- LAX pt 1 December 2 1995 with Robbie Shaw guest appearing. Video taken from the old 'Dobb's Lot' adjacent to the 24s. This location was near the Flying Tigers / Fedex maintenance hangar and the US Coast Guard facility. Accessed from World Way West. Spot disappeared from public use when it became an airport airside shuttle bus parking/staging facility. The good ol' days...
Great classic video from LAX!!!!! 💪
Planespotting was so much better then, but even better in early 80s when 8s and 707s were still flying
Love the video, great footage. Love the sound of the DC10 on takeoff/rotation as the L-1011 as well, on all aircraft at the time all had a great sound, love sound of jet engines.
What is the cause of that pulsating static sound? Is it just a consequence of digitizing the video?
Radar in the vicinity. Very annoying, I know.
I was surprised to hear Shaw say something positive about TWA for once considering all the bitchin' he did about TWA in all of his books !
TWA was great to fly on!
It's so smoggy!
Do you know when this footage was taken?
aeromoe Cool! Thanks.
3:53 = priceless!!!
Man! Do I miss that parking lot, for spotting!
0:57 1:46This sounds just same with the only AA11 crash video, when the plane was flying through the New York city. It is so sad :(
Is this fog or fires' smoke?
It's fog
Good God, is that Smog???
No it's fog. LAX is just yards away from the ocean
Miss RenoAir!
Yup, merged with AA
Dusty
What makes the audio pulsate like that?
You might be referring to a nearby radar sweeping the area and affecting the electronics and audio recording.
December 2, 1995 was my daughter's 6th birthday. !! I wish some of these airlines and liveries were still around. The golden age of jet travel is over ! 😮😢 It's not fun anymore and the jets these days, (April 18,2024), all look the same !! I'm sick of seeing winglets !!! The jets looked more beautiful and sleek without them

damn fog.
recordar es vivir definitivamente todo tiempo pasado fue mejor que chevere video grasias.
When did United move from the white with red blue orange striping livery to the grey and blue livery? I wanna say it was around 1993/94?
Jan 1993. 757 N573UA was delivered 22 Dec 1992 and arrived Phoenix for painting in the battleship gray in the DynAir Corp hangar...the hangar was removed years ago. A lot of interesting aircraft were painted in that hangar including the only FedEx 747 to wear the full purple c/s.
@@aeromoe Thank you for that info, interesting about the DynAir Corp hanger. I really liked the old United livery, I remember taking a United DC10 from Chicago Ohare to Denver Stapleton as a ten year old that had the iconic blue red orange striping.
When was this recorded?
Sorry - this was 2 December 1995. I was there on the 1st and 2nd and saw the white ATA 757 both days. When I asked Robbie Shaw which KE MD-11 had just landed and he said 7375 or 75 or whatever it pinned the date to 2 December.
