I have reached out to the company who makes the Launch Elite tool and asked them to reply to the many questions in the comments above my knowledge level as well as address issues with the key FOB programming and height calibration failing to work.
Just purchased the Launch Elite through your link. Used the available $50 discount coupon and my CC rewards. Total to my door $65.00. :) Thanks for the review.
Hi Mike, I have owned my LR3 since 2015 and have YET to pull the trigger on a $500 GAP tool ugh. The Launch looks to be a good value. Question: Can you reset fuel trims with this tool? Turn off pesky parking sensors?
The parking sensors can be turned on and off with the “P)))/^\” button right next to the red hazard button above the radio. Fuel trim sounds familiar but there are long lists of features I didn’t explore. I would suggest buying it from Amazon and simply returning it within the specified time frame if it doesn’t suit your needs.
Thanks Mike. I'm buying one through your link simply because it costs less than what I was going to pay a local locksmith to program a new key for our LR3, but also that it will also diagnose issues with our Jag, which hopefully will be none. 😄
@@wafflesquare Finally had time to launch the Launch today. Cleared all but one of the old codes from the LR3 and all the codes from the Jag. Remaining code is not connecting with the OEM radio, which had been replaced by a Sony stereo. I'm going to be programing a new key fob once I get the key cut. Only problem might be finding the key code for the original key.
@CanuckinPA I programmed several remotes in episode 10. The lock smith was able to cut the keys without me supplying any code: Programming LR3 Remotes With the GAP ID Tool - Ep.10 ruclips.net/video/CfpqHQGc3jE/видео.html
Are you still happy with this device? I am also thinking about the iCarsoft LR V3.0 for Land Rover/Jaguar . . . about the same trice. I am definitely not a knowledgeable auto repair guy! Just a guy that owns an 2007 4.4 v8 LR3 that is dealing with a bunch of issues!
Mike, another great video! Now I just need your fuel sending unit to go out! :-) Mine just took a dump a few weeks ago... Look forward to the next one....
Great video. Now my question is under the diagnostic side of the tool I noticed TPMS, I’m very curious if there is a way to set the value of all 4 wheels and spare to “0” or turn the TPMS system completely off. I have a 2008 LR3 with steel wheels and no more sensors so I deal with the amber idiot light which is very annoying and don’t want to spend the money for the GAP IDTOOL just to turn off my TPMS. Please let me know! Thanks
Was hoping this would be a quick stopgap solution until I can get a GAP tool... doesn't look to be so. Got a transmission job and other repairs/maintenance items to do on my newly acquired '08 RRS S/C. Biggest issue I'm dealing with is transmission adaptations and changing tire size so my speedometer is correct :)
@@wafflesquare Agreed... I'm likely going to do that since I need to mess with some of the CCF's. Someone monkeyed around with the configs on my car after it was wrecked so I need to bring it back to factory/virgin configuration.
Hi Mike, thank you so much for sharing all your fun with your Discovery. I enjoy all your videos. About the Launch tool, I tried the key fog programing function in a Range Rover HSE 2007 (L322). It did not work. Poor information online and the instructions from the tool are arbitrary. I retuned it. I am planning to buy the GAP tool.
So I won't program keys? Crap, that's why I bought it since it was going to be $200 for a locksmith/Land Rover to do it...waffle have you checked this?
It didn’t work for my RR (322). This car is super picky in all its features. Perhaps it might work on Discoverry. I know that the Gap tool has better instructions and has better tools visualization than this tool. You can try this tool first and if it doesn’t work for you, just return it. That is what I did.
There are others out there that do the same thing for a similar price. I have a Vident but this one gives more info for example the ride height messurements. If I didnt already have mine I would purchase for sure and tuch screen is a nice upgrade from what I have.

Hey Mike, it appears to be a great tool indeed. I have a Disco 3 for about 4 years now. I only have the iCarsoft reader, which is enough to what I need. I wish GAP was a bit cheaper, so i could justify buying it. LAUNCH Creader appears to be great for me BUT i could not find it in amazon europe (found only “for BMW”)(buying from amazon US will incur tax and charges prohibitive). The only I was interested was to activate rear view camera anyway. Great review and amazing video as always.
Question you may not know or maybe with your contact at Launch you can find out? I am shopping for an LR3 thus why my question as I cannot self-test. I just bought a Launch X431 919E that supposedly does a ton of functions on most any car brand. Will their Launch X413 919E do everything on a Land Rover that the tool they sent you did?
No. This one is specifically pre-loaded with Land Rover/Jaguar software. As I mentioned in the video, it can be expanded to handle other specific vehicle makes by purchasing software downloads.
Hi Mike, can this be used to select different options within the modules? An example being that there are options for the handbrake and how it can be engaged, either automatically when the car is switched off or manual option only. Can this tool change those options?
I did not see that option when I went through the menus but there are long lists of features I didn’t explore. I would suggest buying it from Amazon and simply returning it within the specified time frame if it doesn’t suit your needs.
Too bad you didn't try the things why most of RR users buy GAP for, change options (retrofit heated seats, steering commands, etc, change RDL settings, ), as far as I can tell this can do few things like program keys (but you haven't tested if it works), change height and bleed the abs pump. If this is 'all i ever needed' than fine, but 4x more costs from GAP still was not beaten by any other tool as non has ALL options GAP has. However, if you need something simple there are more cost effective options.
