No, but it doesn't really bother me. The tip still hits the CB where I am aiming, and it goes in the direction my shaft is pointing (for a center-ball hit).
ok because there is only one other review on youtube about this ext and the guy said it was making him miscue. and he was sure that was why.@@DrDaveBilliards

Hey Doc. When you decide to get rid of all this equipment, please just DM me and I will give you my P.O. Box number 😂. I recently purchased a new REVO 11.8mm WVP shaft that I put on my custom Meucci butt. Going from the 12.5mm Meucci Pro Shaft to the 11.8mm carbon REVO with that very thin WVP (yes... that small of a difference of only 0.7mm is VERY noticeable) made a world of difference in how much better I can see true center ball. Great videos Dr. Dave and THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR LESSONS!!!!!
Doctor, you're one of nature's greatest miracles. Do you think your cues are more likely to rattle around, get warped, or risk any other atrocities in your soft case than they would in a hard case? Thanks.
How do you travel with cues? I hate to travel with my cues due to having to check them as baggage. I travelled extensively for business across the world with checked luggage, and the bags wouldn’t last longer than two years no matter the make, price, or style of bag. I’ve also lost luggage for several days. So, how do you and the professionals travel with their cues?
When I switched, only the 12.4 was available, and I liked that the CB deflection was the same as my previous Z2 (so I wouldn’t need to change how I aimed with sidespin). Although, with SAWS, I can now easily recalibrate and aim accurately with any cue: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/sidespin/aim/saws/

:-) You know, interestingly, you can put and store the jump cue butt in jump cue butt socket in the large storage pocket(where you put the pool glove, shaper tool, mechanical rest, etc). Anyway, is that a 3x4 pool cue soft butterfly case? Oh and uh…I have a feel that some beginners and intermediate pool players start off with something basic like 1 playing cue, 1 break/jump cue, and 1 2x2 or 2x3 case.
I like keeping the jump cue butt in the extra butt sleeve. I keep the Predator butt extension in the pocket sleeve. After watching the video, you know as much about the case as I do. It holds 3 butts and 4 shafts.

Hi DrDave! I would love if you did a quick review of the SVB vs Sanjin rack 3 miscue call. It seems like he made a legal jump accidentally, but they called a foul, and even he was confused. They called it a scoop. Love your videos! Keep aiming to swerve! :)
The call was incorrect. The shot was a scoop jump resulting from a miscue, but it was not intentional, nor did it serve a useful purpose (even though the legal hit on the 1 was lucky). A miscue or scoop jump is a foul only if it is intentional to benefit the shooter in some way (in which case it would be an unsportsmanlike conduct foul). Sanjin was obviously attempting to draw the ball.
@@DrDaveBilliards I agree with that. However, do you think it was a scoop shot, or a legal but accidental jump? I ask because the cue was raised and although he hit low on the cue ball, after watching it a few times, I can almost swear it was a single hit and not the typical scoop.
@@johnholmstrom4212 DR DAVE SAID HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO DRAW THE BALL. NOT JUMP THE BALL. IT SEEMS YOU ARE CONVINCED HE WAS JUMPING THE BALL THAT WENT WRONG OR INTENTIONALLY SCOOPING. AS YOU DONT BRING UP DRAWING THE BALL AS AN OPTION, PER DR DAVES REPLY.
Really cool stuff! This is irrelevant to the video but I am 29 years old and want to try to take pool seriously as I have always enjoyed the random times I've played with my friends when we went out. I noticed everyone who is good at pool like you and other channels I've watched have been playing since you were young. I was wondering if I take it very seriously, what is the probability that I could ever become good enough to compete at a high level starting as late as I am? How much time do you believe I'd have to put into it to try to catch up? Am I to old to start and should not even try to catch up? I can't find much info about these things on the internet so I think it would be a great video topic. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Also I love your channel! I'm trying to absorb as much as I can
Obviously, it helps to start younger, but if you are willing to put in lots of dedicated work over 5 or so years, there is no reason you cannot reach a high level. See also: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/advice/pro/
Nope. I don't like "gizmos." I'm old-school with chalk. I just keep it on the table. I can pick it up for the next shot without even looking because I always leave it in the same place on the rail next to me as part of my pre-shot routine.
The way Dave has trouble remembering how to open the case looks like he just got it and not accustomed yet? Then looking at the cue butt to see what it was as well

