  • Here's how to cut and program your own keys at home for a 2015+ F150. I used a Defu 368A key cutting machine and an Autel IM508 programmer. The 2015 F150 I bought at Copart only came with one key - as usual - so time to make a full set without visiting a locksmith!
I bought my spare keys on eBay. These are for 2015-2017 Ford F150 and Expedition vehicles with FCC ID M3N-A2C31243300. A new pair is about $50. You don't need to cut the backup door key to program the keys, though you probably should in case your battery dies in your key fob and you need to get in the truck. You can still start the pickup with a dead key fob by placing the fob in the key tray under the mat on the front of the center console.

I'm an automotive locksmith. We run 100 to 150 calls per week so almost nothing I haven't seen 10 times. I have no problem with anyone doing DIY stuff. Just advice to anyone based on my experience. Always use OEM or OEM refurbished FOB's. In my experience any issues we had with comebacks or problems were always with aftermarket kaka. Another tip. If using any flavor of Autel on a Honda and it asks to verify a date ALWAYS choose NO even if correct. You will brick the BCM if choosing yes. Better programmers like an Advanced Diagnostics Smart Pro write to the BCM correctly and will never ask for a date verification. We use 508's,608's and about 10 more name brands and Chinese clones. Autel at first denied bricking Honda's. They confirmed it finally but never sent any warnings to people that own their programmers despite knowing about this issue. Honda also has a bulletin about it.

Good to know. All of the aftermarket fobs I've used have button pressing problems.

@@HeartlandRebuilds That and they stop working usually in about 3 months. We had a lady that used her fingernail to press the buttons instead of the tip of her finger. She destroyed 2 FOBS we made for her. OEMS and refurbs start at closer to $100 to $300 our cost vs aftermarket they sell wholesale for $3.99 how good can those things be? We get say $350 for a lost key. Some guys running around in a beater out of their car trunk charge $100. They aren't coming back for warranty work. People shopping for price only aren't customers I want to work for.
