Mick Jones would've been doing Spooky Tooth reunion tours and living on fish & chips (no newspaper) in a London flat had it not been for the powerful yet angelic voice of Lou Gramm which propelled Foreigner to celestial heights. Lou Gramm and Steve Perry are probably the two all-time greatest voices in contemporary rock.

Anybody that knows anything about Mick will tell you he's a pretentious A hole that won't even sign an autograph for a kid. If anyone questions how important Lou was to the band just look at what they did after he left which is what toured around year after year playing the greatest hits with a bunch of replacement players. Yeah.

I was born November 1980 so when I was young I loved the 80s kids pop like new kids on the block etc😂😂but when I got to about 15-16 I started hearing songs on the radio alot and found so much 80s amazing bands and talent.. My friends used to say I was older than my years but I would say no I just appreciate great music and vocalists when I hear them. Lou Gramm was the coolest guy on earth at one point and pretty damn fine may I add back then too. x

I see that the focus was always on Lou's incredible singing. Then Mick took the opportunity to try to shine. The greed took over and Mick wanted to be the "star" of the show. And the accolades Too bad this happens because no matter the awards, we all known it was Lou's voice that made Foreigner grand!

Lou Gramm almost died from a brain tumor and he had major surgery to save his life. I’m glad he made it and is still with us. He of course changed his life after that near death experience.
Mick Taylor was his collaborator on the songs. Lou Gramm is the voice of Foreigner and the main part of their sound.
God Bless Lou Gramm! I still like Foreigner and their songs have held up. FM Radio used to play them constantly.
    Good Interview!

Wow ! What a crazy story! Lou’s the bomb ! I can’t believe he got treated like that . My favorite Foreigner song is Double Vision , and I broke my Lou Gramm tape rewinding Midnight Blue over and over as a kid 🤣. Lou is the one I remember swooning over from Foreigner because I loved his voice and way of singing. It took all of the band to make the amazing songs . So Lou deserves his credit for everything he did . I just don’t get it . Sounds like Mick was jealous that Lou did such an amazing job without his interference and wanted to be greedy . Love this interview ! Thank you 😊

I loved Foreigner in the 80’s as they were such a great band but Lou’s voice sealed the deal and he is the face of Foreigner to me. Sad that jealousy and greed is the road that Nick chose. How does one feel good when stealing from or putting down others? Lou has gone through a lot in his life and I am so glad that he weathered the storms and came out the winner. This was a great interview and I like how you don’t interrupt Lou and let him speak his truth.

I saw Lou and Foreigner at the MTV gig at the Bayou in 1985. Sat eight feet from the stage which was tiny. It was incredible.
Sorry to hear this story but it seems fairly common. Jealousy. Greed.
I want to know what love is - is iconic and it is Lou's vocals that make it. To tell the truth, Lou Gramm is the only name I remember from Foreigner. Lou's story if accurate, is very sad. That greed and jealously can cause some people to turn and destroy long time friends and great collaborators. These types of success stories are literally magic. It is a shame Mick allowed his greed for money and fame to break up such a magical and lucky partnership. I hope Lou takes some solace in the fact that everyone remembers HIS iconic voice much more that that guy - Mick is it?...guitar. He should be ashamed.

The cover band does a great job, best cover band I ever witnessed, but had more respect in 2018 in Bensalem when Mick at least showed up and played some, thus still maintaining non-cover status. I believe this is right before the AC show when Lou showed up, really regret not seeing Lou perform. Nov2022 Bethlehem show was good but Kelly made no mention of why Mick didn't show on stage, could have said he was under weather or something and he said how band was performing like 40 something years and that may have rubbed some in audience the wrong way since a handful of baby boomer gens started leaving after this. Young Gen X'r here but fortunately had comp tix, those who paid over $100 did not seem very enthused to see a cover band. Great show over all, but plan on seeing Lou in one of his shows next time. Rock on Lou.

Did Mick ever comment on why he took 100% of the credit for “I want to know what love is”? I just recently learned about the differences between Lou and Mick. I didn’t know what to believe but looking at the reunion videos and other videos and how distant Jones is even when Lou tries his best to say hello I can see the real situation here. It appears that Mick didn’t learn that you don’t wait till you’re about dead until you realize you’re hardheaded. Hopefully he will apologize and make it right to Lou before one of them aren’t around to do it. It’s a bad shame! 🤷‍♂️😢

Lou Gramm WAS Foreigner. I have seen it over and over in the music business where one member of a band gets an ego and squeezes out the others. David Lee Roth did it with Van Halen for instance. When someone's ego gets too large, it is hard for others to have room to fit in. Mick Jones is good in his own right and I'm sure he sees edging out Lou as a win for him, it was a loss for the music industry.

    What an interview L❤ U !!
I can't believe he only rested for 2 weeks...
So glad he lived to tell us about it.
I saw Foreignor at Konacti Resort in Lakeport, California in 1997.
He came out and the entire audience was stunned. We could see that something was definitely wrong with his health. I came there to see one of my First favorite singers. I screamed to the top of my lungs "Yeahhhh LOU". Then everyone else started in and I didn't shut up through the whole concert 😄 I wanted him to know that despite the obvious, he was still our "Juke Box Hero" 🤩
That Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame is totally JIVE. I'm glad some Rockers refused the offer.
We love you Lou and Foreigner will always be one of the Great bands that was the "Soundtract of our lives" for our era!!
"Midnight Blue" is one of my favorites too!! I named my first black cat "Midnight" when that song came out 😻

I’m a Foreigner fan from the beginning. So many great songs, Lou and Mick together are so talented. I’m sorry to hear how things went with that song, which in my opinion is no better than any other they made. The important thing is everyone knows Lou is the best, if there’s no recognition or profit from your efforts, the fans know no one else could have made it work. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

As Lou says later in this commentary, he was ostracized for being straight behind the scenes(had the rear lounge to himself on the bus) while the others were getting high together, thus jealousy likely played a roll.

When Lou said take the whole thing Mick, is the time you call a lawyer. I love Lou, but to be honest, Mick treated Lou just like they treated Ian, Ed, and Al as nothing more than the hired help. Man, my cousin who was my bf since I was six years old, screwed me out of a mere one hundred dollars when I was twenty. I never talked to him for eight years, and even after forty years, maybe three times since then. Lou, I am surprised you even said hello to the guy

Lou is up there with other front men, lead vocals: Jim Morrison, Robert Plant, Roger Daltry, Mick Jagger (maybe not as hyper as Mick, but great vocals), David Lee Roth (but not as flashy.) Really! Lou, you’ve been great and deserve at least 50% or more of each hit’s revenue. Mick should be ashamed and should make it up to Lou. Mick Jones is a real S-head!