Legend has it that Dr. Dave also keeps a USB drive in his case featuring the famous Efren Reyes audio clip, "Well I got lucky hehehehehe"
That's a good idea. :)
Does your cue still roll straight with the balance rite?
No, but it doesn't really bother me. The tip still hits the CB where I am aiming, and it goes in the direction my shaft is pointing (for a center-ball hit).
ok because there is only one other review on youtube about this ext and the guy said it was making him miscue. and he was sure that was why.@@DrDaveBilliards
Hey dr dave, i'm interested in buying the extension you use but forums say that majority of people received a faulty extension. Is this true to you too?
@@Reachyse0834 The quality is not great, but I like the length. It added a slight wobble to my cue, but this doesn’t really bother me.
@@DrDaveBilliards hi again dr dave, i just bought one custom made for my cue so it's straight and doesn't wobble, but now i have another issue. I felt very comfortable on the power and english control but i seem to have miscue a lot more than before and seems like the problem i notice is with the taper messing my stroke. I'm currently using a predator c8 shaft with the predator proV taper. Any tips/exercise you can recommend me?
@@Reachyse0834 It sounds like you might have lengthened your bridge length. That can lead to inaccuracy and more miscues. See:
billiards.colostate.edu/faq/bridge/length/
Dr. Dave one last question, do you think a carbon fiber shaft helps with long draw shots and long follow shots? Thank you!!
Not really, unless the shaft/tip you are comparing it too has a much less efficient hit (but even then, the difference is small), per the info here:
billiards.colostate.edu/faq/cue-tip/efficiency/
The main advantages of a carbon-fiber shaft are described and demonstrated here:
billiards.colostate.edu/faq/cue/carbon/
I was hoping to see a snooker cue! (Would love to see Dr. Dave pick up snooker and start to scientifically help us snooker players too!). Love your videos!
Unfortunately, I don't have access to a snooker table; although, I love watching world-class snooker matches.
Hey dr Dave. Great video as always. While I am here just curious if your are still using that mid joint extension?
Yes I do. The extra length is helpful. I am tall (6’ 3”).
Dr. Dave - do you have thoughts on using a Revo shaft with a low end butt (from a different brand) if someone doesn’t have the budget to get a high end butt? I’m thinking of getting one of their lower cost Aspire cue and switching out the shaft with the Revo.
Also, does carbon fiber matter for the butt at all?
The butt is unimportant to the action of the shot. Any butt is fine. There is no advantage to a carbon fiber butt.
@@DrDaveBilliards thank you 🙏🏼
What's total playing cue weight with the extension? Mid extension
20 oz, without the butt extension, but it can be changed with the weight bolts in the P3.
@@DrDaveBilliards I usually go about 20oz
Keep up the good work my brother I'm watching from South Africa
I'll try. Regards from the US.
Hi Dr Dave, what is your cue weight including the center piece extension? And how long is the cue? Thank you
The total weight is about 20oz, and the total length is about 62", without the butt extender.
@@DrDaveBilliards Thank you for the response, I am using a Predator Ikon 3-3 and I removed all the weight cartridges and the cue still comes in at 18.8oz, the reason for this is I want to play with the predator 3 inch butt extension as I feel the normal cue length is too short for me, but with the extension the cue comes in at 20.9oz which I feel is too heavy, is there a way to remove more weight off the cue? Thanks again
If you already removed all the weight bolts from the butt, there is nothing else you can do to lighten the cue.

What tips do you use on your playing and break cues?
The break cue tip is the original Hybird tip designed by Predator I believe
I use whatever tips they come with. When I need to change the tip on my playing cue, I usually use Triangle, but I am not particular; although, I prefer a harder tip for the reasons here:
billiards.colostate.edu/faq/cue-tip/hardness/

Thank you, and you're welcome!
Doctor, you're one of nature's greatest miracles. Do you think your cues are more likely to rattle around, get warped, or risk any other atrocities in your soft case than they would in a hard case? Thanks.
A soft case is probably not the best for air travel, but I have my old hard case for that.
I put my cue case diagonally in a tall rolling bag, surrounded by clothes and bubble wrap.
Is your p3 the Mr 626 version?
No. I’ve had it for long time.
Oh ok. Thank you.
Any reason why you chooses 12.4, they also have 11.8 with lesser deflection from your tests, why not that one?
Also since you shifted from Z shaft, it would have made sense to go 11.8 is not it?
When I switched, only the 12.4 was available, and I liked that the CB deflection was the same as my previous Z2 (so I wouldn’t need to change how I aimed with sidespin). Although, with SAWS, I can now easily recalibrate and aim accurately with any cue:
billiards.colostate.edu/faq/sidespin/aim/saws/

Did he say what kind of tip he uses, other than hard
I honestly don't have a strong preference on tip choice, but I use Triangle. All I really care about is that the tip holds chalk. I prefer a harder tip for all the reasons here:

I just went back to triangle last year after trying some of the expensive ones, triangle is less maintenance for me. Thanks

Also all joints are uni-lock , radial pin too… yours is the quick release type

@3:18 GOTTA have an extra shaft or 2 if you play predator. They won't allow you to change the tip (5-10 mins in between match) less void warranty. Predator owns the cue, not you lol.

@@johnholmstrom4212 This was definitely a miscue resulting in a scoop jump; but it is not illegal since it was not intentional.
