These look great. To determine the order of rads in my home can i open all trv's and locksheilds fire up the system find the first one shut off the system close that fully down both ends to isolate it then fire the system up and find the next one and so on and so on as just hand feeling them was not allowing me to find the order. Can this work with standard locksheilds left fully open or must i fit the new ends?

That method of identifying the radiator order will work. If you've got existing locksheilds fitted you don't need to replace them just lock them wide open.
