Tim Cahill arrived in England in the late 1990s, as a young Australian footballer set upon a professional career at the highest level. Earning his first break as a teenager at Millwall, he established himself as a combative and physically impressive central midfielder with an eye for goal - and in six years at the south London club he experienced promotion and played in an FA Cup final against Manchester United. His 2004 move to the Premier League with Everton saw him link up with David Moyes, and under the Scotsman Cahill would enjoy a hugely successful eight-year spell at Goodison.
In this exclusive Masterclass with The Coaches’ Voice, the recently retired Cahill - who is working towards completing his coaching badges - explains his development as a player in the 14 years he spent in English football. He charts his maturing from an energetic box-to-box midfielder in a 4-4-2 formation at Millwall into a more advanced, attacking midfield role under Moyes, and gives a fascinating insight into the way Everton made the most of his attacking instincts.

This man is my all time favourite Everton player, a true warrior of the game. This guy was one of the very few men who never knew when he was defeated, who would run through a brick wall for the club & fans. What I’d give to have Tim Cahill back at Everton now.
You can forget £50m for Richarlison, £45m on Sigurdsson, I’d take £1.5m on Cahill everyday for the next 1000 years!!!
Tim Cahill one of my Favourite players too as a Millwall fan he was excellent really loved here as-well
He also ran through a brick wall for the Australia team
Moye's nicknamed him Robocop because he'd come back from a flight from a game for Australia in somewhere like Malaysia and then be raring to play a few days later for Everton.
Sukhdev R34 Richarlison has a long way to go to even enter the conversation of being a Premier League legend for Everton, like cahill.
Richarlisons runs his arse off as well though, probably the only player we’ve got right now that truly cares
Giroud as 9, Cahill as 10, Felaini as 8... The game is on your head.
Ugh, that would be a nightmare to defend. Get a couple guys wide running off that -- yikes.
Top class Tim Cahill
Millwall legend 🦁🦁🦁
I’m surprised with the amount of view this channel gets cuz it reveals all the tactics
Cuz football isnt tactics
Idiots like those footballdaily guys can keep talking about stats all they like but how u win football matches is having skilled players and desire to win
Thats literally it .
The rest is just fluff
BigDog Tabooya if that was the case literally every team would be successful. And it can’t be a coincidence that certain managers like mourinho guardiola klopp Brendan Rodgers Benitez do well wherever they go
BigDog Tabooya I agree. The emphasis on tactics people make these days is wildly overblown. This is a simple game that gets over complicated.
BigDog Tabooya Yh okay I get you but look at Man Utd the tactics let them down ever since after Sir Alex now it’s Ed Woodward of course but was still tactics back from David moyce
You say this but all he’s saying is basic football equity. He’s just talking ab basic understanding of the game.
We love u timmy once a blue always a blue 💙 once everton has touched u 🔵
I’d love to see wayne rooney on this channel
Where can I buy book in UK : Tim Cahill ,,Legacy,,
Tim Cahill
💙💙💙
Shame he didn’t explain his philosophy but great video Tim
Get the leading Socceroos scorer of all-time and to discuss tactics from several teams other than the Socceroos...
Cahill Arteta Pienaar Osman Fernandes Rodwell
Typical 4-4-2 english football.
Dad
Hang on! He's talking utter nonsense there! Mike Arteta was a January 2005 signing to replace Thomas Gravesen when he went to Real Madrid. They weren't in the same team (apart from a short loan Gravesen had during the 07/08 season).
Poor form here Timmy!
Some mistakes and you say he s poor?are u a policeman or Leon Osman? it does not need him to 100% accurate. what he tells is comprehensive enough. And that should be Leon Osman role.
Well it was a glib comment.
Also he talked in glowing terms of Tony Hibbert's ability - so his judgement is way off!
This Everton tactics stuff all sounds ace but they were generally garbage and came nowhere close to winning anything,
They finished 4th once and were in the fa cup final/semis (ie, close)
Weren’t amazing or anything but definitely not ‘garbage’ either, cmon mate
