight for my life. I was born three months premature at one pound thirteen ounces, fighting health problems, fighting all the homophobic pricks that made me feel like shit for being gay, and fighting depression. Everyday is a fight. And it really does make you feel like a freak on a leash.
Late but hooe your doing better sir
Literally same to all of that dawg
KORN IS GOING TO 2014 MAYHEM AND IMMA SEE THEM THEY WILL DO THIS SONG AND COMING UNDONE!!!!! ROCK ON MY FELLOW ROCKERS >.
