A old friend of mine was in Vietnam he said many of the first edition M16's didn't have chrome lined barrels or chambers which led to jamming issues due to the dirty powder and lack of cleaning kits.
Yep! All to save a few bucks! Part of it was to do with the procurement chain falling for the marketing spiel of it being a "self cleaning" rifle as the gas used to cycle it blew mud and debris out of the bolt, however the rifle still had carbon fouling just like every other rifle! I think the other issue is the army changed the powder load they were using in the cartridge as well which increased fouling and messed with the cycling of the rifle due to it having a different pressure curve. If you're interested in the history of it, I recommend checking out forgotten weapons as he has some very decent videos on the history of the AR series of rifles. This rifle is modelled after the A1 which actually fixed those two issues as it had a chromed barrel and was issued with a cleaning kit!
Kudos for the vice table, it's nice to see that as opposed to shouldering the gun and calling it a day. Points also for combining the accuracy test with a fps consistency test, the graphic was just icing on the cake.
@@gibby_crusaderOk so, can confirm, the CYMA is a great gun. Recommend shorten the internal barrel about 4 inches and use .28g pellets and you have a decent sniper.
Great review! Hopefully I’ll grab mine tomorrow and paint the receivers my brownells grey and spray a clear coat on the hand guards and stock to make it look more realistic
Good morning just enjoyed this video however, the rifle was never advertised as self cleaning this was an assumption made due to Eugen Stoner's comments that the round used had fast burning powder so the barrel length was set so the powder charge was designed to burn fully before it reached the gas port thus reducing carbon fouling. The change of powder was not that for the 7.62 but what Winchester did was to reduce the huge sticks of cordite style powder used for 16" Naval guns a relatively slow burning powder, do a size suitable for loading the .223. When the UK took possession of the trials version of the M16 a sample of ammunition was sent to Radway Green to match the performance which they did. RG had no problems ordering in propellant powders from Dynamite-Nobel which was the problem in the US. Congress found in an enquiry that due to an attempt to save money ($1.97c each) by not providing cleaning kits many lives were lost. When in the Cadet Corps in 1971 I had the pleasure of speaking to a Royal Marines Sgt who was a L/Cpl on the T&E team for the M16 and he stated that the originals were still being used. Also the UK fielded the M16 in jungle conditions in the early 60's but with adherence to good cleaning practice had few, if any, ammo related stoppages. as an aside I know you make SA80 bayonets, now you have an S&T SMLE will you be making a 1907 pattern bayonet to fit?

hi, I wanted to ask you how the hop up of your replica works. I bought this shotgun too but I don't understand if the hop up works badly or the model is just like that. Power 1J and the pellets arrive safely at 50 meters closing all the hop up. But usually with all the replicas I have, I never get to close to the maximum because the pellets would fly upwards, but with this replica to get to 50 meters I have to close it to the maximum without ever the risk of them flying high. Moreover, I noticed that at the end of the meters the ball does not fall gradually but overhanging. I wanted to understand if yours was like that or mine that has something wrong with it.
Question here: although I do know that the bolt catch works on this specific model, it’s sold out and the price is too high for me. But on evike i could a aluminium receiver with plastic stock and hand guard under the designation AEG-CYMA-CM009A1. I was just wondering if the model I want has a working bolt catch and release too?
